The PADME experiment at the DAΦNE Beam-Test Facility (BTF) is designed to search for the gauge boson of a new U(1) interaction in the process e+e−→γ+A′, using the intense positron beam hitting a ...light target. The A′, usually referred as a dark photon, is assumed to decay into invisible particles of a secluded sector and it can be observed by searching for an anomalous peak in the spectrum of the missing mass measured in events with a single photon in the final state. The measurement requires the determination of the 4-momentum of the recoil photon, performed by a homogeneous, highly segmented BGO crystals calorimeter. A significant improvement of the missing mass resolution is possible using an active target capable of determining the average position of the positron pulse with a resolution of less than 1 mm. This report presents the performance of a real size (2 × 2 cm2) PADME active target made of a thin (50 μm) diamond sensor, with graphitic strips produced via laser irradiation on both sides. The measurements are based on data collected in a beam test at the BTF in November 2015.

ARGO-YBJ is a full coverage layer of Resistive Plate Counters (RPCs) covering an area of about
5.800
m
2
to be installed at the YangBaJing Laboratory (Tibet, China) at
4.300
m
a.s.l
. The DAQ system ...is based on a Central Station which receives the detector information from distributed readout electronics. Data from each RPC are acquired from a Receiver Card which reads out and digitizes the space and time information from 10 pick-up pads and gives out the pad multiplicity for trigger purposes. The Receiver Cards are hosted in Local Stations which Group 12 RPCs. On trigger occurrence, each Local Station sends the collected data to the Central Station. Both the detector and the electronics allow 1 ns accuracy in time measurements. In this work a detailed description of the Local Station and the Trigger System are presented.

electromagnetic processes, such as positron bremsstrahlung and
electron-positron annihilation into two photons.

Abstract
Operating since 2004, the Pierre Auger Observatory has led
to major advances in our understanding of the ultra-high-energy
cosmic rays. The latest findings have revealed new insights that ...led
to the upgrade of the Observatory, with the primary goal of
obtaining information on the primary mass of the most energetic
cosmic rays on a shower-by-shower basis. In the framework of the
upgrade, called AugerPrime, the 1660 water-Cherenkov detectors of
the surface array are equipped with plastic scintillators and radio
antennas, allowing us to enhance the composition sensitivity. To
accommodate new detectors and to increase experimental capabilities,
the electronics is also upgraded. This includes better timing with
up-to-date GPS receivers, higher sampling frequency, increased
dynamic range, and more powerful local processing of the data. In
this paper, the design characteristics of the new electronics and
the enhanced dynamic range will be described. The manufacturing and
test processes will be outlined and the test results will be
discussed. The calibration of the SD detector and various
performance parameters obtained from the analysis of the first
commissioning data will also be presented.

MACRO was an experiment that ran in the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso from 1988 to 2000. Its principal goal was to observe magnetic monopoles or set significantly lower experimental flux limits ...than had been previously available in the velocity range from about
β=10
−4 to unity. In addition it made a variety of other observations. Examples are: setting flux limits on other so far unobserved particles such as nuclearites and lightly ionizing particles, searching for WIMP annihilations in the Earth and the Sun and for neutrino bursts from stellar collapses in or near our Galaxy, and making measurements relevant to high energy muon and neutrino astronomy and of the flux of up-going muons as a function of nadir angle showing evidence for neutrino oscillations.
The apparatus consisted of three principal types of detectors: liquid scintillator counters, limited streamer tubes, and nuclear track etch detectors. In addition, over part of its area it contained a transition radiation detector. The general design philosophy emphasized redundancy and complementarity. This paper describes the technical aspects of the complete MACRO detector, its operational performance, and the techniques used to calibrate it and verify its proper operation. It supplements a previously published paper which described the first portion of the detector that was built and operated.
