The hydraulic design method of controllable blade angle for rotodynamic multiphase pump with impeller and diffuser is proposed. The distribution of blade angle along the meridional streamline is ...governed by the normalized fourth-order and first-order polynomial function for impeller and diffuser, respectively. The orthogonal optimization method with five factors and four levels is employed by numerical simulation to optimize the geometry parameters, including the shroud angle at the leading and trailing edge βIs0, βIs1, the blade difference at inlet ∆βI0, and the coefficients at hub and shroud kh, ks. According to orthogonal analysis, the influence of each factor on pressure rise is estimated, and the optimization values of for those parameters are determined. The pressure rise of optimization multiphase pump is increased by 12.8 kPa in comparison of the base pump. Results show that the distributions of gas volume fraction (GVF) and the pressure become more uniform after optimization, which improves the transporting performance of the multiphase pump.
Cavitation phenomenon has strong transient characteristics and is highly influenced by geometric structure. In this study, the cavitation performance with influence of blade tip clearance for a ...mixed-flow pump is studied using the renormalization group (RNG) k–ε turbulence model and the Zwart–Gerber–Belamri cavitation model. The dominant frequency and maximum amplitude values at non-cavitation condition and different cavitation conditions are compared and associated with flow field features. The results show that the dominant frequency value under incipient cavitation and critical cavitation is 3.2fi and when the cavitation is severe, the frequency value changes to 3.5fi. Then, the influence of tip clearance width on cavitation performance of the mixed-flow pump is also discussed. The results show that the increase in tip clearance will significantly aggravate the performance drop of the pump under cavitation conditions. The critical net positive suction head value increases in 4.79% of the value under no-tip clearance condition. At the same time, by the inner flow field observation and analysis, the morphological of cavitation bubbles is also changed, and the cavitation bubbles tend to attach to the blade suction side and the attachment length increases as the tip clearance increases.
Pump as Turbine (PAT) is a technically and economically effective technology to utilize small/mini/micro/pico hydropower, especially in rural areas. There are two main subjects that influence the ...selection and application of PAT. On the one hand, manufacturers of pumps will not provide their characteristics under the turbine mode, which requires performance prediction methods. On the other hand, PAT efficiency is always slightly lower than that of pump, which requires further geometry optimization. This literature review summarized published research studies related to performance prediction and geometry optimization, aimed at guiding for selection and optimization of PAT. Currently, there exist four categories of performance prediction methods, namely, using BEP (Best Efficiency Point), using specific speed, loss modeling, and polynomial fitting. The using BEP and loss modeling methods are based on theoretical analysis, while using specific speed and polynomial fitting methods require statistical fitting. The prediction errors of published methods are within ±10% mostly. For geometry optimization, investigations mainly focus on impeller diameter and blade geometry. The influence of impeller trimming, blade rounding, blade wrap angle, blade profile, blade number, blade trailing edge position, and guide vane number has been studied. Among published methods, the blade rounding and forward-curved impellers are the most effective and feasible techniques.
In oil and gas exploitation, the multiphase pump is a vital piece of equipment to guarantee production with high efficiency and stable operation. The complicated pattern of multiphase flow in the ...multiphase pump affects the pump performance; for this reason, the multiphase performance and the inner flow should be sufficiently investigated. In the present work, a liquid-gas multiphase pump is designed and manufactured, and then tested in a specialized test rig to reveal the transient pressure characteristics of the multiphase pump. Results show that the dominant frequency under water and water-air conditions is the blade passing frequency, which is induced by the rotor stator interaction. In the downstream of the impeller, the pressure fluctuation is obviously weakened, because the splitter-blade design could improve the control ability of flow pattern in the downstream region. In comparison with water condition, the pressure fluctuation of water-air condition greatly increases, and the multiples of impeller rotating frequency are stimulated due to the movement and merging of air bubbles. Finally, the correlation of transient pressure and phase distribution in impeller is revealed by using a high-speed camera. With the gradual pressure rise from impeller inlet to outlet, the relative movement and separation of two phases induce violent pressure fluctuations.
The influence of prewhirl regulation by inlet guide vanes (IGVs) on a centrifugal pump performance is investigated experimentally and numerically. The experimental results show that IGVs can ...obviously change the head and increase the efficiency of the tested centrifugal pump over a wide range of flow rates. Although the cavitation performance is degraded, the variation of the cavitation critical point is less than 0.5 m. Movement of the computed three-dimensional streamlines in suction pipe and impeller are analyzed in order to reveal the mechanism how the IGVs realize the prewhirl regulation. The calculated results show that the influence of IGVs on the cavitation performance of centrifugal pump is limited by a maximum total pressure drop of 1777 Pa, about 7.6% of the total pressure at the suction pipe inlet for a prewhirl angle of 24°.
