Objective
To systematically review the effects of physical therapy given by telerehabilitation on pain and disability in individuals with shoulder pain.
Data sources
PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, LILACS, ...Cochrane, Web of Science, SCOPUS, SciELO and Ibecs were searched in January/2022.
Methods
This systematic review followed PRISMA guidelines. Randomized controlled trials investigating the effects of physical therapy given by telerehabilitation on pain and disability in patients with shoulder pain were included. The quality and level of the evidence were assessed with the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool and GRADE, respectively. The effect sizes of the main outcomes were also calculated.
Results
Six randomized controlled trials were included with a total sample of 368 patients with shoulder pain. Four and two randomized controlled trials were assessed as low and high risk of bias, respectively. Three randomized controlled trials assessed shoulder post-operative care, two assessed chronic shoulder pain, and one assessed frozen shoulder. Very low to low evidence suggests that there is no difference between telerehabilitation and in-person physical therapy or home-based exercises programs to improve pain and disability in patients with shoulder pain. Low evidence suggests that telerehabilitation is superior to advice only to improve shoulder pain (effect size: 2.42; 95% Confidence Interval: 1.72, 3.06) and disability (effect size: 1.61; 95% Confidence Interval: 1.01, 2.18).
Conclusions
Although telerehabilitation may be a promising tool to treat patients with shoulder pain and disability, the very low to low quality of evidence does not support a definite recommendation of its use in this population.

The aim of this study was to determine predictive factors related to the Scapular Assistance Test in individuals with shoulder pain during arm elevation, and to analyze how these predictors interact ...in a nonlinear manner to discriminate the result of a positive and negative Scapular Assistance Test. Eighty-four individuals with shoulder pain with positive (n = 47, average age 38.4 years) and negative (n = 37, average age 37.8 years) Scapular Assistance Test completed the study. Demographic data, affected shoulder, pain duration, pain at rest, angular onset of pain, scapular dyskinesis, serratus anterior and lower trapezius muscle strength, Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand questionnaire and Pain Catastrophizing Scale were assessed in all participants. The Classification and Regression Tree analysis was used to determine which factors would predict the occurrence of a positive or negative Scapular Assistance Test and possible interactions among them. The resulting tree presented seven levels that combine the following variables: angular onset of pain, presence of scapular dyskinesis, pain catastrophizing, serratus anterior and lower trapezius muscle strength. The angular onset of pain during arm elevation was the main predictor of a positive Scapular Assistance Test selected by the Classification and Regression Tree. This study indicates that the Scapular Assistance Test result may be explained not only by biomechanical variables, but also by psychological factors. Disability of the upper limbs does not seem to contribute to the Scapular Assistance Test result.

Objective:
To systematically review the effectiveness of electromyographic biofeedback interventions to improve pain and function of patients with shoulder pain.
Design:
Systematic review of ...controlled clinical trials.
Literature search:
Databases (Medline, EMBASE, CINAHL, PEDro, CENTRAL, Web of Science, and SCOPUS) were searched in December 2020.
Study selection criteria:
Randomized clinical trials that investigated the effects of electromyographic biofeedback for individuals with shoulder pain. Patient-reported pain and functional outcomes were collected and synthesized.
Data synthesis:
The level of evidence was synthesized using GRADE and Standardized Mean Differences and 95% confidence interval were calculated using a random-effects inverse variance model for meta-analysis.
Results:
Five studies were included with a total sample of 272 individuals with shoulder pain. Very-low quality of evidence indicated that electromyographic biofeedback was not superior to control for reducing shoulder pain (standardized mean differences = −0.21, 95% confidence interval: −0.67 to 0.24, P = 0.36). Very-low quality of evidence indicated that electromyographic biofeedback interventions were not superior to control for improving shoulder function (standardized mean differences = −0.11, 95% confidence interval: −0.41 to 0.19, P = 0.48).
Conclusion:
Electromyographic biofeedback may be not effective for improving shoulder pain and function. However, the limited number of included studies and very low quality of evidence does not support a definitive recommendation about the effectiveness of electromyographic biofeedback to treat individuals with shoulder pain.
Large pelagic predators occupy high positions in food webs and could control lower trophic level species by direct and indirect ecological interactions. In this study we aimed to test the hypotheses: ...(1) pelagic predators are keystone species, and their removals could trigger impacts on the food chain; (2) higher landings of pelagic predators could trigger fishing impacts with time leading to a drop in the mean trophic level of catches; and (3) recovery in the pelagic predators populations, especially for sharks, could be achieved with fishing effort reduction. We performed a food web approach using an Ecopath with Ecosim model to represent the Southeastern and Southern Brazil, a subtropical marine ecosystem, in 2001. We then calibrated the baseline model using catch and fishing effort time series from 2001 to 2012. Afterwards, we simulated the impact of fishing effort changes on species and assessed the ecological impacts on the pelagic community from 2012 to 2025. Results showed that the model was well fitted to landing data for the majority of groups. The pelagic predators species were classified as keystone species impacting mainly on pelagic community. The ecosystem was resilient and fisheries seem sustainable at that time. However, the temporal simulation, from 2001 to 2012, revealed declines in the biomass of three sharks, tuna and billfish groups. It was possible observe declines in the mean trophic level of the catch and in the mean total length of landings. Longline fisheries particularly affected the sharks, billfish and swordfish, while hammerhead sharks were mostly impacted by gillnet fishery. Model simulations showed that large sharks’ biomasses could be recovered or maintained only after strong fishing effort reduction.

