Aim: Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a frequent health problem in premature infants. Pharmacologic closure is recommended only for hemodynamically significant PDA (hsPDA) that is defined according ...to the clinical and echocardiographic criteria. The aim of this study was to explore the value of commonly used criteria in defining hsPDA and predicting the required number of courses of ibuprofen treatment to close PDA in premature infants. Methods: Sixty premature infants with a gestational age of ≤33 weeks were evaluated prospectively. Clinical and echocardiographic criteria O2 requirement, ductus diameter (DD) and left atrial-to-aortic root diameter ratio (LA:Ao) were used to define hsPDA. Clinical improvement after pharmacologic closure of PDA and association between the criteria and required number of ibuprofen courses were investigated. Results: O2 requirement decreased by PDA closure but was not different between patients with hsPDA and the others with PDA. Also, O2 requirement was not found to be associated with required number of ibuprofen courses. DD and LA:Ao were greater in patients with hsPDA. DD was found to be associated with required number of courses of ibuprofen treatment. Conclusion: Although there was an improvement in O2 requirement with PDA closure, echocardiographic criteria were found to be more valuable in defining hsPDA. DD should also be used to estimate the duration of treatment.
Since the end of the Great Recession in mid-2009, the unemployment rate has recovered slowly, falling by only 1 percentage point from its peak by September 2011. We find that the lackluster labor ...market recovery can be traced in large part to weakness in aggregate demand; only a small part seems attributable to increases in labor market frictions. This continued labor market weakness has led to the highest level of long-term unemployment in the postwar period and a blurring of the distinction between unemployment and nonparticipation in the labor force. We show that flows from nonparticipation to unemployment are important for understanding recent changes in the duration distribution of unemployment. Simulations that account for these flows suggest that the labor market is unlikely to be subject to high levels of structural long-term unemployment after aggregate demand recovers.
Corporate image can be defined as the picture that the organization visualizes in the minds of various audiences. The corporate image must be realistic and convincing since it is the duty of the ...organization to create and maintain trust of the internal and external target audience. Organizational commitment means that employees feel the sense of belonging to the organization and provide an advantage for the organization to benefit from the human resources needed for the continuity of the organization. Researches conducted have showed that employees with high organizational commitment had higher motivation and productivity; however, negative behaviors such as absenteeism, being late to work, and quitting the job were less common. Positive corporate image contributes to provision of high quality service to the organization by ensuring an attractive alternative for qualified personnel, while qualified personnel working with high commitment and motivation to contribute to the development of positive corporate image. This process of interaction increases the rates of preference for the organization by both internal and external stakeholders. Since the scope of services is human health, image management in health institutions is much more difficult and important than other institutions. In order to increase the competitiveness in today's conditions; it is very important that health institution managers work to create a positive corporate image and to increase employees' commitment. In this study, studies examining the relationship between perception of corporate image and organizational commitment in the health sector are evaluated.
Objective: This thesis research is a descriptive study conducted to evaluate the relationship between emotional intelligence and postpartum depression risk and the factors affecting it.Methods: The ...research was carried out between April 1 - September 30, 2018 at Katip Çelebi University Atatürk Training and Research Hospital, Obstetrics Clinic. The universe of the study consisted of women (N = 624) who gave birth between April 1 and September 30, 2018. The sample of the study consisted of 193 women who delivered at the Katip Çelebi University Atatürk Training and Research Hospital's Obstetrics Clinic, agreed to participate in the research and complied with the research criteria. In the first meeting, the participants were applied “Participant Diagnosis Form” and “Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale” and in the second meeting, “Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale” was applied in 6-8 weeks after birth. In the study, t-test was used in independent groups for differences in two-group variables, and ANOVA analysis was used in determining the differences in variables with more than two groups. Tukey analysis was used to determine which two groups differ from the variables determined as a result of ANOVA analysis. All analyzes were carried out through SPSS for Windows V25.0 package program.Results: In the study, the risk of postpartum depression was found to be 10.88%. No statistically significant relationship was found between postpartum depression risk and emotional intelligence (p> 0.05). There is a positive and weak relationship between the risk of postpartum depression and the evaluation of emotions from the sub-dimensions of emotional intelligence (p <0.05). There is no relationship between postpartum depression risk and emotional intelligence sub-dimensions, optimism and the use of emotions (p> 0.05). A statistically significant relationship was found between postpartum depression risk and relationships with spouse and marital satisfaction (p <0.05).Conclusion: At the end of the study, no significant relationship was found between emotional intelligence and postpartum depression. However, there are many studies in the world literature regarding the relationship between emotional intelligence and mental well-being. In our country, studies are needed in different groups.
