common, basic motif, the two texts written in the period of the Croatian Modernism, the prose work Under the Venus of the Capitol written in 1898 by Ksaver Šandor Gjalski, and the one-act comedy ...Venus Victrix written by Milan Begović in 1905, are seen as a mnemotechnical art that shapes the memory space, and evokes memories of the Antique culture in the spirit of fin de siècle and Modernism.
Beside the fact that these two texts record the memory of cultures of the ancient times, they also turn their heritage into a model for stylization of the past. However, their stylized representation of historical worlds and the poetics of artificial worlds do not testify to the past, but rather to the relation between art and life as the central aesthetic problem of Modernism, the one from which problems of aestheticism and vitalism, sensualism, decadence, the dialectics of failure and new creation derive.
trilogiji. Utvrdili smo da tragedija Damjan Juda kao dramski tekst moderne potvrđuje ideologeme umjetnosti svojega vremena, usvojenost poetike umjetnih svjetova sa stiliziranom prošlošću radi konfrontacije sa suvremenošću i njezinim nesređenim
realitetom.
Interpretativna se pozornost usmjerava na prostor u stihovanom djelu Kolo gorah iliti pozdrav veseli prastaromu i veleslavnomu od Požege gradu i velenarodnim njegovim vilam pjesnika franjevca Ota ...Šijakovića (Ilok, 1823. – Bač, 1878.), napisanom i izvedenom 1851. u Požegi, a tiskom objavljenom 1862. u Zagrebu.
S uporištem u teorijama nacije i nacionalizma Benedicta Andersona, Erica Hobsbawma i Anthonya D. Smitha, uloga promatrana djela u oblikovanju nacionalnoga identiteta analizirana je kroz osnovna tematska područja: kolektivna prošlost, sadašnjost i budućnost, zajednički prostor, zajednička kultura i nacionalni čovjek.
This paper illuminates the literary beginnings of Ante Benešić (1864-1916) from the point of view of literary history and connected with his active participation in »Javor«, the schoolchildren’s ...literary society from 1878 to 1883 in Osijek, where he went to high school, and subsequently, from 1883, in the Croatian Academy Association called »Zvonimir«, in Vienna, where he was studying law. He published his work in Vijenac from 1888 to 1890. The poem Sunce/Sun can be considered his first poem, and it was written in 1880 and read in public in »Javor« in 1882, and then published, with a few more poems, in the almanac Zvonimir in 1886. Of particular interest here is the poem Little girl because it was put to music in 1887 by Ivan pl. Zajc. Along with it, the idyll Shepherd and Goose-girl was also read publicly in »Zvonimir« in 1883, heralding the development that was to move in the direction of the poetic idyll.
The beginnings of his dramatic work are marked by the writing of burlesque with no great artistic pretensions (for example Room no 13, a farce in one act, performed on May 2, 1901, in Zagreb) but meeting with considerable success, because of which as early as 1905 the position of Ante Benešić was immortalised among the leading dramatic writers and theatre people of the time in the memorial picture of the Celebration of Croatian Theatrical Art or Before the Doors of the Croatian Thalia Ivan Tišov.
The position of minor writers in the Croatian literary historiography is being considered through postmodern prism and literary historical optics. Answers to the question set in the title are not ...comprehensive, but derive from author’s reflection and wondering as to why the minor writers remained neglected, forgotten and passed over in silence in the literary historiography and critical practice, and from the fact that the modern literary profession has become increasingly interested in
themT. he author primarily finds assistance and scientific fulcrum for highlighting the issue of minor writers’ position in the literary historiography — in scientific works by Dubravka Oraić Tolić and Burghart Schmidt, also relying on concrete and individual examples by writers from Slavonia and capital literary historical works created in the 20th and at the beginning of 21st century.
