The test data on confined air throw ranges in dead ends are reviewed. It is found that the research findings differ greatly and disable the single-value determination of the allowable lag between the ...air duct and heading face at the acceptable accuracy. It is supposed that the discrepancy of the testing data is ensues from the empirical concept of independency of the confined dead-end air throw range from the initial air flow velocity, which is strictly unproved. The supposition is backed with the numerical modeling data on blind roadway ventilation with visualization of air flow shortage at air velocities not less than 0.25 m/s. At the increased capacity of air fan and with the enhanced initial air flow velocity from 5 to 80 m/s, the air throw grows to 56 m. The authors come to a conclusion that the efficient and resource-saving approach to blind roadway ventilation is the increased air supply in air ducts, which makes it possible to extend the distance between the air duct and the face toward safe blasting.
VEPP-4 is a multipurpose storage ring facility at Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (Novosibirsk, Russia) with several research programs including high energy physics in colliding beam mode, ...nuclear physics, synchrotron radiation, accelerator physics study, etc. The paper discusses VEPP-4 activities relating to generation and application of synchrotron radiation not only for SR user community but for beam diagnostics in storage ring as well.
We present experimental results for T20 component of the tensor analyzing power for incoherent π− photoproduction on a deuteron. The experiment was performed on an internal tensor-polarized gas ...deuterium target of the VEPP-3 electron storage ring in 2021 using the proton-proton coincidence method. The data are compared with the results of numerical simulation.
Artificial freezing ensures the formation of a temporary ice wall around the shaft under construction, which prevents groundwater penetration into the shaft and increases the strength of rocks around ...the unsupported walls of the shaft until the permanent support is erected. The purpose of the study is to carry out thermotechnical calculation of ice wall with subsequent theoretical analysis of changing ice wall thickness with shifting to the passive freezing stage. The idea of the study is to determine these technological parameters based on the condition of maintaining the design ice wall thickness at the stage of passive freezing. The methodology and results of thermotechnical calculation of ice wall for the clay layer as applied to the case of the shafts under construction of a potash mine in the Republic of Belarus are presented. The thermal calculation of the ice wall was carried out numerically in the ANSYS software package using the finite element method. The findings of the numerical multiparameter modeling allowed theoretical analysis of ice wall thickness decrease with shifting to the passive freezing stage with higher brine temperature. The decrease in ice wall thickness was studied both during normal operation of the freezing station and at emergency operation mode caused by the failure of one of the freezing columns. Special attention in the analysis was paid to studying the influence of the duration of the active freezing stage and the distance between the columns on the decrease in the ice wall thickness. When analyzing changes in ice wall thickness at different distances between the freezing columns, it was found that the most common column spacing in the range from 1.1 to 1.3 m requires observing restrictions on the duration of active freezing to prevent a critical decrease in ice wall thickness during the passive freezing stage or decreasing the distance between the freezing columns. In this case, preservation of positive dynamics of ice wall thickness growth is ensured. For the clay layer considered in the study and the distance between the columns from 1.1 to 1.3 m, the minimum time of active freezing is also about 4.3 months. As a result of the analysis, the technological parameters of the freezing system (duration of the active freezing stage and the distance between the freezing columns) were determined, at which the ice wall thickness at the passive freezing stage did not become lower than the minimum permissible values calculated based on the strength and creep conditions.

A new international study has just been launched to design a hadron collider with a centre-of-mass energy of the order of 100 TeV in a new 80–100 km tunnel as a long-term goal. The design study ...includes a 90–350 GeV lepton collider, seen as a potential intermediate step, and an ep option. This paper reports on the overall parameters and preliminary optics designs with special emphasis on the Interaction Regions and the constraints arising for having to host both the lepton and the hadron colliders. Preliminary hardware specifications, as magnetic field, gradient, lengths and aperture are also presented.

for the coherent neutral pion photoproduction on the deuteron. The measurements were performed at ...the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics at VEPP-3 storage ring using the internal tensor polarized deuterium target. The measurements cover the region of photon energy from 200 to 450 MeV and the region of the center-of-mass pion polar angle from 100 to 140 degrees. The results obtained are compared with predictions of several theoretical models.
This work presents a scheme for the manufacture of spherical grinding bodies used in grinding and crushing machinery as a grinding medium from abrasion-resistant cast iron CHKH16 (according to GOST ...7769-82) free of shrinkage defects produced by casting into single sand molds with a vertical joint and by usingcoolers. The grinding efficiency in terms of material destruction and energy consumption has been studied according to a wide range of operating parameters and new scheme for calculating the sprue and supply system has been developed by the authors of the article. Its functionality has been substantiated, particularly the use of a central riser acting as a head and the use of coolers. The conducted numerical simulation has shown the dependence of a solid phase formation over time, which characterizes the direction of the system crystallization and determines the locations of the shrinkage defects concentration. The manufacture of the grinding body with a 100 mm diameter using the considered technology is presented in this paper.
