Highlights ► Organized cervical cancer screening is lacking in most of countries of the EMENA. ► The majority of cervical cancers are diagnosed late, leading to high mortality. ► Women face many ...political, cultural, and financial barriers to gaining access to screening. ► Management of abnormal screening results is neither widely available nor standardized. ► Even with mass vaccination, organized screening programs will still be necessary.
This work identifies a theorical model using the MATLAB software that represents the effect of the surface diffusion length D on the topography and growth dynamics of thin layers obtained by random ...deposition. The obtained results show that the interface roughness becomes smoother at higher diffusion lengths D. For D > 0, the growth exponent varies according to two distinct regimes, β1 = 0.5 presents a completely random growth regime and a constant β2 presents a diffusion regime of particles towards the hollows, which decreases with increasing D. The interface roughness will never saturate at zero diffusion length, while the roughness exponent takes a lower value of about α = 0,1450 at D = 4. Finally, the scaling exponents β, α and z directly depend on the diffusion length D and are not related to the substrate size L. The obtained results agree well with other previous theoretical and experimental works.
Purpose
– The purpose of this paper is to study the influence of friction phenomenon generated by a disc brake on the dynamic behaviour of a one-stage spur gear.
Design/methodology/approach
– A ...theoretical model is proposed and is based on both theories of Coulomb and Dahl in order to analyse the influence of disc brake friction phenomenon on the dynamic behaviour of one-stage spur gear transmission.
Findings
– The influence of brake friction on the dynamic behaviour of the transmission is investigated using the proposed model and leads to observe higher vibration levels when the braking is occurring as well as the emergence of significant efforts at the gear teeth.
Originality/value
– A new numerical model based on the implicit numerical integration technique of Newmark coupled with Newton-Raphson method is proposed to study the influence of friction phenomenon of a disc brake on the dynamic behaviour of one-stage spur gear.
Due to the side effects of chemical drugs, recent studies have targeted new therapeutic approach using natural bioactive molecules. The purpose of the current study was to explore, for the first ...time, the cardiopreventive capacity of Eucalyptus torquata seeds extract (ETS) against myocardial infarction induced by Isoproterenol (ISO) in rats. The phytochemical profile was also targeted. The LC-MS/MS analysis revealed the presence of 53 metabolites belonging to hydroxybenzoic acids, lignans, flavonoids, phloroglucinols, oxocins, organic acids, fatty acids, amino acids, and sugars. The in vivo findings showed that ETS supplementation for 28 days significantly attenuated the cardiotoxicity in adult rats by ameliorating the electrocardiographic pattern (ECG), and reducing the activity of LDH, AST, CK-MB, and troponin-T content compared to the infracted group. Furthermore, ETS reduced the cardiac oxidative stress generated by ISO injection via inhibiting lipid peroxidation and ameliorating the activities of enzymatic antioxidants (SOD, and CAT). Additionally, ETS supplementation attenuated the DNA fragmentation and improved the ultrastructural changes in cardiac tissue. The amelioration of the lipid level (TG, TC, LDL-C, and HDL-C), highlighted the antihyperlipidemic action of ETS. The positive effect of the studied extract against ISO-induced cardiac damage could be related to the bioactive compounds, known as effective antioxidant molecules. The current study provides a preliminary pharmacological support for a potential medicinal application of ETS against cardiovascular pathology.
In this paper, the evolution of the anisotropic behavior of a DC04 sheet during work hardening is analyzed based on a quadratic Hill48 function and under the application of two plasticity approaches: ...associated and non-associated flow rule approaches (AFR and NAFR, respectively). The mechanical properties have been modeled, such as the uniaxial flow stresses σ(θ) and the coefficient of anisotropy r(θ) (or the Lankford parameter). In the identification of anisotropic parameters, the decoupling of the two tensors (strain and stress) under the assumption of non-associated plasticity gives better predictions compared with the experimental. With the purpose of introducing the evolutionary anisotropic path of plastically equivalent characteristics for the uniaxial flow stresses σ(θ), the isotropic hardening of mechanical strain hardening function is presented using the following empirical law based on Voce model. Therefore, the evolution of plastic potential was described by polynomial function based on NAFR approach.
Photovoltaic conversion is a photo-electronic process that involves the interaction between a photo and an electron. The subject is to present a study on the physical principle of operation of a ...photovoltaic cell based on silicon. The external parameters that we have determined from a photovoltaic model are the short-circuit current (Jsc), the open-circuit voltage (Voc) and the photovoltaic conversion efficiency (η), we simulate the photovoltaic parameters by the Solar Cell Capacitance Simulator structures (SCAPS-1D) software whose mathematical model is based on solving the equations of Poisson and continuity of electrons and holes. We used two structures to carry out this study, the first ITO/CdS/Si and the second ZnO/Si/CdS, after having noted their current-voltage characteristic (J-V). In this paper we studied the effect of the temperature and the doping concentration on the two structures of heterojunction solar cell. The highest performance value for the ZnO/CdS/Si heterojunction solar cell was simulated as 29.3 %. The performance value for the ITO/CdS/Si structure was increased to 29.7 % with the impact of the ITO antireflective layer.
1 wt. % Co-doped ZnO (CZO) thin films of varying thicknesses (3, 5 and 7 layers, which correspond to 403, 545 and 725 nm as thickness) are deposited using the sol-gel method onto glass substrates by ...dip coating technique. Zinc acetate dehydrate, cobalt acetate, 2-methoxyethanol and ethanolamine are used as primary materials, solvent and stabilizer, respectively. The thermally annealed films are characterized to study the structural, surface morphology, electrical and optical properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) shows that these films have a polycrystalline hexagonal structure (wurtzite structure with space group P63mc), possessing compressive stress and presenting a preferred orientation along the (002) plane. We note that the particle size increases when the thickness increases. The surface morphology of the prepared CZO thin films is investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM). It reveals the emergence of a uniform columnar structure and shows that the particle size and the root mean square (RMS) of CZO increase with increasing thickness. UV-visible spectroscopy shows (in the visible region) a transmittance between 75 and 86 % for all the films, strong absorption (in the UV region) and a decrease in the optical band gap. Moreover, the near band edge (NBE) and visible emissions detected by photoluminescence are affected by the thickness. The electrical conductivity of the sample with 725 nm is found to be 4.43 (cm) – 1.
We report first principle study of Nowotny Chimney Ladder silicide Os2Si3, calculated using the full-potential augmented plane-wave method based on the density functional theory. Thus, total energies ...and energy gap values were determined within the local density and conjugate gradient approximations, using also their correction called: the modified Becke-Johnson potential, in order to treat the exchange-correlation potential energy. Our results show that this compound exhibits semiconducting character with a direct gap at the Γ point of the Brillouin zone, which is confirmed by other experimental and theoretical works. Results on band structures, density of states, and charge-density distributions are presented. In addition, we performed calculations of optical properties by determining the complex dielectric function from which are derived the other parameters.
