By combining different research disciplines, biologists can understand natural processes in a broader way. Here, we combine both taxonomic and bioacoustic methodologies to provide the first ...observations of the morphology, geographical distribution, and the acoustic behavior of the monotypic genus Andeophylloides n. gen. This katydid is the second short-winged genus of the tribe Platyphyllini, after Brachyplatyphylloides, both of which are found in the Colombian Andes. This new genus is unique, because it is the first to be collected in a High Andean Forest, in contrast to the other members of the tribe that have been found predominantly at lower elevations. The sound recordings showed males calling with an echeme duration in average of 5.9 ± 3.1 s, a peak frequency of 22.5 kHz, and peak activity starting at 19:00 and decreasing until 05:00. These calls occur mainly in the months of the first rainy season of the year (March to May). Andeophylloides zarauzensis n. sp., is the sixth species of platyphyllines which calling song is known. Additionally, we discuss the taxonomy, bioacoustics, and differentiate the species with Dasyscelidius atrifrons (Pleminiini). This is required as the females are superficially similar and both species share the same geographical distribution.

In this investigation, the Continuous-Wave Optically Stimulated Luminescence (CW-OSL) properties of polyminerals extracted from Mexican and Peruvian Guajillo chilli were studied using a source of ...cesium-137 (Cs-137) gamma radiation. The Guajillo chilli polyminerals were stimulated with blue light for 120 s, and their luminescence was detected in the UV region. The General Order Kinetics (GOK) deconvolution analysis of the CW-OSL curves was carried out using three individual components. The CW-OSL dose response from 10 to 5000 Gy was analysed in Guajillo chilli polyminerals. After different storage periods, the polyminerals show an increase in the CW-OSL intensity. A strong and moderate effect of the sunlight (60 min) and artificial (6 h) light is observed on the CW-OSL response. Therefore, the CW-OSL properties of polyminerals could be used in the identification of Mexican and Peruvian Guajillo chilli exposed to Cs-137 gamma radiation.

The infiltration of substances into the buttocks for esthetic purposes can cause local or systemic damage. These infiltrated substances, known as adjuvants, foreign substances, and polymers, often ...lack sufficient and frequently controversial evidence. To identify the systemic complications associated with substances locally infiltrated in the buttocks for treatment, we conducted a systematic review following the PRISMA criteria. Of 275 publications, 29 met the eligibility criteria: 3 systematic reviews, 6 case series, and 20 case reports. The study comprises 463 cases, mainly women (87%), with an average age of 39.94 years. The average time between infiltrations was 7.65 years. Infiltrated substances included silicone, oils, methyl methacrylate, guaiacol, sodium gadolinium, collagen, paraffin, and other unknown substances. The complications fell into three categories: local, systemic with inflammatory-immune response, and renal damage due to hypercalcemia induced by the granulomatosis caused by the substance. Treatment lacked uniformity, mainly focusing on the main effect. Surgical resection of affected tissue resulted in local and systemic improvement (renal, hypercalcemia, or inflammatory-immune) for most patients. Patients who received comprehensive treatment based on inflammatory-immune control, control of renal involvement, and resection of the tissue area that contained large amounts of the infiltrated substance had a better prognosis than those with diffuse infiltration and delayed treatment.
The purpose of this research is to compare the perceptions of Spanish and British tourists in the formation of the overall perceived value of the purchase decision-making process for a hotel stay. ...Comparison is made between two key tourism distribution channels: offline, via a travel agency; and online, via the Internet. The sample comprised 600 tourists. Of these, 300 (150 Spanish and 150 British) had purchased hotel accommodation for their last holiday via an offline travel agency, and the other 300 (again, 150 Spanish and 150 British) had done so via the Internet. Given that the two countries differ in their cultural dimensions, the results show that the “uncertainty-avoidance” and “individualism/collectivism” dimensions moderate the relationship between the antecedents of overall perceived value. These differences are not homogeneous, depending instead on the medium through which the service is purchased. The present research takes a comprehensive approach to overall perceived value formation, considering differences both in culture and also in distribution channel, and including different phases: purchase and use.

The version of the questionnaire translated into Spanish presented a very good internal consistency with a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.94 and a very good reproducibility with an Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) of 0.99.
The HSS-ES questionnaire presents an adequate intragroup validation and a strong intergroup correlation according to the internal consistency analysis of the questionnaire and the ICC. Therefore, it is considered an adequate questionnaire to use in the Spanish-speaking population.
El cuestionario Hospital for Special Surgery Shoulder Surgery Expectations Survey (HSS-ES) es una herramienta utilizada para evaluar las expectativas preoperatorias de los pacientes con patologías de hombro. El propósito de este estudio es realizar la traducción, la adaptación cultural y la validación a la versión en español del cuestionario HSS-ES para evaluar las expectativas preoperatorias en pacientes hispanoparlantes.
Estudio tipo validación de cuestionario mediante un método estructurado donde se procesó, evaluó y validó una herramienta tipo encuesta. En el estudio participaron 70 pacientes de la consulta externa de cirugía de hombro de un hospital de tercer nivel, con patologías de hombro con indicación quirúrgica.
La versión del cuestionario traducida al idioma español presentó una muy buena consistencia interna, con un alfa de Cronbach de 0,94 y una muy buena reproducibilidad, con un coeficiente de correlación intraclase (CCI) de 0,99.
El cuestionario HSS-ES presenta una adecuada validación intragrupo y una fuerte correlación intergrupo según el análisis de consistencia interna del cuestionario y el CCI, por lo cual se considera un cuestionario adecuado para utilizar en la población hispanoparlante.

Non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic (and previous health crises) have included measures to restrict interaction between people and minimize non-essential ...mobility. Therefore, tourism travel is one of the main areas affected by the restrictions. Even when the majority of the population is vaccinated, some risk of infection will remain, and governments are obliged to consider NPI measures that balance the health risk of outbreaks against the economic and social benefits of resuming tourist activity. This study analyzes the effect of each of four categories of NPIs (Social Distancing; Public Healthcare-System Improvements; Tourist Controls; and Capacity and Opening-Hours Regulation) on three major objectives (the resumption of tourism activity; tourist travel intention; and the minimization of public health risk), taking a triangular perspective (destination managers, domestic tourists, and public healthcare managers, respectively). While it is difficult to fulfil public healthcare objectives while simultaneously responding to the economic interests of tourism-industry stakeholders, the study finds that, under vaccinated-population conditions, tourist controls (e.g. COVID Certificate) alongside improvements to the public healthcare system (e.g. adequate resourcing and an efficient epidemiological monitoring system) could constitute a viable combination of measures.
