Social networking sites are built to be user-friendly, easy to navigate, easily connect to new people, can be obtained for free, and make them open to everybody. This quantitative study was conducted ...to identify the influence of social media on sexual misconduct behavior among adolescents. A total of 191 secondary school students from the northern zone of Peninsular Malaysia were involved in this study by random sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS-23. This study found that the use of social media among secondary school students is high, where the majority spend more than five hours a day. The purpose of dating among young Malays is more focused on discussing matters of love. The study also found that social media does not influence sexual misconduct, but a negative relationship exists between religiosity and sexual misconduct. The predictor of sexual misconduct purpose items contributes 30.6% (p < 0.01) of the variance change in religiosity. Also, sexual misconduct among males is much higher than in female adolescence. The more surprising finding is that there are samples of social media accounts for gays, and some Malay youth's interest in dating is meant to do evil or discuss sex. Therefore, social media users could partake in more risky sexual behaviors because of a larger peer network influencing their attitudes and social norms. The current findings are expected to signal parents, teachers, the community, and the Ministry of Education Malaysia to take proactive measures to address this issue.
Epoxy nanocomposites with float catalysis-produced CNT felt as a filler were prepared. Parameters such as the curing process, glass transition of epoxynanocomposites, structure and morphology of CNT ...felt, initial epoxy composition, and epoxy nanocomposites were investigated. The influence of CNT felt on curing process in epoxy nanocomposites with different amounts of curing agent was determined. An exothermic reaction between the curing agent and the surface of CNTs was established. It was found that the structure of epoxy nanocomposites has a high degree of heterogeneity: the presence of fiber-like structures and individualized CNTs is observed together with the regions that are typical for CNTs that are fabricated via a catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Based on the studies performed, it is possible to predict the production of epoxy nanocomposites with outstanding mechanical and thermophysical properties. In particular, the uncured compositions already obtained in this work can be used for the manufacture of electrically conductive glass and carbon fiber reinforced plastics and functional coatings.
Onion-like carbon (OLC) particles were produced as a byproduct of thermal partial oxidation of methane under different O
2
/Natural Gas (NG) ratio. It was established that the particles have ...quasi-spherical morphology and concentric shell structure. The particles have an outer diameter of 20-60 nm while the inner cage is rather typical for onions and has a diameter below 1 nm. The concentric graphitic structure and spherical symmetry along with the absence of amorphous carbon were confirmed by transmission electron microscopy, electron diffraction, EDX spectroscopy and Raman investigation. Variation of O
2
/NG ratio was proved a powerful tool for controlling OLC particles yield and structure. The formation of single-core or multicore OLC can be controlled by thermal partial oxidation process.
Acute pain is the most common early complication after total knee arthroplasty causing delayed mobilization and increased demands of morphine, leading to higher operative cost. Several studies have ...assessed the effectiveness, side-effects, and ease of use of various analgesics. Preemptive analgesia with combined celecoxib and pregabalin has been reported to yield positive outcomes. In this randomized, double-blind controlled clinical trial, 30 subjects underwent surgery for total knee arthroplasty using 15-20mg bupivacaine 5% epidural anesthesia. All subjects were divided into three groups. Group 1 was given celecoxib 400mg and pregabalin 150mg 1 hour before the operation, Group 2 was given celecoxib 200mg and pregabalin 75mg twice daily starting from 3 days before the operation, and Group 3 was given a placebo. The outcome was measured with Visual Analog Scale, knee range of motion, and postoperative mobilization. There was a significant difference in postoperative morphine usage between the groups that were administered with preemptive analgesia and the placebo group, but no significant difference was found between Group 1 and Group 2 that were given preemptive analgesia at different doses. ROM and postoperative mobilization were not significantly different among the three groups. Two patients in the first group, one patient in the second group, and one patient in the third group developed nausea. Preemptive analgesia is proven to reduce postoperative usage of morphine independent of the dosage. We recommend the use of combined celecoxib and pregabalin as preemptive analgesia after the total knee arthroplasty procedure. This trial is registered with NCT03523832 (ClinicalTrials.gov).
In the context of rapid technological progress and new technologies introduction, global trends in the development of modern language education require the recognition of multiculturalism as one of ...the essential components of human life in the modern world. Therefore, the issues of co-learning languages and cultures in modern educational institutions systems in terms of multilingualism and increasing demands for scientific and methodological integration in the field of teaching languages are of particular relevance. The main goals of the research were to compile and systematize theoretical comprehension of language as a unique cultural phenomenon and to describe the language structure of seven major world languages (English, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, French, German), along with nine national languages of the Russian Federation, through the prism of significant cultural phenomena and mentality particular features of the native speakers.Another goal was to develop common didactic principles for the description of different structure languages and to introduce this approach into practical language teaching. The leading method for studying the problem is the descriptive (descriptive-analytical) method, which enables representing the language as a structural and social whole, as well as a comparative method as a system of techniques and methods of analysis used to identify the general and the particular in the compared languages. The principle of co-learning of language and culture is consistently implemented in the book "TERRA LINGUÆ: In the Realm of Language, Languages in the World by Chugaeva and Kondakov (2018), which is an example of a theoretical model of languages presentation through the prism of the interaction of language and culture. The authors of this model distinguish linguistic and linguocultural principles as fundamental in the process of co-learning of language and culture. The stated problems are of theoretical and practical importance for the continuation of studies of multi-structural languages and cultures, and approximation, thus, to a more complete description of the modern language picture of the world; for the development of meaningful content of language disciplines.