Using a New Keynesian Phillips curve, we document the rapid and persistent increase in the natural rate of unemployment, ut∗, in the aftermath of the pandemic and characterize its implications for ...inflation dynamics. While the bulk of the inflation surge is attributed to temporary supply factors, we also find an important role for current and expected negative unemployment gaps. Through the lens of the model, the 2022–2023 disinflation was driven by the expectation that the unemployment gap will close through a progressive decline in ut∗ and a rise in the unemployment rate. This implies that convergence to long-run price stability depends, critically, on expectations about labor market tightness. Using a variety of cross-sectional data sources we provide corroborating evidence of unusually tight labor market conditions, consistent with our estimated rise in ut∗.
•We study the unemployment–inflation trade-off with a New Keynesian Phillips curve.•In the model, inflation is determined by supply factors and labor market conditions.•Crucially, we allow the natural rate of unemployment to vary over time.•2022-23 disinflation: abatement of supply shocks/expectation of higher unemployment.•We provide corroborating evidence that labor market has remained tight since 2021.

We build a hybrid model of the aggregate labor market that features both standard labor supply forces and frictions in order to study the cyclical properties of gross worker flows across the three ...labor market states: employment, unemployment, and nonparticipation. Our parsimonious model is able to capture the hey features of the cyclical movements in gross worker flows. Despite the fact that the wage per efficiency unit is constant over time, intertemporal substitution plays an important role in shaping fluctuations in the participation rate.
Bu araştırmada Kitapçı Karabet Efendi adıyla bilinen meşhur matbaacı Karabet Keşişyan’ın (d. 1850 – ö. 1911) matbaasında yayınlanan ve Osmanlı dönemi tarih öğretimine ilişkin materyalleri incelemek ...amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada, Karabet Keşişyan’ın hayatı ve matbaacılık alanındaki çalışmaları hakkında kısa bilgiler verilmiş, Keşişyan’ın kurduğu matbaalarda çıkarılan tarih ders kitapları, tarih öğretimi ile ilgili dergiler ve tarih öğretiminde kullanılabilecek diğer yan kaynaklar tespit edilmiştir. Arşivden bu kaynaklara ulaşılmış, bu kaynaklar arasından bazıları seçilerek, içerik analizi yöntemi aracılığıyla incelenmiş ve tarih eğitimi açısından önemli görülen kısımlar değerlendirilmiştir. Karabet Keşişyan’ın biri kendi adına bir de Kaspar Efendi adında başka bir matbaacı ile beraber “Karabet ve Kaspar Matbaası” adında bir matbaa olmak üzere iki matbaa kurduğu tespit edilmiştir. Keşişyan’ın yaşadığı karmaşık dönem boyunca Osmanlı Devleti’nin gözetiminde kitaplar bastırdığı, II. Abdülhamid ile iyi ilişkilerinin olduğu ve mecidi nişanı ile ödüllendirildiği görülmüştür. Keşişyan’ın aktif olduğu yıllar boyunca matbaalarında, tarih atlası ve haritalar bastırdığı veya bu materyalleri bastırmak için kişisel girişimlerde bulunduğu, bastırdığı atlas ve haritaların kendilerine has özellikler taşıdığı tespit edilmiştir. Keşişyan’ın “Mektep” adında tarih konularını da içerisine alan, rüştiye öğrencileri için hazırlanmış bir dergide imtiyaz sahibi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu bulgulara ek olarak matbaasında 52 adet tarih ders kitabı bastırdığı, bu kitapların içerik ve biçim açılarından karakteristik özelliklere sahip olduğu, tarih ders kitaplarının çoğunun dünya tarihi ile alakalı olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, Kitapçı Karabet Efendi’nin tarih eğitimine katkıları ortaya konarak, matbaalarında bastırdığı eserlerle alakalı yapılabilecek araştırmalara dair öneriler sunulmuştur.
