The transient bleaching ...recovery in approximately 200 ps confirms quick deactivation of excited CdS on the SWCNT surface. Visible excitation of the CdS–SWCNT film produces a photocurrent and thus provides evidence for the electron‐transfer pathway in the composite.
Summary Psoriasis is a chronic papulosquamous skin disease that is thought to be a T-cell-mediated autoimmune disorder of keratinocyte proliferation. The association between psoriasis and HIV ...infection seems paradoxical, but insights into the role of T-cell subsets, autoimmunity, genetic susceptibility, and infections associated with immune dysregulation might clarify our understanding of the pathogenesis of psoriasis with HIV in general. HIV-associated psoriasis can be clinically confusing because several comorbid skin disorders in patients with HIV can mimic psoriasis. Phenotypic variants such as a Reiter's syndrome or fulminant erythroderma provide diagnostic clues to underlying immunodeficiency. The management of moderate and severe HIV-associated psoriasis is challenging, although patients typically improve with highly active antiretroviral therapy. Conventional systemic treatments might be contraindicated or need dose adjustment to avoid toxicity. New biological treatments in this setting are promising and warrant further study.
Background The existing evidence demonstrates that survivors of SJS/TEN have reported long-lasting psychological effects of their condition. Burns patients experience similar psychological effects. ...It is important to look at ways to help allay the psychological complications of SJS/TEN. As there is an absence of evidence on SJS/TEN psychotherapeutic interventions, it was judged to be beneficial to determine the evidence underpinning psychotherapeutic interventions used with burns patients. Aims and objectives The aim of this systematic integrative review was to synthesize the evidence relating to psychotherapeutic interventions used with adult burns patients and patients with SJS/TEN. Method The systematic review was guided by Whittemore and Knafl's integrative review process and the PRISMA guidelines. Nine databases were searched for English and French language papers published January 2008 to January 2021. The protocol for the review was registered with PROSPERO. Results Following a screening process, 17 studies were included in the review. Two themes were identified using content analysis, (i) Empirically supported psychotherapeutic treatments, (ii) Alternative psychotherapeutic treatments. This review revealed no evidence on specific psychotherapeutic interventions for patients with SJS/TEN. Some of the interventions used with burns patients, viz. relaxation therapy, hypnosis and cognitive behavioral therapy showed some significant benefits. However, the evidence for burns patients is mainly focused on pain and pain anxiety as outcomes. Conclusion Following further research, some of the interventions deployed in burns patients may be applicable to SJS/TEN patients, particularly stress reduction techniques. In addition, the caring behaviours such as compassion, respect, and getting to know the patient as a person are important components to psychological care.

Background
Pseudoepitheliomatous keratotic and micaceous balanitis (PEKMB) is a clinicopathological entity characterized clinically by micaceous scale on the glans, and histologically by acanthosis, ...hyperkeratosis and pseudoepitheliomatous hyperplasia. We present a series of eight cases of this rare condition, the first series of more than two cases to be reported.
Objectives
To determine the clinical and histological characteristics of cases of PEKMB, and evaluate treatments used and clinical course.
Methods
This monocentric case series was conducted at the University College London Hospitals tertiary male genital dermatology clinic between April 2018 and August 2020. Eight patients with PEKMB were evaluated. Data were collected on demographics, clinical presentation, histological features, presence of human papilloma virus (HPV), history of lichen sclerosus, treatment of PEKMB and subsequent response, and presence or development of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) or penile intraepithelial neoplasia (PeIN) during follow‐up.
Results
Eight Caucasian males presented with clinical and histological evidence of PEKMB. Seven had a background of lichen sclerosus; two had failed treatment with superpotent topical steroids and four had symptoms for three or more years prior to circumcision. There was no clinical or histological relationship with HPV infection, and p16 staining was negative. HPV PCR, performed in two cases, was negative. Basal atypia, insufficient to amount to PeIN, was present in six patients. One patient progressed to PeIN during follow‐up, and no patient progressed to invasive malignancy. Five patients were treated successfully with glans resurfacing and split skin graft reconstruction.
Conclusions
Our observations demonstrate that PEKMB represents a form of chronic, undiagnosed or misdiagnosed, inadequately treated or treatment refractory, unstable lichen sclerosus. The significant potential for squamous carcinogenesis (differentiated PeIN and verrucous carcinoma) can be mitigated by timely diagnosis and treatment. Glans resurfacing and split skin graft reconstruction appears to be a successful treatment modality in patients with refractory disease.
Penile intraepithelial neoplasia (PeIN) is a histological term for precancerous penile lesions. PeIN is important due to the high morbidity and mortality associated with progression to penile ...squamous cell carcinoma (PSSC). But PeIN is rare, contributing to a limited evidence-base for the relative efficacy of available treatment options.
To consolidate and expand knowledge about PeIN and its treatment, we describe the clinical and histological characteristics, treatments and outcomes of 345 patients with PeIN, managed by our multidisciplinary team. Our results are compared and contrasted with those in the literature, following comprehensive review.
8.7% of patients had concomitant, invasive PSCC, whilst 91.3% demonstrated PeIN alone. 84% had undifferentiated PeIN, and 10.7% differentiated PeIN (5.2%, not specified). Clinical or histological evidence of HPV alone was present in 58%; features of lichen sclerosus alone in 12%; features of both in 29.4%. Only 14.4% of patients could be treated solely with topical agents or cryotherapy, whereas the remaining 85.6% underwent some form of surgical intervention, circumcision being the mainstay. Just 2.6% progressed to PSCC.
Clinical management of PeIN can be rationally optimized with excellent outcomes. Circumcision is important. Topical treatments alone are disappointing.

Male genital lichen sclerosus (MGLSc) is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis that predominantly affects uncircumcised males. Several aetiological factors have been described, with growing evidence ...supporting chronic urine exposure of susceptible epithelium being crucial to its pathogenesis. We describe a 45-year-old man with a 2-year history of MGLSc at the site of a urethrocutaneous fistula secondary to a penile piercing. To our knowledge, this is the first documented case of MGLSc occurring at the site of a genital piercing.
