Los estudios de género han llevado a develar las formas como mujeres y hombres se relacionan en diferentes espacios sociales, encontrando que se sigue identificando a lo masculino como figura que ...representa lo universal y a la mujer en busca de un espacio constante para legitimar la igualdad de sus derechos. En esta revisión se presentarán perspectivas teóricas y reflexivas producto del trabajo en el semillero de género: Nuevas Construcciones de género y sexualidad en Colombia de la Institución Universitaria Politécnico Grancolombiano. Se mostrarán los conceptos de género y sexualidad, para luego establecer la perspectiva de trabajo en diversos contextos.

A Indicação Geográfica (IG) é estudada no contexto da propriedade intelectual e é regulamentada pela Lei da Propriedade Industrial. O Estado do Pará é extremamente rico em biodiversidade com ...potencial para ter suas origens protegidas por esse signo distintivo, porém, possui apenas um registro concedido. Vários estudos tentam evidenciar a relação da IG com o processo de desenvolvimento territorial, em várias regiões do Brasil. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a construção e a influência da IG do cacau de Tomé-Açú como instrumento de desenvolvimento territorial e de reconhecimento de comunidades locais, e prospectar a existência de produtos ou serviços que eventualmente estejam no centro de novas articulações de proteção. Foram realizadas pesquisas bibliográfica, documental e de campo, tendo como recorte espacial o município de Tomé-Açú. A pesquisa teve abordagem quanti-qualitativa, a partir de estudo de caso e história oral. Identificou-se que, embora ainda não haja benefícios econômicos concretos advindos da IG, esta pode contribuir no processo de desenvolvimento territorial e no reconhecimento de comunidades locais, além de ter potencial para inovar no processo de produção e comercialização do cacau.
Los sistemas híbridos de tomografía por emisión de positrones (PET) y resonancia magnética (RM) son una tecnología prometedora para el diagnóstico por imagen, pero su aplicación cardiovascular en ...nuestro entorno clínico es desconocida. Nuestro objetivo es evaluar el valor de los equipos integrados de PET/RM frente a la RM y la PET por separado.
Se incluyó prospectivamente a 49 pacientes, 30 para valoración de viabilidad miocárdica (grupo coronario) y 19 para estudio de enfermedad inflamatoria, infecciosa y tumoral (grupo no coronario), a los que se realizó una PET/RM cardiaca con 18F-fluorodesoxiglucosa, incluyendo secuencias de corrección de atenuación y, simultáneamente a la PET, secuencias de cine, caracterización tisular o realce tardío de RM, según indicación clínica.
El 87,8% de los estudios de PET/RM fueron inicialmente interpretables. La PET/RM mejoró el diagnóstico en el 42,1% de los pacientes del grupo coronario respecto a la PET o la RM por separado, y en el 88,9% del grupo no coronario. De los casos no concluyentes según la RM o la PET, la PET/RM reclasificó a estudio diagnóstico al 87,5% de los pacientes del grupo coronario y el 70% de los del no coronario.
En nuestra serie, la tecnología multimodal de PET/RM añade valor diagnóstico en algunos pacientes con enfermedad cardiovascular, sobre todo en enfermedad no coronaria y con hallazgos no concluyentes por RM o PET, y complementa cada técnica por separado. Los principales beneficios incluyen la adquisición simultánea, la integración de imágenes anatómicas, funcionales y metabólicas y la interacción entre distintos profesionales expertos en imagen.
Hybrid positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is an emerging technology in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease; however, there have been no reports of its use in the national clinical setting. Our objective was to evaluate the additional value of integrated PET/MR systems compared with MR and PET performed separately in this setting.
We prospectively included 49 patients, 30 to assess myocardial viability (coronary group) and 19 to assess inflammatory, infectious, and tumoral diseases (noncoronary heart disease group). All patients underwent cardiac 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET/MR. PET/MR studies included attenuation correction sequences, followed by simultaneous cardiac PET and cardiac MR acquisition, with protocols adapted to the clinical indication (cine, tissue characterization and/or late enhancement imaging).
Most (87.8%) PET/MR studies were initially interpretable. Use of PET/MR improved diagnosis vs PET or MR performed separately in 42.1% of coronary cases and 88.9% of noncoronary cases. PET/MR enabled reclassification of 87.5% of coronary cases initially classified as showing inconclusive results on MR or PET and 70% of noncoronary cases.
In our series, multimodality PET/MR technology provided additional diagnostic value in some patients with cardiovascular disease compared with MR and PET performed separately, especially in cases of noncoronary heart disease and in those with inconclusive results on MR or PET. In our experience, the main benefits of PET/MR include the possibility of simultaneous acquisition, the in vivo integration of anatomical/functional/metabolic aspects, and the interaction of different experts in imaging modalities.
Svrha: Željelo se predstaviti netipičan slučaj C-oblika kanala u vestibularnom korijenu trajnoga maksilarnog kutnjaka, a pritom su korišteni kompjutorizirana 3D tomografija koničnom zrakom (CBCT) i
...dijagnostički uređaj PreXion. Materijali i metode: Nakon rutinskoga pregleda 50-godišnja pacijentica upućena je u privatnu dijagnostičko-radiološku kliniku u Recife-Pernambucu u Brazilu. Tijekom pregleda uočena je neuobičajena anatomija vestibularnog kanala u obliku velikoga slova C s meziodistalnom anastomozom koja se protezala od apikalne do cervikalne trećine, a otkrivena je aksijalnim rezovima na uređaju PreXion 3D. Rezultati: Premda se C-oblici korijenskih kanala najčešće nalaze u drugim mandibularnim kutnjacima, u ovom radu opisana je rijetka pojava u drugom maksilarnom trajnom molaru. Zaključak: PreXion 3-D CBCT najnoviji je uređaj visoke rezolucije koji pomaže pri postavljanju dijagnoza anatomskih varijacija poput C-oblika korijenskih kanala. Ipak, uporaba takvih sustava prikazivanja ne preporučuje se u rutinskoj uporabi.