Monitoring the thermal state of windings of electrical machines is a backbone for protection from unacceptable overheating. A large number of different methods and systems aim to solve this problem. ...This article discusses the main known methods of thermal protection of electric motors and provides their comparative analysis. This paper shows that the most promising methods are those based on control of the current active resistance of the stator winding, as its value uniquely depends on temperature. It is demonstrated that the known methods have a number of disadvantages. A new phase method for thermal protection of AC motors is proposed. The method is based on the fact that a temperature-induced change in the active and reactive components of the winding impedance causes a corresponding change in the angle between the vectors of phase voltages and currents. This allows for thermal protection by controlling the change in this angle. This article provides tabular analytical substantiation of the proposed method, which is based on the direct measurements of voltage and current and the subsequent algorithmic calculation of physical values functionally related to the sought angle. The authors develop a structural block diagram of a device that implements the proposed thermal protection method. All relevant experimental studies were carried out. In this case, a small-sized electronic thermometer with a remote digital temperature sensor connected to the USB port of a personal computer was used as a temperature meter. The results obtained confirm the functional capability and efficiency of the proposed technical solution.
Treating ischemic pain (IP) is challenging because of complex mechanisms involved in its pathogenesis. We report a case of pain management in a patient with acute on chronic limb-threatening ischemia ...(CLTI) treated with continuous popliteal sciatic block (CPSB). Microcirculation was measured using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS). The patient was a 44-year-old male with acute exacerbation of CLTI of left leg. Excruciating pain was described as being stabbed in the left toe with burning sensation radiating to ankle (VAS score 9-10), 3 to 4 times a day with duration of 30 to 60 min each episode. CT Angiography showed wide arterial occlusions and thrombi in veins of left lower limb. ABI was 0,71. He was on heparin so we decided to do CPSB with patient controlled regional analgesia (PCRA) pump of ropivacaine 0.375%. Before catheter insertion, NIRS was measured on dorsum pedis. SrO2 increased from 24 to 32% within 30 min after initial bolus. Episodes of severe pain still felt with only little relief when pressing PCRA pump. Daily chart showed increasing ropivacaine utilization with discrepancy between attempted and given dose. SrO2 fluctuated between 25 to 32%. On the third day evaluation, we switched to multimodal analgesia. However, pain attacks increased in frequency, intensity and duration. Ischemic area in foot expanded rapidly. High dose methyl prednisolone was initiated. Amputation was suggested but refused by the patient. Peripheral nerve block does not completely block ischemic pain, despite adequate motor block. However, it may be beneficial in cases of CLTI by maintaining blood flow, thus inhibiting the progression of ischemia. In this patient, it is evident that upon cessation of CPSB, the condition of the leg deteriorated rapidly. The patient's position during spinal anesthesia administration plays a major role in the success of spinal needle insertion into the subarachnoid space. The traditional sitting position (TSP) is the ...standard position for spinal anesthesia administration, but the success rate for spinal anesthesia administration in the TSP is still quite low. The crossed-leg sitting position (CLSP) is one of the alternative positions for the administration of spinal anesthesia, which can increase the degree of lumbar flexion.
This study aimed to compare successful spinal needle placement to patients in the CLSP and patients in the TSP prior to undergoing urology surgery.
This study was a non-blinded, randomized controlled trial in patients undergoing spinal anesthesia for urologic procedures from March-October, 2015 in the central national hospital Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo, Indonesia. After obtaining approval from the FMUI - RSCM (Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia - Rumah Sakit Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo) Ethical Committee and informed consent from patients, 211 subjects were allocated into two groups: the CLSP group (n = 105) and the TSP group (n = 106). The proportion of successful spinal needle placement to the subarachnoid space, ease of landmark palpation, and the number of needle-bone contacts in both groups were then assessed and analyzed.
The rate of first-time successful spinal needle insertion was not significantly different between the CLSP and TSP groups (62.9% versus 55.7%, P > 0.05). Ease of landmark palpation in the CLSP group was not significantly different from that in the TSP group (86.7% versus 76.4%, P > 0.05). The number of needle-bone contacts in both groups were not significantly different (P > 0.05). The complication rates were similar in both groups.
The rate of successful spinal needle placement in the CLSP group was not significantly different from that in the TSP group in patients undergoing urology surgery. The CLSP can be used as an alternative sitting position for administration of spinal anesthesia.
