In today's dynamic and competitive business landscape, innovation is paramount for companies striving to maintain a competitive edge. Among various innovation strategies, corporate green innovation ...has gained prominence as an efficient means of achieving sustainable growth. In response to the pressing need for sustainable development, this study investigates the bidirectional cointegration link between green innovation and overall corporate innovation in a panel dataset of Chinese-listed enterprises. As China emphasizes principles like "greening" and "innovation" for twenty-first-century development, this research aligns with the nation's goal of fostering sustainable industry growth through "green innovation". It employs panel cointegration tests, including the Westerlund test, dynamic panel ordinary least square (DOLS), and the panel vector error correction model (VECM), using data from Chinese A-listed firms spanning from 2008 to 2020. The study reveals a robust long-term, bidirectional relationship between corporate innovation and green innovation. Notably, it demonstrates that green innovation causally impacts corporate innovation in both the short and long term. This research also conducts subsample analysis, ensuring the robustness of the main findings across both non-polluted and polluted industries. These findings provide valuable insights into how corporate innovation factors influence corporate green innovation. Consequently, they offer valuable insights for policymakers and organizations, aiding in the formulation of policies that promote environmentally friendly innovation while elevating corporate innovation standards.

A series of polished and unpolished sp super(2)-nanostructured carbons "nanographites" obtained from the pyrolysis of various precursor types have been systematically studied by both Raman ...spectroscopy and x-ray diffraction. The ratio between the intensities of the disorder-induced D band and the first-order graphite G band (ID/IG) commonly used up to now to estimate the "crystallite" diameter La displays, in the case of polished graphitized sp super(2) carbons, clear spatial heterogeneities and can lead to the overestimation of the intrinsic structural disorder. The full width at half maximum of the G band, which is shown to be insensitive to the polishing process, exhibits a linear dependence on the mean "crystallite" diameter FWHM(G) = 14 + 430/La and therefore can be used for an accurate structural characterization of these nanographites.
This research contributes to the existing corporate governance (CG) and social and environmental accountability (SEA) literature by exploring the impact of CG mechanisms (board independence, board ...size, CEO duality, and board gender diversity) on Chinese firms’ environmental performance, sustainability performance, and environmental information disclosures (EID). Furthermore, the investigation consequently ascertains the amount to which the CG–SEA connection is influenced by CEO qualities. Using a dynamic model of a SysGMM regression model, we found that board size, independence, and gender diversity in board and CEO duality are all favorably connected to Chinese enterprises’ environmental performance over a window of 10 years (2010–2019). Additionally, our findings imply that the analyzed CEO characteristics positively moderate the relationship between CG and SEA. Our findings have significant consequences for all stakeholders, including environmentalists, corporate regulators, CEOs, policymakers, and regulators.
High entropy alloys (HEAs) are being attracted recently by several researchers, scientists, and academicians to achieve extraordinary and outstanding properties that cannot be obtained from ...conventional alloys. HEAs are multicomponent alloys in which a minimum of five metallic elements are mixed in an equal molar or non-equal molar ratio. The rapid growth of this field produces a huge amount of scientific papers over the last decade. However, still, there is a need to review various manufacturing methods and their results. Also, the outcome of the scientific articles related to HEAs has ignored the various methods of synthesizing and manufacturing. In this review article, an attempt was made and largely concentrated on the methods and techniques that can be used in the manufacturing and synthesizing of the HEAs. Recently, the properties of HEAs become much better when compared to conventional alloys. Some techniques have succeeded in producing ultrafine microstructure grains which become a leap in industrial fields. Now, the manufacturing methods of conventional alloys are almost familiar and implemented according to the suggestions given by the researchers and academicians based on their work. Therefore, the present review article has demonstrated various methods of manufacturing of HEAs with novel schematics with a preview description for more understanding of the basic work criteria. Besides, this article has reviewed the outcomes of several research articles related to several methods, then compared the outcome of each method with the corresponding mechanical properties, and major challenges of HEAs are discussed and reported.
