The Lower Cretaceous limestones from the Lakovici quarry belong to the basal part of the Aptian limestones. These limestones are the beginning of the second transgressive-regressive megasequence in ...Istria which followed a general Upper Aptian emersion event. Within the approximately 50 m thick limestone sequence that is quarried, four facies units were defined according to their petrographic and sedimentological features. The following facies units were devided: A - Micritic limestones, which were deposited as shallowing-upward cycles and which begin with breccias containing clay matrix or terminate with dark-gray clays sporadically accompanied by deposition and redeposition of black terrestrial and swamp clays, as well as sediments from bogs and pools that were developed in isolated bays and/or laggons; B - Grain supported limestone deposited as fine-grained to coarse-grained carbonate sands in a predominantly high-energy shallows, bars and sandy beaches; C - Micritic limestones deposited in restricted low-energy shallow subtidal environments; D - Grain supported limestones deposited as fine grained carbonate sands in high-energy shallows and bars. The results of petrological, sedimentological and technological investigations show that the limestones from each individual facies unit have different technical properties, notably porosity, bulk density and water absorption, i.e. the wide range of technical quality of the limestones quarried is a direct consequence of their facies characteristics. The outlined facies units enable separation of rock mass in the quarry not only by their petrological characteristics but also according to the technical quality of the rock.
Donjokredni vapnenci kamenoloma Lakovići pripadaju bazalnom dijelu aplskih vapnenaca kojima, nakon opće gornjoaptske emerzije, počinje druga transgresivno-regresivna megasekvencija u Istri. Unutar ...50-ak metara debljine vapnenaca koji se eksploatiraju u kamenolomu Lakovići izdvojene su na osnovu petrografsko-sedimentoloških karakteristika četiri facijesne jedinice. To su: A- Mikritom bogati vapnenci taloženi kao ciklusi oplićavanja naviše koji počinju brečama s glinovitim matriksom ili završavaju tamnosivim glinama; B - Zrnasti vapnenci taloženi kao sitnozrnati do krupnozrnati vapnenački pijesci u plićacima s pretežito visokom energijom vode i na pješčanim plažama; C -Mikritom bogati vapnenci taloženi u zaštićenim potplimnim plićacima s niskom energijom vode i D-Zrnasti vapnenci taloženi kao sitnozrnati vapnenački pijesci u plićacima i plažama s pretežito visokom energijom vode. Rezultati petroloških, sedimentoloških i tehničko-tehnoloških istraživanja pokazuju da vapnenci svake pojedine facijesne jedinice imaju različita tehnička svojstva, posebice ona vezana uz poniznost, prostornu masu i upijanje vode, tj. da je velika varijabilnost tehničke kvalitete kamena u kamenolomu izravna posljedica njihovih facijesnih karakteristika. Izdvojenim facijesnim jedinicama određena je i selektivnost stijenske mase u kamenolomu u odnosu na, kako petrološka svojstva, tako i tehničko-tehnološku kvalitetu kamena.

Concentrations of 20 elements were measured in ten honey types collected from four main geographical regions of Croatia during three beekeeping seasons. The four regions differ by their geography, ecology and climate. Significant differences in the element concentrations between honeys of different botanical origin were found for Al, Ba, Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Pb and Zn (p<0.05). The highest mean concentrations of elements were found in honeys: floral Cd, Cr; acacia Mo; honeydew Al, Cu, K, Ni; chestnut Ba, Ca, Mn, Na; forest Fe, Mg; sunflower Cu; linden Pb, Co; sage Se; lacy phacelia Zn. Differences in the element content of honeys originating from the same region collected in different seasons was found for the honeys: floral Al, Ca, K, Zn; acacia Ba, Ca, Cu, Mg, Mn, Na, Zn; honeydew Cu, K, Mn, Pb; chestnut Al, Ba, Cu, K, Mn, Na, Pb; sunflower Cu; linden Ba, Ca, Mn. Also, regional differences in the element content of honeys collected within the same season was found for: floral Al, Ca, K, Mg; acacia Ca, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Zn; honeydew Cu, K, Mn, Pb; sage Ba, Ca, K, Mg, Mn; chestnut Ba.

The aim of this research is to investigate existing research dealing with the topic of the structure, functional and morphological status of the muscles that make up the body's core, as well as how ...improving the core affects the advancement of sports technique and its efficiency. The term core most commonly refers to the trunk, or more precisely, to the lumbar region. Core muscles play a significant role in lower limb alignment and stability, associated with poor alignment and injuries. The development of the core strength to improve the efficiency of sports performance is a controversial issue that has yielded different results. The analysis of the scientific journal articles revealed that the specificity of the program for increasing lumbar stabilization with the appropriate sport or skill is of the utmost importance. Therefore, it is necessary to specialize training facilities so that they are suited to a specific sport branch or discipline.
Element concentrations were measured in multifloral honeys sampled from Central and Eastern Croatia. The mean levels of elements ranged from (µg/kg): Al 323–7228, Cu 103–1033, Cr 14.4–139, Fe ...295–2336, Ni 122–523, Pb 9.65–154, Zn 442–2025. In all samples, As and Cd content were below the LOD values. Significant differences in the concentrations of Al, Cr, Cu, Fe, Pb and Zn (

