  • Otrok v prometu = Child in traffic

    Preschool children are often victims of traffic when participating as passengers in vehicles and pedestrians resp. when playing on scarsely assignedsurfaces close to their homes, which are often ... occupied by cars. Although the number of victims decreased from the year 1970 when 32 preschool children died in traffic accidents to 2 fatal casualties in the year 1997, we cannot maintain that their safety is good as long as there will be one sole fatal casualty or severely injured with permanent consequences. Such a task and aim are realizable. Children participate in traffic only as passengers in or on vehicles, where they can be effectively protected by adequate safety belts and other devices, and as pedestrians who have to be accompanied by an adult caring for their safety. Dwelling environments which are child's living place have to be transformed in such a way, that vehicles could enter this area only at pedestrian speed, which would prevent the injuries of children. The first steps towards achieving of this aim have been made on the legislative and preventive domain. With the realization of the set tasks also the set aims can be achieved i.e. no fatal casualty or severely injured child in traffic accidents among preschool children.