The search for alternative antimicrobial agents is attracting increasing scientific interest. Natural products of plant origin are sources of several substances with proven biological activities, ...including antimicrobial activity. The encapsulation of these products in the form of a nanoemulsion seeks to overcome problems inherent to these products, such as instability and degradation. Based on these considerations, we carried out a bibliographical survey of nanoemulsions produced from plant-derived substances, such as essential oils and extracts, with antimicrobial potential, focusing on antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral activities. Articles and documents published in scientifically relevant journals, as well as keywords classified from Health Sciences Descriptors, were used. All documents relevant to this search reported that nanoemulsions loaded with essential oils and plant extracts from different botanical species had in vitro antimicrobial activity against different microorganisms of medical importance, in addition to enhancing the antimicrobial effects of these bioproducts. Therefore, nanostructured antimicrobials with essential oils and plant extracts can be considered treatment options for microbial diseases: due to their physicochemical properties, they act as better delivery vehicles for natural products with good bioavailability, by reducing toxicity and prolonging the useful life of these natural antimicrobials, thus enhancing treatment for infectious human diseases.
Abstract The stimulatory input of extracellular matrix (ECM) components has been implicated in the invasive properties of glioma cells. It has been demonstrated that undersulfation of ...glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) promoted by sodium chlorate (SC) treatment reduces C6 glioma cell proliferation and adhesion to ECM molecules, in-vitro. In the present study, the authors investigated the involvement of GAG undersulfation in glioma cell growth in the brain parenchyma. The in-vitro treatment of C6 cells with SC and subsequent intracerebral inoculation in vehicle containing SC resulted in a reduced proportion of animals bearing glioma and a reduced tumor mass diameter. It also promoted longer animal survival. Intracerebral inoculation of SC-treated C6 cells in vehicle without SC or the SC treatment after intracerebral implantation of untreated C6 cells did not result in any reduction of tumor growth. Alterations in clinical, hematological and behavioral parameters in the open field were observed near the point of death when tumors presented a greater size. The results suggest an important role of GAGs in glioma growth which possibly affects cell proliferation and/or interactions with the normal tissue environment.
Introdução: Medidas socioespaciais são amplamente utilizadas na pesquisa em saúde, mas ainda pouco exploradas em relação ao câncer de boca. Objetivo: Descrever as características sociodemográficas e ...clínicas do câncer de boca e analisar a distribuição espacial da doença em relação ao status socioeconômico do bairro, incluindo a disponibilidade de centros de saúde. Método: Foram coletados dados sociodemográficos, clínicos e histopatológicos dos pacientes atendidos no período de 2005 a 2015. Foram realizadas análises descritivas dos dados de todas as variáveis. A análise espacial foi realizada por meio do programa R. A distribuição geográfica dos endereços residenciais dos pacientes foi analisada usando a função K de Ripley e mapas de Kernel. A vulnerabilidade socioespacial foi definida pela renda familiar e adequação do domicílio. Resultados: Dos 127 pacientes incluídos, a maioria era do sexo masculino (76,4%), branca ou parda (82,7%), casada (35,4%), com baixa escolaridade (71,6%) e idade média de 59,5 anos. Os casos foram distribuídos em grupos caracterizados por menor renda mediana e condições sanitárias inadequadas. Conclusão: Os casos de câncer oral estão concentrados em regiões de baixa condição econômica. Embora os centros de atenção primária à saúde tenham sido homogeneamente distribuídos por toda a cidade, isso não é suficiente para promover o acesso dos pacientes e o câncer de boca continua sendo diagnosticado tardiamente.

The corneal biopermanence of a topical ophthalmic formulation containing gellan gum and kappa carragenan (0.82% wt/vol) labeled with 18Fluorine (18F) radiotracers (18F-FDG and 18F-NaF) was evaluated by using a dedicated small-animal PET/CT, and compared with the biopermanence of an aqueous solution labeled with the same compounds. Regions of interest (ROIs) were manually drawn on the reconstructed PET images for quantifying the radioactivity concentration in the eye. The biopermanence of the formulations was determined by measuring the radioactivity concentration at different times after topical application. Additionally, cellular and ex vivo safety assays were performed to assess the safety of the performed procedures.
Differences were observed in the ocular pharmacokinetics of the two formulations. After 1.5 hours of contact, 90% of the hydrogel remained in the ocular surface, while only 69% of the control solution remained. Furthermore, it was observed that flickering had a very important role in the approach of the trial. The application of 18F-FDG in the eye was neither irritating nor cytotoxic for human corneal epithelial cells.
The use of small-animal PET and 18F radiotracers in ocular pharmacokinetics of ophthalmic formulations is feasible and could be a safe method for future ocular pharmacokinetic studies in humans.
Abstract The aim of the present study was to assess the risk of deviation of the root canals prepared by 3 HERO rotary systems, used solely or in association, by means of preoperative and ...postoperative imaging of a cross-section of their coronal, middle, and apical thirds. Fifty mesiobuccal canals of human first molars were randomly divided into 5 groups of 10 specimens each: group A, HERO 642; group B, HERO 642 + HERO Apical; group C, HERO Shaper; group D, HERO Shaper + HERO Apical; group E (control), NitiFlex files. Fisher exact test showed that the differences between the percentages of the presence of deviation and the differences observed between the proportions of instrumented and noninstrumented walls were not statistically significant. No system presented absolute effectiveness, because each of them produced morphologic changes and failed to instrument all the walls of the root canals. A level of significance of .05 was adopted.
