A proposal for a pixel-based Level 1 trigger for the Super-LHC is presented. The trigger is based on fast track reconstruction using the full pixel granularity exploiting a readout which connects ...different layers in specific trigger towers. The trigger will implement the current CMS high level trigger functionality in a novel concept of intelligent detector. A possible layout is discussed and implications on data links are evaluated.
This paper discusses how to add privacy features to the Janus WebRTC media server and gateway. In order to do so, we embrace a standard approach, by leveraging work currently ongoing within the IETF ...PERC working group. PERC stands for Privacy Enhanced RTP Conferencing and is aimed at enabling centralized real-time conferencing in a scenario where the central media forwarding entity is not required to be trusted by any of the conference participants. The paper analyzes the impact of the integration of double encryption, which is part of the PERC efforts, both on the Janus core and on the plugins it provides for WebRTC streams management and manipulation.

We present Jattack, an automated stressing tool for the analysis of the performance of WebRTC-enabled server-side components. Jattack has been initially conceived with the primary objective of ...performing a thorough scalability analysis of the well-known Janus WebRTC gateway. As such, it re-uses most of the Janus core stack components in order to reliably emulate the behavior of a dynamically adjustable number of WebRTC clients. The specific testing .scenario can indeed be programmatically reproduced by writing a small "controller" component, which takes on the responsibility of properly orchestrating the scenario itself. The general-purpose nature of the tool, together with its flexibility deriving from the controller-based programmable approach, makes Jattack also suitable for stress-testing other WebRTC-enabled servers.

An important tool for the discovery of new physics at LHC is the design of a low level trigger with an high power of background rejection. The contribution of pixel detector to the lowest level ...trigger at CMS is studied focusing on low-energy jet identification, matching the information from calorimeters and pixel detector. In addition, primary vertex algorithms are investigated. The performances are evaluated in terms of, respectively, QCD rejection and multihadronic jets final states efficiency.
Health care assessment is a very relevant process in health services organization. Despite home care appears to be a very important tool in health care delivery system, its impact has been only ...rarely evaluated in this country. The observational study we performed in the ASL Città di Milano on patients affected by ictus cerebri was aimed at addressing some questions in order to assess whether services can be delivered more cost effectively. We chose to look mainly at the effectiveness and cost of services for the people in need and their caregivers selected in two years time. The results are showed according to different patients' profiles and precocity of recruitment. Their analysis shows that further improvements can still be made in order to achieve a better tailored profile of delivery. Moreover it can be seen how the burden of costs still falls largely on families and caregivers. The study can be seen as premises for further analyses as well as a follow up intervention.
