Rezultati raziskave so prikazani v prispevku.
Examining the data on Pavle Horvat published on the basis of scientific and profes-sional papers as well as newspaper articles shows two basic views of his work. The first in-volves the beginnings of ...his public and political activity, and concerns a young man who wished to actively participate in the then current political events in Slovenia but, for various reasons, most of all probably his approach, failed. The second view is much more intense and focuses on moments from Horvat’s life that do not show him in a positive light, but as a “bad guy” who created a false public image of himself. Based on the gathered data, it is difficult to complete both images and it is certainly necessary to conduct more research in order to answer all questions. The data gleaned from the daily press is partial, as is the data from the documents.
The second image, which can be seen from the gathered data, serves as the basis for forming the literary character of Pavle Horvat in the novel Fara sv. Ivana (The Parish of St John) by Miško Kranjec. In it, Horvat’s character is showed in a negative light, as a person who primarily fights for his personal interests under the guise of caring for Slovenians in Cro-atia. Such a literary formation may be based on documents and newspaper articles that were available to author Miško Kranjec, but could also be based on Kranjec’s subjective opinion, since it is obvious he knew Horvat personally and therefore immortalised him in his novel. Even though the character of Pavle Horvat is today almost unknown in Slovenian and Croa-tian historiography, it is precisely the literary formation of his character that prompts us to think about the less-known Slovenian-Croatian political relations in the interwar period and especially during World War II.

Autori u tekstu donose informacije o čuvanju nacionalnog identiteta Slovenaca u Zagrebu.
The problem of the expelled Slovene population from the areas occupied by the Third Reich during World War II is present in Croatian, Slovene, and Serbian history, but is primarily linked to the ...emigration and expelling of the population of other ethnicities (mostly Serbian). This phase of Slovene history is not well-known to the broader public in Croatia. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to highlight the large number of Slovenes who survived World War II on the territory of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. then the territory of the Independent State of Croatia, which had different borders than Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina today. Papers on the topic of the Slovene population displaced to Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina often do not consider the cultural shock that the displaced persons suffered. Apart from describing the activities of the institutions that were legal and responsible for providing for the expelled Slovene population, this paper also presents individual cases that exemplify the difficult situation and problems faced by those expelled from Slovene lands.
Slovenian priests have an important role in Croatian history; their influence can primarily be observed in the border areas of todayʼs Slovenian and Croatian border. If we look at the history of ...Liburnia, and, on a broader scale, of Kvarner and Croatian Istria, it can be observed that they were present in these areas for centuries, and that their work was mainly based on improving the spiritual and material life of their congregation and parishes in which they worked. The aim of this paper is to record individuals originating from Slovenian areas who worked in Croatian areas, and to present their work in the parishes of the coastal area of Liburnia. So far only some aspects of the topic have been observed, and there are no articles that present a large number of individuals that worked in the observed geographical area. This paper is based on the available scientific and professional literature, as well as on the secondary printed sources.
Granica je uvelike poremetila odnose Hrvata i Slovenaca s obiju strana, a ti odnosi do danas, usprkos ulasku Hrvatske i Slovenije u Europsku uniju, nisu vraćeni u nekadašnje okvire. Na temelju matičnih knjiga umrlih i vjenčanih župa Stojdraga, Kalje, Mrzlo Polje i Sošice autor donosi podatke o intenzitetu kontakata Hrvata i Slovenaca u pograničnoj zoni Žumberka.
The article offers an analysis of the status of the members of the Slovene community in Croatia with special focus on their participation in public political life. Their inclusion into public ...political life is highly important for the status of the minority. Slovenes in Croatia are well known to be apolitical, refusing to publicly identify themselves as members of the Slovene minority. Their lack of activity in politics contributes to their less favourable status, manifested above all in the acquisition of certain rights.
The role of clergy in the region of Istria has been very important throughout history, especially in the preservation of Slovenian and Croatian language in the Julian March area in the period between ...the two world wars. Although the role of the priest was important, this topic remains relatively unexplored, especially when it comes to Slovene priests who worked in the area of Croatian Istria; some of them are still rather unknown to the general public. That is why, among other issues, this paper deals with the position of Slovene priests in the area of Croatian Istria, with particular emphasis on the work and activities of Leopold Jurca. In addition, Josip Grašič and Stjepan (Štefan) Cek are also mentioned. Leopold Jurca is one of the most important historical figures, who worked in the area of Croatian Istria in the period between the two world wars. His activity is described in the book My Years in Istria under Fascism (Moja leta v Istri pod fašizmom, 1978), and although he has left an autobiographical work behind, it has not been fully valorized among the men of faith. Through his work, Leopold Jurca makes the effort to preserve the Croatian language and cultural heritage. He was quite popular among the parishioners of the Trviž parish between 1929 and 1945 and has left a powerful legacy.