Insertions in exon 20 represent the third most common type of
mutation following in-frame deletions in exon 19 and the point mutation L858R in exon 21. They are generally associated with primary ...resistance to EGFR-TKIs. Although mobocertinib and amivantamab were approved for adult patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring
exon 20 insertion mutations, the efficacy of these two agents was rather moderate. Therefore, other more potent targeted agents are urgently needed. Here, we report a patient with advanced lung adenocarcinoma harboring an
exon 20 insertion mutation (NM_005228: exon 20: c.2316_2321dup: p.773_774dup). After experiencing platinum-based chemotherapy, this patient received a combination of furmonertinib and anlotinib and achieved lasting stable disease (SD). The treatment was well tolerated, and only mild hand-foot syndrome was reported from the patient. To the best of our knowledge, this case firstly reported the encouraging efficacy of combined furmonertinib and anlotinib in an advanced lung adenocarcinoma patient with an
exon 20 insertion mutation who was previously treated with platinum-based chemotherapy. In addition, we summarize the recent literature on therapies against NSCLC with
exon 20 insertion mutations. This case might provide an alternative approach for clinical oncologists.
The existing research on improving the hydraulic performance of centrifugal pumps mainly focuses on the design method and the parameter optimization. The traditional design method for centrifugal ...impellers relies more on experience of engineers that typically only satisfies the continuity equation of the fluid. In this study, on the basis of the direct and inverse iteration design method which simultaneously solves the continuity and motion equations of the fluid and shapes the blade geometry by controlling the wrap angle, three centrifugal pump impellers are designed by altering blade wrap angles while keeping other parameters constant. The three-dimensional flow fields in three centrifugal pumps are numerically simulated, and the simulation results illustrate that the blade with larger wrap angle has more powerful control ability on the flow pattern in impeller. The three pumps have nearly the same pressure distributions at the small flow rate, but the pressure gradient increase in the pump with the largest wrap angle is smoother than the other two pumps at the design and large flow rates. The pump head and efficiency are also influenced by the blade wrap angle. The highest head and efficiency are also observed for the largest angle. An experiment rig is designed and built to test the performance of the pump with the largest wrap angle. The test results show that the wide space of its efficiency area and the stability of its operation ensure the excellent performance of the design method and verify the numerical analysis. The analysis on influence of the blade wrap angle for centrifugal pump performance in this paper can be beneficial to the optimization design of the centrifugal pump.
The incidence of multiple primary malignant tumors (MPMTs) has increased greatly with the progress of tumor diagnosis and therapy technology. However, triple primary cancer is still very rare, and ...its genetic change is not clear yet. This case report described a 70-year-old Chinese male patient with triple primary cancers of the esophagus, stomach and right-sided colon. Pathological examination confirmed that each malignant tumor developed independently. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) using a 599-gene panel revealed five
TP53
mutations in three tumor tissues. These variations might contribute to development of the triple primary malignant tumors in the patient. The patient underwent laparoscopic feeding jejunostomy and postoperative radiotherapy for synchronous esophageal and gastric carcinomas. Then, he underwent laparoscopic-assisted resection of right-sided colonic cancer and lysis of abdominal adhesions. By the time of submitting this manuscript, the patient had been well and no sign of recurrence or metastasis had been observed. To the best of our knowledge, this case is the first one to clarify the genetic abnormalities of triple primary cancers of esophagus, stomach and colon in a Chinese patient. It may contribute to understanding the molecular pathogenesis of multiple primary digestive malignancies and providing valuable treatment strategies for the similar patients in the future.
As a solution for solar heating, the low-cost and long-life vanadium-titanium black ceramic solar absorbers have been used in rural construction. However, in contrast to its high absorptance ...(0.93–0.97), ceramic also has high emissivity (approximately 90%) and low thermal conductivity (1.3 W/(m·K)). Without a glaze covering, ceramic absorbers cannot meet the industrial standard. This paper assumes that glaze covering can be substituted by insulation film in a solar greenhouse. To verify this assumption, field experiments were conducted. First, a traditional greenhouse in the Tacheng Basin, a severely cold area in China, was renovated to improve its passive thermal performance. Then, 90 m
2
of ceramic absorbers and floor coils as well as a water tank were installed inside the greenhouse, which made the entire construction act as an integrated solar collector. This heat collection and release system moderately increased the indoor air temperature (0.9°C–22.4°C) and substantially increased the soil temperature (15.5°C–31.2°C). The average daily useful heat gain under a daily solar insolation value of 17 MJ/m
2
was 13.8 MJ, and the mean value of the collection efficiency was 0.81. Furthermore, the payback time of the project (7 years) is short, which is principally due to the low cost of ceramic materials and the financial savings of the shared construction components (e.g., transparent cover, metal frame and extra insulation). In conclusion, the main contribution of this study is the verification that it is feasible to replace glaze covering with insulation film in a novel greenhouse-integrated vanadium-titanium black ceramic solar system.
