Background
Google Trends (GTs) is a web‐based surveillance tool that explores the searching trends of specific queries via Google. This tool proposes to reflect the real‐life epidemiology of allergic ...rhinitis and asthma. However, the validation of GTs against pollen concentrations is missing at the country level.
Objectives
In the present study, we used GTs (a) to compare the terms related to allergy in France, (b) to assess seasonal variations across the country for 5 years and (c) to compare GTs and pollen concentrations for 2016.
Methods
Google Trends queries were initially searched to investigate the terms reflecting pollen and allergic diseases. 13‐ and 5‐year GTs were used in France. Then, 5‐year GTs were assessed in all metropolitan French regions to assess the seasonality of GTs. Finally, GTs were compared with pollen concentrations (Réseau National de Surveillance en Aerobiology) for 2016 in seven regions (GTs) and corresponding cities (pollen concentrations).
Results
The combination of searches for “allergy” as a disease, “pollen” as a disease cause and “ragweed” as a plant was needed to fully assess the pollen season in France. “Asthma” did not show any seasonality. Using the 5‐year GTs, an annual and clear seasonality of queries was found in all regions depending on the predicted pollen exposure for spring and a summer peak but not for winter peaks. The agreement between GT queries and pollen concentrations is usually poor except for spring trees and grasses. Moreover, cypress pollens are insufficiently reported by GTs.
Conclusions
Google Trends cannot predict the pollen season in France.

Ancré dans un projet de phénoménologie pratique, cet article propose une description en première personne d’un moment vécu en introspection sensorielle, moment caractérisé par une grande qualité de ...présence et par l’émergence d’un saut attentionnel qualitatif remarquable. L’introspection sensorielle est une pratique méditative tournée vers les manifestations du vivant se déroulant en temps réel dans l’intériorité du corps, qui crée des conditions pour percevoir un ensemble de phénomènes internes habituellement cachés à la conscience. Ces phénomènes étant prioritairement corporels, leur description met en lumière des facettes de la dynamique attentionnelle non spontanément décrites si l’on pense cette dernière prioritairement comme un processus cognitif. Outre les aspects significatifs de cette expérience en termes de dynamique de présence et d’attention, l’article souligne la rigueur épistémologique et méthodologique qu’impose une recherche en première personne.
Within my Body Comes to Light without Words that Something is Coming to Pass… First-person Approach of a Moment of Vigilance Lived in a Sensorial Introspection. This article is rooted in a practical phenomenology project and presents a first-person description of a specific moment experienced in a sensorial introspection. This moment was marked by a high quality of presence and the emergence of a leap in attention of a remarkable quality. Sensorial introspection is a meditative practice that focuses on the manifestations of a living principle unfolding in real time within the body and creates conditions to perceive inner phenomena usually hidden from awareness. These phenomena are mainly corporeal, and describing them brings to light aspects of the dynamics of attention that are not spontaneously described when attention is seen primarily as a cognitive process. In addition to the significant aspects of this experience in terms of the dynamics of presence and attention, this article highlights the epistemological and methodological rigour that is required of first-person research.

A group of 13 pathologists belonging to the French Calcitonin Tumor Study Group (GETC: Groupe d'Etude des Tumeurs a Calcitonine) examined the histological slides and medical records of 109 proband ...cases of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) diagnosed on clinical features. The cases belonged to the various forms of the disease (80 sporadic and 29 familial MTC). The aim of the study was to detect histological predictors for survival by comparing morphological data from patients killed by the disease versus the others. Twenty-seven histological parameters were considered, including cellular heterogeneity, shape of the cells, and cytoplasmic characteristics. Other parameters such as sex, age, and phenotype of the disease were also studied. First, predictive parameters of interest on survival function were selected by univariate analysis (Mantel-Cox test). Then, the extracted parameters were tested in a multifactorial analysis using the Cox's forward stepping proportional hazard model. Five parameters were significantly associated with a lower survival function: presence of necrosis in the tumor (P = .001), squamous pattern (P = .002), age over 45 years (P = .004), presence of oxyphil cells in the tumor and absence of cells with intermediate cytoplasm (P = .025), less than 50% of calcitonin immunoreactive cells in the tumor (P = .04).

Au moyen d'une expérimentation inter-sujets sur 243 individus portant sur une catégorie de produits, cette recherche montre que les applications de recommandation nutritionnelle ont un fonctionnement proche des labels, tout en étant plus efficaces sur l'intention d'achat. L'effet d'autres facteurs comme la notoriété de la marque ou l'aversion au risque des consommateurs est également mesuré et discuté.
