In June 2023, we performed a comprehensive search of ...ClinicalTrials.gov to identify interventional clinical trials pertaining to root canal sealers. In total, 23 clinical trials conducted up to June 2023 were included in this study.
Approximately half of the trials (11 out of 23) were completed, while none were terminated or withdrawn. Each included trial had a minimum of 10 participants, with 11 trials having more than 100 participants. None of the assessed trials provided outcomes, and the majority (17 out of 23) lacked associated publications. In terms of geographic distribution, the USA and Canada did not contribute to any root canal sealer trials.
This study highlights the lack of diversity in trial locations, the absence of reported results, and a scarcity of clinical trials examining the physicochemical properties of different sealers. Most published trials primarily focused on assessing the post-operative pain effect of these sealers, but no significant difference was found regarding post-operative pain control.

Recent research shows promising developments in dental bone grafts. This review presents the results of several clinical trials and provides updates on current alveolar bone grafting.
In May 2023, we searched Clinicaltrials.gov for interventional clinical trials related to alveolar bone grafting. A total of 66 clinical trials were included using Boolean Operators AND, OR, NOT we used the “advanced search” option with the search terms Alveolar Bone Grafting OR Ridge Preservation OR Dental Bone Grafting OR Ridge Augmentation. Reviewed publications are summarized.
28 out of the 66 trials were successfully completed. None of the trials had offered an invitation to enroll, and only one was terminated. Autograft was the most prevalent kind of grafting, at 28 out of 66, more than twice as prevalent as allograft, which ranked second at 12 out of 66.
this study shows a lack of variety in location, low results provided, and low clinical trials regarding bone rejection. The focus of published trials was mainly on cleft palate rehabilitation using secondary alveolar bone grafting, and the usage of L-prf, rh-FGF-2, rhBMP2, and hyaluronic acid in association with alveolar bone grafting showed remarkable results concerning bone's osteoconduction, osteoinduction, and osteogenesis.
Objectives:
Periodontal disease attained global concern especially after several studies linked periodontal disease with systemic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, and ...cancer. Moreover, the prevalence of these systemic diseases among Lebanese population is considerably high. However, the knowledge regarding the periodontal health and related systemic diseases is unknown. The purpose of this questionnaire-based cross-sectional study was to examine Lebanese University students’ knowledge concerning periodontal health and related systemic diseases.
Materials and Methods:
In total, 461 students out of 520 took part between November 22, 2022, and December 1, 2022, with a 88.6% response rate and were asked to complete an online survey that included questions concerning healthy periodontium and its relation with systemic diseases.
Results:
The data revealed a poor knowledge regarding the relationship between periodontal disease and systemic diseases such as diabetes (27.5%), cardiovascular complications (28.9%), adverse pregnancy outcomes (27.5%), cancer (39.5%), respiratory problems (30.2%), and arthritis (22.1%). However, participants were aware of the healthy color and consistency of the periodontium (83.5%), (66.2%), and the need for dental check-ups (68.1%); moreover, public university and senior health-related students appeared with higher knowledge, compared with private and junior university students (

Conclusion:
Knowledge regarding oral health in general and periodontal health specifically must be improved among university students. Therefore, awareness campaigns must be held to increase knowledge among them and consequently among their families regarding periodontal health.
This pilot randomized controlled trial protocol aims to (1) assess the impact on the wellbeing of Syrian refugee young adults (18–24 years) of being a community mental health worker (CMHW) ...implementing WHO's evidence-based psychosocial intervention - Problem Management Plus (PM+) - with adults in their community, and (2) identify the mechanisms associated with the outcomes of enhanced wellbeing and coping, and reduced stress among these CMHWs. Over 108 million people have been forcibly displaced as of the end of 2022. Mental health consequences of these displacements are significant, yet human resources for health are not sufficient to meet the needs. A large proportion of refugee populations are youth and young adults (YA). Evidence indicates their engagement in supporting their communities leads to their own enhanced wellbeing and that of their community. This trial trains Syrian refugees to serve their communities as CMHW (n=19) or tutors (n=19) and compare wellbeing, stress and coping outcomes between these two groups and a control group (n = 40). We will also assess 7 mechanisms as potential pathways for the interventions to influence outcomes. Surveys will assess outcomes and mechanisms, hair samples will measure stress cortisol. The primary analysis will use a Bayesian Hierarchical Model approach to model the trajectories of the mechanisms and primary study endpoints over time for individuals in each of the arms. Our results will elucidate critical mechanisms in which engagement of young adults to support their community enhances their own wellbeing.

Colonoscopy is the cornerstone of diagnosing colonic diseases. Investigators have evaluated the effectiveness of antispasmodic agents in colonoscopy with conflicting evidence. The aim of this study ...is to determine the efficacy of enteric coated peppermint oil capsules (Colpermin®), an antispasmodic agent, on outcomes during colonoscopy.
A total of 80 patients undergoing elective colonoscopy were recruited and randomized in a double blinded fashion to receive either placebo or peppermint oil capsules administered 4 h prior to the procedure.
Peppermint oil capsules did not affect caecal intubation time when compared with placebo. Patients’ tolerance, endoscopist’s satisfaction and demand on sedation were also not affected.
This randomized controlled trial does not support the routine use of peppermint oil capsules prior to colonoscopy as a tool for procedure optimization, and patients’ and endoscopist’s satisfaction.
The anti-inflammatory effect of two new thiazoles derivatives CX-32 (N-4-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1,3-thiazol-2-ylacetamide) and CX-35 (4-(2-amino-1,3-thiazol-4-yl)-2-methoxyphenol), was ...investigated in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cell line. Synthesis, structure analysis and purity of these compounds were evaluated by high performance liquid chromatography, H1 NMR, and C13 NMR. Assessment of CX-32 and CX-35 inhibitory effect on cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) activity was achieved by incubating LPS-activated RAW cells with 25 μM, 50 μM or 100 μM of CX-32 or CX-35 respectively. Levels of secreted PGE2 were evaluated by enzyme immunoassay (EIA) and levels of COX-2 protein were measured by western blot. Finally, cell viability experiments were undertaken to assess the toxicity of each compound. Treatment of LPS-activated RAW cells with 25 μM, 50 μM, or 100 μM of CX-35 or CX-32 respectively, prevented the production of prostaglandins, but was without effect on COX-2 protein levels. Moreover, CX-35 and CX-32 reduced PGE2 production to levels comparable to those obtained in LPS-activated RAW cells incubated with the selective COX-2 inhibitor NS 398. Furthermore, both CX-32 and CX-35 showed no toxic effects, since viability of non-treated Hela cells was similar to Hela cells incubated with either CX-35 or CX-32. Our data demonstrated that CX-32 and CX-35 significantly blocked prostaglandin production induced during inflammatory cellular stress, possibly acting through specific COX-2 inhibition; confirmation of this hypothesis requires further investigation.