< 0.01) were found in honeys from different locations within regions and within locations of each region. Also, significant differences in total element contents between the two regions were determined for Cr and Cu (
p
< 0.01). No significant differences were observed in total Al, Fe, Pb and Zn levels between regions. The highest Al, Cr, Cu, Fe and Zn concentrations were measured in Central Croatia, while Ni and Pb in Eastern Croatia. The results confirm the decisive influence of collection location on the composition of toxic and trace elements in honey.
The self-assembly methods, an inexpensive and high throughput technique
capable of producing nanostructure arrays, relies on the formation
on a monolayer of self-assembled nanospheres. This paper ...reports on the
formation of large-areas monolayer polystyrene particles ~150 nm in
diameter onto monocrystalline Si (100) substrates by using the spin-coating
method. In this method, the quality of the deposited monolayer is determined
by the balance between spinning and solvent evaporation, accounted by two
different forces, the centrifugal force and viscous shearing force, and
their interplay. The key process parameters which influence the deposition
process and determine the properties of polystyrene monolayers such as the
spinning rate, time and concentration of PS particles in the solution were
studied. By varying the experimental conditions in different steps the films
quality can be easily improved and the optimized experimental parameters
were achieved. A homogenous and well-ordered PS monolayer with a high
surface coverage of ~94 % was formed on a large-area substrate of 1 cm ?1 cm
at specific conditions of a 2000 rpm spinning rate, 2 wt. % polystyrene
solution concentration and 210 s duration of the spinning process. We
conclude that this method can be useful in a variety of applications since
it offers a stable and controllable approach to the fabrication of monolayer
polystyrene films on a large-scale.
Highly ordered, anodically grown TiO2 nanotubes on titanium supports were annealed in ammonia atmosphere in order to incorporate nitrogen doping (≤2 at.%) in the titanium oxide lattice. FESEM ...micrographs revealed nanotubes with an average outer diameter of 101.5 ± 1.5 nm and an average wall thickness of about 13 nm. Anatase crystals were formed inside the tubes after annealing in ammonia atmosphere for 30 min. With further annealing, rutile peaks appeared due to the thermal oxidation of the foil and rise as the duration of heat treatment was increased. The concentration and chemical nature of nitrogen in the nanotube arrays can be correlated to the optical response of dry-pressed heterojunctions of doped TiO2/CH3NH3PbI3 single crystals. The N-TiO2/perovskite heterojunction with the highest amount of interstitial nitrogen exhibited an improved photocurrent, indicating the importance of the semiconductor doping-based heterojunction optimization strategies to deliver competitive levels of halide perovskite-based optoelectronic devices to be envisioned for urban infrastructures.
The goal of this research was to examine the contribution of an innovative program that contains football elements to the activity of preschool children in physical education classes. The research ...was carried out using a quasi-experimental design with two classes of children of preschool age at Preschool Institution "Cika Jova Zmaj" from Pirot, divided into an experimental (18 subjects) and a control group (16 subjects). The standard physical education program and the experimental football program were implemented over the course of 12 weeks, with a total of 36 hours of physical education or training. The results showed that there are statistically significant differences in the active time of the subjects in class in favor of the experimental group and that this difference was the largest in the seventh week. This research proposes the elements of the football game as one of the traditional forms of physical exercise that shall contribute to the comprehensive motor development of preschool children and additionally activate them in physical education classes.
The bones play an important structural role in the organism. They provide mobility, support, and protect the body, and the place where the storage essential minerals. Healthy bones have a crucial ...impact on the overall health of a person, and activities that promote health and preventive influence on the formation of bone disease are crucial in maintaining a strong and healthy skeletal system. Physical inactivity affects the decrease in function of bone, and the most common disease of bone osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disorder that results in low bone density and micro-architectural deterioration of bone tissue, that results in less bone density, and may lead to fracture. Physical activity is essential for bone health and prevention of osteoporosis. Based on available information, the best effect to maintain and stimulate the formation of bone mineral density is a combination of dynamic exercises with resistance training that engage multiple joints, large muscle groups, and have influence on the spine and hips. The results suggest that exercises with axial loading, such as running, jumping, and power exercise, promote the positive gains in bone mineral density. Therefore, training should focus on the adaptation of specific parts of the body that is most susceptible to injury, and should be sufficiently intense that exceeds the normal loads.
The formation of 2 : 1 complexes of azithromycin with copperdl), zincdl), cobaltdl), nickel(II), magnesiumdl) and calciumdl) ions was examined. These compounds (2-7) showed the same in vitro ...biological potency as azithromycin (1). The complexes (3-7) are isostructural and different when compared with azithromycin-Cu(II)- complex. Copper(II)-complex (2) was most stable and selected for structure determination by X-ray crystallography. Some physical characteristics and analyses of the complexes are also presented.
