The historical–demographic heritage of the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian empires’ rule in Serbia created different models of collective and private life, which had particular influence on marriage ...patterns. Sremska Mitrovica and Šabac were subject to different marriage policies as jurisdictions separated by the Sava river with specific historical contexts, and together they represent the differences across the border between two empires, whose legacies have lasted until today. Data based on marriage registers from these areas were statistically analyzed by the SPSS software package. This article analyses these differences through data on discrepancies in crude marriage and divorce rates, the first marriage age, and the homogamy of marriages based on the spouses’ geographical origin.

Rural tourism ...is one of the possible directions in achieving it. As a form of innovative rural economic practice, rural tourism should be based on diffusion of knowledge and information (DKI). Therefore, extension service can be of a great assistance in rural tourism development. The authors have pointed out characteristics of extension work in rural tourism in Vojvodina. The research results have showed that even though professional help has been identified as a main factor of rural tourism development, there are several obstacles in extension activities in rural tourism development (managerial, financial). In the conclusion, the authors have emphasized the necessity of strengthening visibility and recognition of extension service in rural tourism development.
The paper is an attempt to observe, analyze and present ethnic characteristics of the area in a complex manner, to indicate their unity and mutual dependence, and highlight the differences from an ...objective point of view with the aim of finding solutions for specific problems. The aim of this paper is to analyze the ethnic composition of the area of Vojvodina part of Bačka, with special emphasis on the end of XX and beginning of XXI century. By combining historical-demographic and modern approaches in analysis of ethnicity in the region we came to the conclusion that the Serbs, Hungarians, Slovaks, Croats are the largest ethnic groups in the territory of Bačka. Although the process of ethnic homogenization is dominant, there are no ethnically pure regions, and heterogeneity in the ethnic structure of the population is the main feature of Bačka.
Thanks to the field observations conducted on the territory of central Serbia, it was noticed that people in rural environment, beside the optional conversations about weather conditions, most often ...talk about the politics. The aim of this work was to find out how many people who live in the countryside have the contact with the politics. Hypothesis were made within the communication with several examinees, but they were verified by the poll in which more than 100 persons took part. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, using T-test, one-factor analysis of ANOVA variance, and also they were checked by Post-hoc Tukey test. The work task was to find out if gender, age, as well as, professional and regional differences exist in relation to the countryside inhabitants considerations about certain political issues they have been talking about. The importance of this work is to discover whether the distance from urban environments and, life in nature can make a man less interested in and indifferent to the politics.
Wood biomass in Serbia is traditionally used for energy. However, the manner of its use is outdated, and efficiency is very low. Annually over 3.5millionm3 of wood is cut down for energy needs in ...Serbia. In order to better exploit all forms of woody biomass, especially the one that is now treated as waste, and in order to fulfil the obligations from the outlined Convention on Climate Change it is necessary to switch to a modern way of production and utilization of woody biomass. Serbia is now at the very beginning of this process. This paper gives an overview and an analysis of the possibilities of utilization of wood waste as a renewable source of energy and the problems that producers in Serbia are facing due to undeveloped markets and excessive funds that are needed to start the production of briquettes and pellets. The ecological and economical advantages of using woody biomass, as well the possible support measures for the use of woody biomass in Serbia are also the topic of this paper. The present situation in this area, the manner of waste management in sawmills and the reasons for the necessity of future development of this industrial production are also briefly described.
From the individual state and through the family, aging became a collective and social “problem”, often interpreted only statistically and economically. Main goals and tasks of this paper are ...contained in issues expressed through these questions: how much the society is socially responsible and solidary, how deep the intergenerational gap is, and how strong the relationships between the elderly and the young are. The existence of traditional and human values, the exchange of feelings, the transfer of knowledge, skills and experiences between the oldest and the youngest generation were analyzed through the attitudes of pupils of selected elementary school classes and students in Novi Sad. The analysis includes frequency, extent, activity and time spent between respondents and the oldest family and household members. The research results will serve as the basis for a realistic assessment of the situation in society, referring to family relationships that have undergone changes in the last few decades. It will also direct policy makers to the importance and potential of old people in the field of preserving community, culture, heritage; emphasizing the importance of the feeling of physical and psychological use fulness and functionality for old people.