This paper aims at establishing a dialogue between philosophy and psychology about the conditions and the process through which humans build epistemic relationships during ontogenetic development. By ...the latter term, we mean any form of interaction which is aimed at producing a belief about some relevant aspects of the world, present or absent, past or future and at assessing its degree of epistemic trustworthiness. The paper is built as a dialogue between a philosopher and a psychologist, who present different faces of the problem of epistemic legitimation respectively and discuss the possible ways in which the dialogue can lead to theoretical advancement in understanding the development of the human epistemic subject. The chapter is divided into four sections: in the first section, we outline how we develop ontogenetically as epistemic subjects, and the sense that our epistemic life depends on other people’s words or testimony; in the second section, we deal with the notion of epistemic injustice and epistemic silencing; in the third section, we discuss strategies to counter epistemic silencing and; in the fourth part, we try to elaborate a synthesis and suggest a new beginning.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is commonly used to diagnose structural abnormalities in the shoulder. However, subsequent findings may not be the source of symptoms. The aim of this study was to ...determine comparative MRI findings across both shoulders of individuals with unilateral shoulder symptoms.
We prospectively evaluated 123 individuals from the community who had self-reported unilateral shoulder pain with no signs of adhesive capsulitis, no substantial range-of-motion deficit, no history of upper-limb fractures, no repeated shoulder dislocations, and no neck-related pain. Images in the coronal, sagittal, and axial planes with T1, T2, and proton density sequences were generated and independently and randomly interpreted by 2 examiners: a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic shoulder surgeon and a musculoskeletal radiologist. Absolute and relative frequencies for each MRI finding were calculated and compared between symptomatic and asymptomatic shoulders. Agreement between the shoulder surgeon and the radiologist was also determined.
Abnormal MRI findings were highly prevalent in both shoulders. Only the frequencies of full-thickness tears in the supraspinatus tendon and glenohumeral osteoarthritis were higher (approximately 10%) in the symptomatic shoulder according to the surgeon's findings. Agreement between the musculoskeletal radiologist and shoulder surgeon ranged from slight to moderate (0.00-0.51).
Most abnormal MRI findings were not different in frequency between symptomatic and asymptomatic shoulders. Clinicians should be aware of the common anatomic findings on MRI when considering diagnostic and treatment planning.

In this paper we present a new class of mechanisms called Multiloop Origami Inspired Spherical Mechanisms (MOISM). When new origami-inspired mechanisms are created, usually the designers employ well known origami structures. This method has limitations on the existing origami structures. By enumerating spherical mechanisms using graph and group theories, we can find other structures that comply with the flat-foldable origami theorems. Therefore, we can create new origami-inspired mechanisms that have fewer limitations than their counterparts. First, we compare origami mechanisms to spherical mechanisms, discussing mobility and the order of the screw system to which all joints belong. We then list some mathematical theorems in the design of flat-foldable origamis, which we then use to enumerate origami-inspired spherical mechanisms. Next, we present an atlas of kinematic chains that comply with the flat-foldable origami theorems, comparing them to the origami theorems discussed. Finally, an application of an origami inspired mechanism as a spherical wrist is presented at the end.
Decellularized scaffolds applied in tissue engineering offer improvements, supplying the elevated necessity for organs and tissues for replacement. However, obtaining a functional trachea for ...autotransplantation or allotransplantation is tricky due to the organ anatomical and structural complexity. Most tracheal decellularization protocols are lengthy, expensive, and could damage the tracheal extracellular matrix (ECM) architecture and functionality. Here, we aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of 3 different decellularization protocols combined with chemical and physical methods to obtain acellular canine tracheal scaffolds. Six adult dog tracheas were incised (tracheal segments) resulting in 28 rings for control tissue and 84 rings for decellularization (5-7 mm thick). Subsequently, decellularized tracheal scaffolds were microscopically/macroscopically characterized by histological analysis (Hematoxylin-Eosin, Masson's trichrome, Picrosirius red, Alcian blue, and Safranin O), immunohistochemistry for ECM components, scanning electron microscopy, and genomic DNA quantification. After decellularization, the tracheal tissue revealed reduced genomic DNA, and maintenance of ECM components preserved (structural proteins, adhesive glycoproteins, glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans), suggesting ECM integrity and functionality. Comparatively, the combined ionic detergent with high vacuum pressure decellularization protocol revealed superior genomic DNA decrease (13.5 ng/mg) and improvement on glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans preservation regarding the other decellularized trachea scaffolds and native tissue. Our results indicate that the 3 chemical/physical protocols reduce the decellularization time without ECM proteins damage. Notwithstanding, the use of ionic detergent under vacuum pressure was able to generate an innovative strategy to obtain acellular canine tracheal scaffolds with the highest levels of adhesive proteins that support its potentiality for recellularization and future tissue engineering application.
