The 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine derived Schiff bases (E)-1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)-2-(n-nitrobenzylidene)hydrazine (where, n = 2, L1; n = 3, L2 and n = 4, L3) were synthesized and characterized by FTIR, ...1H NMR and mass spectra. The interaction of the ligands (L1-L3) with the protein BSA was investigated by fluorescence spectroscopy and molecular docking methods. The fluorescence titration experiments of BSA resulted in fluorescence quenching with the incremental addition of the ligands (L1-L3). The fluorescence quenching is static in nature, and the estimated Stern-Volmer constants of the ligands with BSA followed the order of L1 ≈ L3 > L2. The modes of binding of the ligands with BSA were explored by molecular docking analysis. In addition, the cytotoxicity of the ligands was examined in live HeLa and HT-29 cells. The IC50 values were found in the range 13 μM–243 μM.

Fabric compression is a decrease in intrinsic thickness with an appropriate increase in pressure. The compressibility of the terry fabric depends on fibre properties, yarn parameters, weaving ...parameters, loop length, loop density, loop geometry and post-weaving treatments. In this research, all the factors responsible for fabric compression have been studied. It is observed that loop density, loop length, loop-shape factor, pile yarn twist, pile yarn count, fibre length and pile yarn structure have a significant effect on the compression behaviour of the terry fabric. With increase in the loop-shape factor, loop length and loop density, the linearity of compression curve, resilience increases and specific compression energy reduces which depict that the fabric is getting better in terms of softness to touch. It is also observed that pile yarns produced from ring spinning, zero twist, MCU-5 cotton, porous yarn and finer yarn produce better terry fabric in terms of compression behaviour and surface properties. The loop geometry modelled in the form of shape factor correlates with the compression of the fabric. The research also helps to design a towel by controlling loop geometry.
Malignancy of the nose and paranasal sinuses is a highly heterogeneous tumor group that arises from various cell types commonly seen in the fifth to sixth decades of life, with twice as much ...commonness in males. Patients present with varied clinical presentations like nasal obstruction, facial swelling, orbital complications, etc. Squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma are the most common variant. Surgery followed by adjuvant chemo or radiotherapy is the treatment of choice.
The study was undertaken in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal, India, from 2021 to 2023. It was a retrospective study in which patients diagnosed and underwent treatment in the last 2 years were enrolled. Data were retrieved from the medical record department and surgical registry. Twenty-eight patients were recruited for the study. Detailed history, clinical examination, imaging findings, surgical plans, postoperative adjuvant therapy details, and histopathological findings were recorded.
There were 18 (64.2%) males and 10 (35.8%) females, with a male-to-female ratio of 1.8: 1. The mean age of patients was 50.5 years. Facial swelling was the most frequent symptom (n=15, 54%). Twenty-one (75%) patients use chewable tobacco, while sixteen (57%) are smokers. All our patients belong to the lower socioeconomic group. Endoscopic resection was done in 15 (62.5%) patients, and combined open and endoscopic approaches were used in 9 (37.5%) patients. The most common histological variant was squamous cell carcinoma (n=8, 28%).
Malignancy of the nose and paranasal sinus is very rare. They presented with varied masked clinical presentations of benign diseases. Early identification and high clinical suspicion, along with imaging studies, are pivotal in managing malignancy of the nose and paranasal sinuses.
The study of the strength and behavior of the antikaon-nucleon (Kover ¯N) interaction constitutes one of the key focuses of the strangeness sector in low-energy quantum chromodynamics (QCD). In this ...Letter a unique high-precision measurement of the strong interaction between kaons and protons, close and above the kinematic threshold, is presented. The femtoscopic measurements of the correlation function at low pair-frame relative momentum of (K^{+}p⊕K^{-}pover ¯) and (K^{-}p⊕K^{+}pover ¯) pairs measured in pp collisions at sqrts=5, 7, and 13 TeV are reported. A structure observed around a relative momentum of 58 MeV/c in the measured correlation function of (K^{-}p⊕K^{+}pover ¯) with a significance of 4.4σ constitutes the first experimental evidence for the opening of the (Kover ¯^{0}n⊕K^{0}nover ¯) isospin breaking channel due to the mass difference between charged and neutral kaons. The measured correlation functions have been compared to Jülich and Kyoto models in addition to the Coulomb potential. The high-precision data at low relative momenta presented in this work prove femtoscopy to be a powerful complementary tool to scattering experiments and provide new constraints above the Kover ¯N threshold for low-energy QCD chiral models.
A survey was conducted for assessment of soil fertility status, leaf nutrient concentration and finding yield-limiting nutrients of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) plantations in Mizoram state ...situated in the northeastern part of India. Soil pH, electrical conductivity (EC), organic carbon (OC), available potassium (K), available phosphorus (P) (Bray's-P), exchangeable calcium (Ca) (Exch. Ca) and magnesium (Mg) (Exch. Mg), available sulfur (S) (CaCl

