It represents the first record of the species in the Netherlands since 1902. ...All records from the Netherlands and Belgium prior to 2023 are from the coastal sand dunes, but in 2023 the species was found outside its known area in both countries. Dispersal flight, facilitated by warmer climatological conditions and southern winds are suggested to have caused its expansion.

De ...dichtstbijzijnde vind-plaats bevindt zieh op 55 km afstand in België in Strijpen (Oost-Vlaanderen). Heterogaster artemisiae is zeer wijd ver-spreid in Europa, hoewel zeldzaam in het noordwesten, en werd al verwacht in Nederland.

Het betreft de ...eerste vondst van deze tropische en subtropische soort in ons land. Op basis van gegevens over de optimale ontwikkelingstemperatuur van de soort wordt vestiging in de openlucht niet aannemelijk geacht, maar vestiging in kassen zou problemen kunnen veroorzaken.
