During field surveys conducted in northern Jordan from June to November 2020, phytoplasma‐like symptoms, including leaf yellowing/reddening and rolling, little leaf and witches' broom were observed ...in pomegranate. Disease incidence in 22 surveyed orchards ranged from 30% to 65%. Nested PCR‐based amplification of 16S rRNA gene detected phytoplasmas in 17% of collected symptomatic pomegranate trees. Amplicon nucleotide sequence analyses allowed attributing the detected phytoplasmas to ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’, ‘Ca. P. aurantifolia’, ‘Ca. P. asteris’ and ‘Ca. P. ulmi’. These phytoplasmas were found in plants showing specific symptoms and differentially distributed in the considered locations. Additionally, three cicadellids (Macrosteles sexnotatus, Cicadulina bipunctata and Psammotettix striatus) and two non‐crop plants (Plantago major and Capsicum annuum) resulted hosting ‘Ca. P. asteris’ strains, and one cicadellid (Balclutha incisa) was carrying a ‘Ca. P. solani’ strain. A new pomegranate disease complex associated with multiple phytoplasmas, including ‘Ca. P. aurantifolia’ and ‘Ca. P. ulmi’, never reported before in this host plant, is described here. Moreover, preliminary indications are provided on its possible epidemiology in Jordan, involving two putative insect vectors (M. sexnotatus, B. incisa) first reported in the Country.
PCR‐based amplification and sequence analyses of 16S rRNA gene detected ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma solani’, ‘Ca. P. aurantifolia’, ‘Ca. P. asteris’ and ‘Ca. Further studies are needed to verify the diffusion of pomegranate phytoplasma‐associated diseases in the region and demonstrate the transmission capability of the identified phytoplasma positive insects.
Isotretinoin is a widely used, effective medication for moderate to severe acne. It is typically used for several months, which necessitates regular laboratory monitoring. However, consensus on the ...optimal assessment frequency is lacking.
This is a single-center retrospective study on 1182 patients who received isotretinoin for acne at the Dermatology Clinic in Jordan University Hospital over 5 years.
Of the 1182 patients, 892 (76.57% females) met the inclusion criteria. An increase in the proportion of patients with abnormal triglycerides and total cholesterol levels from baseline to the sixth month was observed (
< 0.05). Conversely, differences in the number of patients with abnormal AST, ALT, and CBC were not found throughout treatment (
> 0.05). Moreover, there was a decrease in the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) ratio and systemic inflammatory index (SII) after the sixth month of isotretinoin treatment compared to the baseline (
= 0.012 and
= 0.021, respectively).
We found that a baseline cholesterol level of 163.9 mg/dl and a baseline triglycerides level of 85.5 mg/dL are highly specific and sensitive in detecting grade 1 abnormalities at the one-month follow-up. This novel prediction approach serves as an effective risk stratification method for isotretinoin acne patients.

News accuracy has been a significant issue for media organizations. However, Arabic errata texts have been neglected in academic research. The purpose of the present study is to identify the generic ...structural components of errata published in three different types of Arabic texts. We attempt to analyse the generic structure of these texts and determine the linguistic signals used to indicate these components. The paper also sheds light on the different kinds of errors found in Arabic texts and the functions they communicate to readers. For this, we collected and analysed 120 errata from Arabic daily newspapers, academic journals, and popular magazines. For our data analysis, we drew on the genre analysis framework pioneered by Swales (1990) and further adapted by other researchers such as Al-Ali (2005). We additionally referred to Bugeja and Peterson (2007) for classifying the types of errors. The study results show that the analysed Arabic errata texts followed a generic structure comprising eight component moves. Further, objective errors were found to be more frequent than subjective errors in Arabic newspapers and academic journals. We hope that similar future studies further the current understanding of genre identification and construction, especially in Arabic errata texts.
Adolescence is a very important stage, especially in the life of the talented students. This research aimed at identifying the effect of a group counseling program in enhancing the ability to form ...friendship among a sample of academically talented students at Halima Al-Saadia Secondary School in Jordan. The researchers used Semi-experimental approach. The study sample consisted of (29) students from seventh to tenth grades, they were randomly distributed into experimental group (n=16), and control group (n=13). And a group counseling program consisted of 9 sessions has been developed and applied among the experimental group. In addition to that forming friendship scale has been developed and administrated among the participants in the two groups, pre, post applying the program, and a three weeks follow up measurement was conducted to the experimental group. Mann-Whitney test was used to examine the hypotheses validity. The results revealed increasing the level of forming friendship among the participants of the experimental group comparing with the control group, with (39.00) Mann-Whitney value, which shows the effectiveness of the training program. Also there were no statistically differences in the experimental group means due to the birth order in the effectiveness of the program, and a persistent effect of the program after –three weeks follow-up. This research sheds light on the talented adolescents in the government schools not a talented school, add to that the research focuses on the social aspect while the studies addressed the academic aspects of gifted and talented students.
