In this thesis we shall consider two topics that are contained in combinatorial group theory and concern properties of finitely presented groups. The first problem we examine is that of calculating ...the Fibonacci length of certain families of finitely presented groups. In pursuing this we come across ideas and unsolved problems from number theory. We mainly concentrate on finding the Fibonacci length of powers of dihedral groups, certain Fibonacci groups and a family of metacyclic groups. The second problem we investigate in this thesis is finding if the group PGL(2, p), for p a prime, is efficient on a minimal generating set. We find various presentations that define PGL(2,p) or C2 x PSL(2,p) and direct products of these groups. As in the previous sections we come across number theoretic problems. We also have occasion to use results from tensor theory and homological algebra in order to obtain our results.
Cardiac involvement in systemic amyloidosis carries poor prognosis with a median survival of 5 months.1 The authors report an unusual presentation of cardiac amyloidosis in the form of predominant ...mitral regurgitation. The patient responded very well to medical therapy with subsequent improvement of mitral valve dysfunction. The authors would like to highlight this multisystem involvement and the presence of a complex overlap of systemic features.
Pitu Ulunna Salu (PUS) is a little-known Austronesian language spoken in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. This study touches on several aspects of PUS, ranging from morphophonemics to speech act ...distinctions. The main concentration of the study is on verbal and clause constructions, noting, particularly, how each type of construction encodes focus and underlying transitivity. The PUS focus system is presented as a cline of salience of particular arguments to the predication. Passives are employed to defocus the agent, while antipassives are used to defocus the undergoer. Object focus is the unmarked transitive clause type. Morphological features of PUS verbs present varying degrees of transitivity. PUS utilizes several transitive derivational affixes to increase the valency of stems. Non-prototypical intransitives encode transitive-type action as intransitive. PUS exhibits a split ergative system in which ergativity is marked only in the bound pronoun sets. There are no ergative markings on nominals.
Amino groups in amino acids, proteins and possibly glycoproteins could be conjugated to a product of per-Iodate oxidation of phosphatidyglycerol. The reaction yields an unstable Schiff's base, which ...could be converted to a more stable phosphatidylethanol derivative of the respective amino acid or protein, by a reducing agent such as sodium borohydride. Such derivatives may be a useful alternative to stearylamine in the preparation of cationic liposomes intended for use in enzyme replacement and drug therapy. They may be useful in preparing liposomes with stable glycoprotein and protein moieties sticking outwards on the surface of the vesicle; an important development in the effort to achieve selective homing or targetting of liposomally entrapped therapeutic agent to specific tissues.

A water-vapor maser source has been discovered near NGC 2071. The maser is within 45" of the OH maser OH 204.1-14.1.
