In this investigation, high transparent nanostructured TiO2 thin film has been prepared by a dip-coating method. The prepared sol was obtained through the hydrolysis of titanium isopropoxide under ...the selected pH. The transmission of film as an optical parameter was characterized by spectrophotometer. With respect to other experimental results, a high transmission spectrum without any fluctuation in visible wavelength region has been recorded. According to transmission spectrum of film the refractive index and extinction coefficient has been determined. Experimental result has shown that the prepared film has high transmission and good optical parameters. SEM and AFM have been applied for morphology characterization of the film surface.
ABSTRACT
We introduce the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) rapid-response mode by presenting the first successful trigger on the short-duration gamma-ray burst (GRB) 181123B. Early-time radio ...observations of short GRBs may provide vital insights into the radio afterglow properties of Advanced LIGO- and Virgo-detected gravitational wave events, which will in turn inform follow-up strategies to search for counterparts within their large positional uncertainties. The ATCA was on target within 12.6 h post-burst, when the source had risen above the horizon. While no radio afterglow was detected during the 8.3 h observation, we obtained force-fitted flux densities of 7 ± 12 and $15 \pm 11\, \mu$Jy at 5.5 and 9 GHz, respectively. Afterglow modelling of GRB 181123B showed that the addition of the ATCA force-fitted radio flux densities to the Swift X-ray Telescope detections provided more stringent constraints on the fraction of thermal energy in the electrons (log $\epsilon _e = -0.75^{+0.39}_{-0.40}$ rather than log $\epsilon _e = -1.13^{+0.82}_{-1.2}$ derived without the inclusion of the ATCA values), which is consistent with the range of typical ϵe derived from GRB afterglow modelling. This allowed us to predict that the forward shock may have peaked in the radio band ∼10 d post-burst, producing detectable radio emission ≳3–4 d post-burst. Overall, we demonstrate the potential for extremely rapid radio follow-up of transients and the importance of triggered radio observations for constraining GRB blast wave properties, regardless of whether there is a detection, via the inclusion of force-fitted radio flux densities in afterglow modelling efforts.
Abstract In this study, we report the insertion sequence IS Ppu 21 in the opr D porin gene of carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates from burn patients in Tehran, Iran. Antibiotic ...susceptibility tests for P. aeruginosa isolates were determined. Production of metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs) and carbapenemase was evaluated and the β-lactamase-encoding and aminoglycoside-modifying enzyme genes were investigated by PCR and sequencing methods. The mRNA transcription level of oprD and mex efflux pump genes were evaluated by real-time PCR. The outer membrane protein profile was determined by SDS–PAGE. The genetic relationship between the P. aeruginosa isolates was assessed by random amplified polymorphic DNA PCR. In all, 10.52% (10/95) of clinical isolates of P. aeruginosa harboured the IS Ppu 21 insertion element in the opr D gene. The extended-spectrum β-lactamase-encoding gene in IS Ppu 21-carrying isolates was blaTEM . PCR assays targeting MBL and carbapenemase-encoding genes were also negative in all ten isolates. The rmt A, aad A, aad B and arm A genes were positive in all IS Ppu 21 harbouring isolates. The relative expression levels of the mex X, mex B, mex T and mex D genes in ten isolates ranged from 0.1- to 1.4-fold, 1.1- to 3.68-fold, 0.3- to 8.22-fold and 1.7- to 35.17-fold, respectively. The relative expression levels of the oprD in ten isolates ranged from 0.57- to 35.01-fold, which was much higher than those in the control strain P. aeruginosa PAO1. Evaluation of the outer membrane protein by SDS–PAGE suggested that opr D was produced at very low levels by all isolates. Using random amplified polymorphic DNA PCR genotyping, eight of the ten isolates containing IS Ppu 21 were shown to be clonally related. The present study describes a novel molecular mechanism, IS Ppu 21 insertion of the opr D gene, associated with carbapenem resistance in clinical P. aeruginosa isolates.

Tracking the motions of transient jets launched by low-mass X-ray binaries (LMXBs) is critical for determining the moment of jet ejection, and identifying any corresponding signatures in the ...accretion flow. However, these jets are often highly variable and can travel across the resolution element of an image within a single observation, violating a fundamental assumption of aperture synthesis. We present a novel approach in which we directly fit a single time-dependent model to the full set of interferometer visibilities, where we explicitly parametrize the motion and flux density variability of the emission components, to minimize the number of free parameters in the fit, while leveraging information from the full observation. This technique allows us to detect and characterize faint, fast-moving sources, for which the standard time binning technique is inadequate. We validate our technique with synthetic observations, before applying it to three Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) observations of the black hole candidate LMXB MAXI J1803−298 during its 2021 outburst. We measured the proper motion of a discrete jet component to be 1.37 ± 0.14 mas h−1, and thus we infer an ejection date of MJD $59348.08_{-0.06}^{+0.05}$, which occurs just after the peak of a radio flare observed by the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) and the Atacama Large Millimeter/Sub-Millimeter Array (ALMA), while MAXI J1803−298 was in the intermediate state. Further development of these new VLBI analysis techniques will lead to more precise measurements of jet ejection dates, which, combined with dense, simultaneous multiwavelength monitoring, will allow for clearer identification of jet ejection signatures in the accretion flow.

