A new source of an electron beam with laser heating of the cathode is presented. The general description, the main parameters and the arrangement of the electron beam source are given. The cathode ...assembly and its operation features are described, which consist in controlling the emission current from the cathode by changing the cathode temperature by controlling the laser heating power. With this method, due to the heat capacity of the cathode and the parts nearby, the time to reach the set current level of the source from the moment the laser power is applied is several seconds. A method is proposed to reduce this time to fractions of a second by forcing the heating power at the beginning of turning on the heating and introducing preheating, and it is also proposed to stabilize the source current by introducing feedback of the heating power control signal with the current signal of the high-voltage source of the electron gun.
The source current control range is discussed.

The VEPP-5 injection complex is a source of intense electron and positron beams that supplies the VEPP-4M and VEPP-2000 accelerator complexes through the K-500 transport channel. At present, the ...injection complex is in regular operation. Work is being carried out to improve the performance and stability of the facility, and possible ways of working with perspective beam users are being considered. This article presents a description of the injection complex and the experience of its operation, as well as the latest improvements being considered.
The VEPP-5 injection complex (IC) supplies BINP colliders with electron and positron beams. The IC control system software controls the technological processes and data transmission to beam users. ...This paper describes the structure and the operation principles of the IC automatic software.
The VEPP-5 Injection complex provides BINP colliders with electron and positron beams. In order to supply the beams in a continuous mode, the control system infrastructure needs to be highly ...available. It is proposed to implement this infrastructure using modern virtualization technologies. The design and implementation of the VEPP-5 injection complex control system infrastructure is described.
The control system of the 5045 klystron modulator that is used in the VEPP-5 injection complex of the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics (BINP, Novosibirsk) is described. The system is constructed ...on the basis of a built-in CompactRIO chassis (National Instruments) with a set of modules. Some of these modules are being developed at the BINP. The chassis with an auxiliary computer and a standby power supply is assembled in a 19'' frame with a height of 3U. The software for the modulator control, protection, and monitoring was developed in the LabVIEW environment. The system is integrated into the general control system of the injection complex on the basis of EPICS. A support of the CX server that was developed at the BINP was used at the chassis-controller level.

Since 2016, the VEPP-5 injection complex has been supplying the VEPP-4M and the VEPP-2000 colliders with electrons and positrons through the K-500 transport channel. By now the injection complex has ...demonstrated the capability to support the routine operation of both colliders. Nevertheless, work is actively continuing to improve the stability and efficiency of the facility. In this paper, a description of the injection complex, its operation experience, and prospects are presented.

The LIA-2 linear induction accelerator has been designed in the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics as an electron-beam injector for a promising 20-MeV induction accelerator intended for tomography. ...Owing to the results of the first tests, it was decided to use the injector as an independent X-ray installation 1. In 2014, the high-voltage power supply system of the LIA-2 was upgraded and tuned. The accelerator operates stably in the one-pulse mode at energies of up to 1.7 MeV; in the double-pulse mode it operates at energies of up to 1.5 MeV. The inhomogeneity in energy in each pulse does not exceed ±0.5%.
This article presents the basic systems of the VEPP-5 injection complex of Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics, Siberian Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences. The system of injection–extraction of ...electron and positron beams is described. The results of measurements of the bunch length made in the electron linear accelerator and the storage–cooler ring by a streak camera are provided. The development of assemblies of a prospective positron conversion system based on a liquid-lead target is also described.
Thermal conditions for the additive manufacture of components by melting metal and alloy wire are presented. In an experiment, a prototype 3D printer is used to print components in vacuum.