Graphic Abstract
Abstract The aim of the present work was to evaluate and analyze the growth and mineral nutrition response of stone pine (Pinus pinea L.) seedlings, an economically important forest species. We ...analyzed the salinity effects on the kinetics of growth, development, and absorption of nutrients of plants cultivated under controlled conditions on a solid organic substrate. Pinus pinea plants were able to tolerate 25 mM NaCl concentration without reduced growth compared to the non-saline control. However, the salt concentration of 50 mM significantly affected the seedling growth after two weeks of treatment. Root growth activity was decreased more than the aerial parts at applied NaCl concentrations. On the other hand, seedlings restricted the transport of Na+ ions to the aerial parts and were strongly selective in favour of K+ ions. The presence of NaCl in the culture medium decreased the absorption rate and the export of K+ and Na+ ions to the aerial parts. This was reflected in the accumulation way of these two ions in the whole plant.
•Methanol fuel is proposed as an alternative marine fuel.•Environmental and economic analysis of dual fuel engine is carried out.•As a case study, cellular container ship is investigated.•The results ...show the environmental and the economic benefits for methanol fuel.
In this study, the use of methanol is proposed as an alternative fuel to comply with the international maritime organization (IMO) emission regulations. Environmental and economic analysis of the methanol-diesel dual fuel engine is carried out. As a case study, cellular container ship is investigated. The results show environmental benefits for reducing NOx, SOx, CO, CO2, and PM emissions by 76.78%, 89%, 55%, 18.13%, and 82.56%, respectively. In order to reduce the dual-fuel cost to the cost of the diesel fuel at maximum continuous rating (MCR), the ship speed should be reduced by 28%. In addition, the currently operated diesel engine uses selective catalytic reduction method (SCR) to comply with the IMO emission regulations. Combining the benefits of ship slow steaming and the saved SCR costs, the cost-effectiveness of dual-fuel engine for reducing NOx, CO, and CO2 emissions will be 385.2 $/ton, 6548 $/ton, and 39.9 $/ton, respectively.
Integrated capital markets provide better risk sharing and market efficiency, but presence of different barriers such as information asymmetry across borders hinders these benefits. This study ...investigates whether the adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) (uniform accounting standards) impacts the integration of worldwide capital markets by decreasing financial information frictions. Staggered adoption dates with price‐based measures (Beta and Sigma Convergence) of integration are used to measure the incremental impact of IFRS adoption on integration. The sample includes all the countries with capital markets that have benchmark indices and price data available. Overall statistical results suggest no significant impact of IFRS adoption on capital market integration.
Raman spectroscopy is experimentally widely available and relatively simple to perform at room temperature. Some difficulties nevertheless remain, as for instance separating some various ...contributions from the Raman spectrum, such as thermal emission for high temperature measurements or luminescence. Here, an optimized time‐resolved Raman spectroscopy system based on a gated detection and a nanosecond pulsed laser excitation (30 ns width, 532 nm wavelength) is described. The system allows contactless Raman measurements, at high temperatures, of some materials such as zirconia and yttria. An example of Raman spectra collected on yttria at very high temperature up to 2100 °C is provided. This optimized system may also be used to discriminate between Raman scattering and luminescence as demonstrated in zirconia material.
An optimized time‐resolved Raman spectroscopy system based on gated detection and a nanosecond pulsed laser excitation is described here. The system allows characterizing materials at high temperature by discriminating between Raman scattering and thermal emission. The optimized parameters were used to record in situ Raman data of polycrystalline c‐Y2O3 at high temperatures up to 2100 °C. In addition to high temperature, the process of photoluminescence has also been characterized by varying the couple delay time/opening (τ1/τ2) time of the ICCD.
The current study investigates whether tournament incentives motivate chief executive officer(s) (CEOs) to be socially responsible. Furthermore, it explores the role of sub-national institutional ...contingencies i.e., state-owned enterprises (SOE) vs. non-SOEs, foreign-owned entities (FOE) vs. non-FOEs, cross-listed vs. non-cross-listed, developed region in CEO tournament incentives and the corporate social responsibility performance (CSRP) relationship. Data were collected from all A-shared companies listed in the stock exchanges of China from 2014 to 2019. The study uses the baseline methodology of ordinary least squares (OLS) and cluster OLS regression. Moreover, firm-fixed effects regression, two-stage least squares regression, and propensity score matching deal with the endogeneity problem and check the robustness of the results. The results provide reliable evidence that tournament incentives motivate CEOs to be more socially responsible. On the other hand, sub-national institutional contingencies positively affect the association between CEO tournament incentives and CSRP. The findings have important implications for companies and regulators who wish to enhance CSP by providing incentives to top managers.
