  • Diagnoza možganske smrti: tretja generacija kriterijev - predlog slovenskega pravilnika s komentarjem = Diagnosis of brain death: criteria of the third generation - Slovene draft guidelines with commentary
    Trontelj, Jože, 1939-2013
There are no internationally accepted guidelines for diagnosis of brain death.Different sets of criteria are used indifferent countries, and several have been updated in recent years. The current ... Slovene criteria need to be revised as well. This paper presents a draft of the new Guidelines, elaborated upon the request of the National Council, for Neurology. These Draft Guidelines are based on some of the most recent foreign Guidelines, as well asrecent literature. This is followed by detailed instructions as to how the individual tests should be performed, as well as by explanatory remarks and comments on the differences compared to the current protocol and certain foreign guidelines. The exact identification of the preconditions is among themost important requirements. A distinction is made between primary and secondary brain damage and between the primary supra- and inratentorial lesions. In principle, a confirmatory instrumental test is required for an early diagnosis, except for the cases of primary supratentorial lesions.