-S), and hot-water-soluble boron (B) (HWB) content in surface (0-20 cm depth) and subsurface (20-40 cm depth) soil layers varied widely. Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (DRIS) norms were established for different nutrient expressions, and DRIS indices were computed. As per DRIS indices, the order of requirement of nutrients was found to be B > K > Mg > P > nitrogen (N). Optimum leaf nutrient ranges as per DRIS norms varied from 1.91% to 2.95%, 0.46% to 0.65%, 0.63% to 1.00%, 0.48% to 0.88%, and 9.41 to 31.0 mg kg

for N, P, K, Mg, and B, respectively. On the basis of DRIS-derived optimum ranges, 32%, 9%, 27%, 12%, and 12% leaf samples had less than optimum concentration of N, P, K, Mg, and B, respectively. The optimum ranges developed could be used as a guide for routine diagnostic and advisory purpose for efficient fertilizer application.
The damage caused by high temperature is one of the most important abiotic stress affecting rice production. Reproductive stage of rice is highly susceptible to high temperature. The present ...investigation was undertaken to identify polymorphic microsatellite markers (SSR) associated with heat tolerance. The rice cultivars NERICA- L 44 (heat tolerant) and Uma (heat susceptible) were crossed to generate F
and F
populations. The F
population was subjected to heat stress at >38°C and the 144 F
plants were evaluated for their tolerance. The results note that the mean of the F
population was influenced by the tolerant parent with regards to the traits of plant height, membrane stability index, photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, evapotranspiration rate, pollen viability, spikelet fertility and 1000 grain weight. Ten each of the extremely susceptible and tolerant plants were selected based on the spikelet fertility percentage. Their DNA was pooled into tolerant and susceptible bulks and Bulked Segregant Analysis (BSA) was carried out using 100 SSR markers to check for polymorphism. The survey revealed a polymorphism of 18% between the parents. RM337, RM10793, RM242, RM5749, RM6100, RM490, RM470, RM473, RM222 and RM556 are some of the prominent markers that were found to be polymorphic between the parents and the bulks. We performed gene annotation and enrichment analysis of identified polymorphic markers. Result revealed that the sequence specific site of that chromosome mostly enriched with biological processes like metabolic pathway, molecular mechanism, and subcellular function. Among that RM337 was newly reported marker for heat tolerance. Expression analysis of two genes corresponds to RM337 revealed that
(LOC_Os08g01330) was linked to high temperature tolerance in rice. The results demonstrate that BSA using SSR markers is useful in identifying genomic regions that contribute to thermotolerance.
Molecular doping on graphene, through noncovalent functionalization offers a great opportunity to tune charge density on graphene for catalytic applications. Although enhanced oxygen reduction ...activity has been reported in heteroatom doped graphene, the synergistic advantage of molecular and heteroatom co-doping has not yet been studied. Here, we report the remarkably enhanced catalytic activity of benzoate or 1-pyrenebutyrate functionalized N-doped graphene (BA-NrGO/PB-NrGO) towards the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in alkaline medium. An efficient 4e(-) reduction process with a more positive onset potential (Eonset = 0.85 V vs. RHE) and high ORR activity (Jk = 3.16 mA cm(-2) at 0.65 V) has been observed in BA-NrGO. DFT studies show that the stimulated ORR activity is due to functionalisation induced increased charge density on active sites.
A grain growth study on polycrystalline 180wt.ppm Zr-doped Al2O3 has revealed a discontinuous increase in grain boundary mobility. The mobility increases by over an order of magnitude within a narrow ...temperature window between 1550 and 1650°C. The discontinuity is attributed to a grain boundary complexion transition that occurs at about 1600°C. This grain boundary complexion transition has important implications for creep and oxidation protection, and technological issues such as scale growth in high-temperature alloys.
