Spherical harmonic moments are well-suited for capturing anisotropy at any scale in the flux of cosmic rays. An unambiguous measurement of the full set of spherical harmonic coefficients requires ...full-sky coverage. This can be achieved by combining data from observatories located in both the northern and southern hemispheres. To this end, a joint analysis using data recorded at the Telescope Array and the Pierre Auger Observatory above 10 super(19) eV is presented in this work. The resulting multipolar expansion of the flux of cosmic rays allows us to perform a series of anisotropy searches, and in particular to report on the angular power spectrum of cosmic rays above 10 super(19) eV. No significant deviation from isotropic expectations is found throughout the analyses performed. Upper limits on the amplitudes of the dipole and quadrupole moments are derived as a function of the direction in the sky, varying between 7% and 13% for the dipole and between 7% and 10% for a symmetric quadrupole.

In this study, we measured the levels of soluble intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM1), plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in 79 morbidly obese patients at baseline and 3, 6 and 12 months after gastric bypass. Also, we evaluated changes in IR.
Twelve months after surgery, there was a significant decrease in plasma levels of sICAM1 (p < 0.001), PAI-1 (p < 0.05), hs-CRP (p < 0.001), IL-6 (p < 0.001) and homeostasis model assessment (HOMA) (p < 0.001) and a significant increase of McAuley index (McAuley) (p < 0.001). Baseline levels of hs-PCR were positively correlated with sICAM-1 (r = 0.450, p < 0.01) and IL-6 (r = 0.451, p < 0.01). Significant correlations were also found between the decrease of PAI-1 and the decrease of hs-PCR (r = 0.425, p < 0.01) and tryglicerides (r = 0.351, p < 0.01).
In patients with morbid obesity, substantial surgically induced weight loss is followed by a significant improvement in the endothelial function, inflammatory state and insulin sensitivity, that may reduce their cardiovascular risk. A relationship exists between improved inflammatory profile and endothelial function.
The Q&U Bolometric Interferometer for Cosmology (QL’BIC) is the first bolometric interferometer designed to measure the primordial B-mode polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). ...Bolometric interferometry is a novel technique that combines the sensitivity of bolometric detectors with the control of systematic effects that is typical of interferometry, both key features in the quest for the faint signal of the primordial B-modes. A unique feature is the so-called “spectral imaging”, i.e., the ability to recover the sky signal in several sub-bands within the physical band during data analysis. This feature provides an in-band spectral resolution of ∆v/v ~ 0.04 that is unattainable by a traditional imager. This is a key tool for controlling the Galactic foregrounds contamination. In this paper, we describe the principles of bolometric interferometry, the current status of the QU BIC experiment and future prospects.

With the exponential growth of social media, that is, blogs and social networks, organizations and individual persons are increasingly using the number of reviews of these media for decision-making ...about a product or service. Opinion mining detects whether the emotions of an opinion expressed by a user on Web platforms in natural language are positive or negative. This paper presents extensive experiments to study the effectiveness of the classification of Spanish opinions in five categories: highly positive, highly negative, positive, negative and neutral, using the combination of the psychological and linguistic features of LIWC (Linguistic Inquiry and Word Count). LIWC is a text analysis software that enables the extraction of different psychological and linguistic features from natural language text. For this study, two corpora have been used, one about movies and one about technological products. Furthermore, we conducted a comparative assessment of the performance of various classification techniques, J48, SMO and BayesNet, using precision, recall and F-measure metrics. The findings revealed that the positive and negative categories provide better results than the other categories. Finally, experiments on both corpora indicated that SMO produces better results than BayesNet and J48 algorithms, obtaining an F-measure of 90.4 and 87.2% in each domain.
We analyze the distribution of arrival directions of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays recorded at the Pierre Auger Observatory in 10 years of operation. The data set, about three times larger than that ...used in earlier studies, includes arrival directions with zenith angles up to 80°, thus covering from −90{sup ∘} to +45{sup ∘} in declination. After updating the fraction of events correlating with the active galactic nuclei (AGNs) in the Véron-Cetty and Véron catalog, we subject the arrival directions of the data with energies in excess of 40 EeV to different tests for anisotropy. We search for localized excess fluxes, self-clustering of event directions at angular scales up to 30°, and different threshold energies between 40 and 80 EeV. We then look for correlations of cosmic rays with celestial structures both in the Galaxy (the Galactic Center and Galactic Plane) and in the local universe (the Super-Galactic Plane). We also examine their correlation with different populations of nearby extragalactic objects: galaxies in the 2MRS catalog, AGNs detected by Swift-BAT, radio galaxies with jets, and the Centaurus A (Cen A) galaxy. None of the tests show statistically significant evidence of anisotropy. The strongest departures from isotropy (post-trial probability ∼1.4%) are obtained for cosmic rays with E>58 EeV in rather large windows around Swift AGNs closer than 130 Mpc and brighter than 10{sup 44} erg s{sup −1} (18° radius), and around the direction of Cen A (15° radius).