ABSTRACT
We observed the rapid radio brightening of GRB 210702A with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) just 11 h post-burst, tracking early-time radio variability over a 5 h period on ∼15 ...min time-scales at 9.0, 16.7, and 21.2 GHz. A broken power law fit to the 9.0 GHz light curve showed that the 5 h flare peaked at a flux density of 0.4 ± 0.1 mJy at ∼13 h post-burst. The observed temporal and spectral evolution is not expected in the standard internal–external shock model, where forward and reverse shock radio emission evolves on much longer time-scales. The early-time (<1 d) optical and X-ray light curves from the Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory demonstrated typical afterglow forward shock behaviour, allowing us to use blast wave physics to determine a likely homogeneous circumburst medium and an emitting electron population power-law index of p = 2.9 ± 0.1. We suggest that the early-time radio flare is likely due to weak interstellar scintillation (ISS), which boosted the radio afterglow emission above the ATCA sensitivity limit on minute time-scales. Using relations for ISS in the weak regime, we were able to place an upper limit on the size of the blast wave of ≲6 × 1016 cm in the plane of the sky, which is consistent with the theoretical forward shock size prediction of 8 × 1016 cm for GRB 210702A at ∼13 h post-burst. This represents the earliest ISS size constraint on a gamma-ray burst (GRB) blast wave to date, demonstrating the importance of rapid (<1 d) radio follow-up of GRBs using several-hour integrations to capture the early afterglow evolution and to track the scintillation over a broad frequency range.
Abstract
To confirm the nature of the donor star in the ultracompact X-ray binary candidate 47 Tuc X9, we obtained optical spectra (3000–10 000 Å) with the Hubble Space Telescope / Space Telescope ...Imaging Spectrograph. We find no strong emission or absorption features in the spectrum of X9. In particular, we place 3σ upper limits on the H α and He ii λ4686 emission line equivalent widths − EWH α ≲ 14 Å and $\rm -EW_{He\, \small {II}} \lesssim 9$ Å, respectively. This is much lower than seen for typical X-ray binaries at a similar X-ray luminosity (which, for $L_{\rm 2\text{--}10\,keV} \approx 10^{33}\text{--}10^{34}$ erg s−1 is typically − EWH α ∼ 50 Å). This supports our previous suggestion, by Bahramian et al., of an H-poor donor in X9. We perform timing analysis on archival far-ultraviolet, V- and I-band data to search for periodicities. In the optical bands, we recover the 7-d superorbital period initially discovered in X-rays, but we do not recover the orbital period. In the far-ultraviolet, we find evidence for a 27.2 min period (shorter than the 28.2 min period seen in X-rays). We find that either a neutron star or black hole could explain the observed properties of X9. We also perform binary evolution calculations, showing that the formation of an initial black hole/ He-star binary early in the life of a globular cluster could evolve into a present-day system such as X9 (should the compact object in this system indeed be a black hole) via mass-transfer driven by gravitational wave radiation.
The presence of olfactory dysfunction in individuals at higher risk of Alzheimer's disease has significant diagnostic and screening implications for preventive and ameliorative drug trials. Olfactory ...threshold, discrimination and identification can be reliably recorded in the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases. The current study has examined the ability of various olfactory functions in predicting cognitive decline in a community-dwelling sample. A group of 308 participants, aged 46-86 years old, were recruited for this study. After 3 years of follow-up, participants were divided into cognitively declined and non-declined groups based on their performance on a neuropsychological battery. Assessment of olfactory functions using the Sniffin' Sticks battery indicated that, contrary to previous findings, olfactory discrimination, but not olfactory identification, significantly predicted subsequent cognitive decline (odds ratio = 0.869; P<0.05; 95% confidence interval = 0.764-0.988). The current study findings confirm previously reported associations between olfactory and cognitive functions, and indicate that impairment in olfactory discrimination can predict future cognitive decline. These findings further our current understanding of the association between cognition and olfaction, and support olfactory assessment in screening those at higher risk of dementia.
We report on X-ray and radio observations of the ultra-compact X-ray binary 4U 1543−624 taken in August 2017 during an enhanced accretion episode. We obtained Neutron Star Interior Composition ...Explorer (NICER) monitoring of the source over a ∼10 day period during which target-of-opportunity observations were also conducted with Swift, INTErnational Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory (INTEGRAL), and the Australia Telescope Compact Array. Emission lines were measured in the NICER X-ray spectrum at ∼0.64 keV and ∼6.4 keV that correspond to O and Fe, respectively. By modeling these line components, we are able to track changes in the accretion disk throughout this period. The innermost accretion flow appears to move inwards from hundreds of gravitational radii (Rg = GM/c2) at the beginning of the outburst to <8.7 Rg at peak intensity. We do not detect the source in radio, but are able to place a 3 upper limit on the flux density at 27 Jy beam−1. Comparing the radio and X-ray luminosities, we find that the source lies significantly away from the range typical of black holes in the - plane, suggesting a neutron star primary. This adds to the evidence that neutron stars (NSs) do not follow a single track in the - plane, limiting its use in distinguishing between different classes of NSs based on radio and X-ray observations alone.
Two equations from the two classes of thermodynamic functions, in terms of their simplicity and complexity of functional forms, are compared, applying them in prediction of second-order derivative ...properties such as sound velocity and isobaric and isochoric properties of hydrocarbon fluids. Peng-Robinson (PR) equation of state, from the simple class, and SAFT-BACK equation from the complex family are selected for this purpose and their results are compared in both super and subcritical regions. The results reveal the superiority of the SAFT-BACK equation over the PR equation of state, especially at the liquid region or the high-density conditions. At low pressures (low densities) similar results are observed through both approaches. These results imply the inaccuracy of the cubic equations of state in prediction of second derivative properties, and moreover, suggest the prediction of sound velocity as a consistency test for any cubic equation of state.
