, where a polytropic equation of state was used. To achieve our objective, we considered compact stars which were built by using equations of state in the framework of a relativistic mean field theory for the case of hadronic stars and in the framework of the MIT model for the case of quark stars. In order to obtain some pertinent information that could give us the possibility to detect the anisotropy in compact stars, we also studied and analized the behaviour of various global stellar quantities, e.g., gravitational redshift, stellar mass, radius, among others. We concluded that the anisotropic effects can have important consequences, which are strongly related to the anisotropic parameter and the equation of state of high density matter. Additionally, a comparison with observational data has been made and we have shown that the anisotropic parameter

can be used as a tuning parameter to reproduce mass and radius observational data of neutron stars.

We studied rates of granulocyte and platelets recovery in 359 consecutive subjects receiving blood cell infusions in the context of autotransplants for plasma cell myeloma (N = 216) and lymphomas (N ...= 143). Blood cells were mobilised with filgrastim given for 4-5 days and collected after a median of 2 (range, 1-2) apheresis. Apheresis products were stored at 4° C for a median of 3 days (range, 2-6 days). Most subjects received carmustine, etoposide, cytarabine and melphalan (BEAM), cyclophosphamide, carmustine and etoposide (CBV) or high-dose melphalan. Filgrastim was given post transplant to 319 subjects. Median numbers of mononuclear cells collected was 31 × 10E + 6/kg (interquartile range (IQR) 37 × 10E + 6 cells/kg). Median numbers of CD34-positive cells collected was 3.6 × 10E + 6/kg (IQR 3.8 × 10E + 6/Kg). Median viability after collection was 90% (IQR 7%) after storage, 88% (IQR 12%). A total of 255 of 256 evaluable subjects recovered bone marrow function and there was no late bone marrow failure. Median interval to neutrophils >0.5 × E + 9/L was 13 days (range, 9-39 days) and to platelets >20 × 10E + 9/L, 16 days (range, 7-83 days). These rates and ranges seem comparable to those reported after autotransplants of frozen blood cells. There was no correlation between numbers of storage days at 4 °C and viability afte storage (r = -0.018, p = 0.14)) nor rates of recovery of neutrophils (r = -0.054, p = 0.52) or platelets (r = 0.116, p = 0.14). Blood cells collected for autotransplant can be stored at 4 °C for 6 d. This method is simple, inexpensive and widely applicable.
The use of high-flow nasal therapy (HFNT) in patients with severe acute respiratory failure (SARF) due to COVID-19 pneumonia (NCOVID-19) is debated. Given the lack of beds in Intensive Care Units in ...the Public Health System of the Province of Neuquén, their use was implemented in general wards. This restrospective multicenter study was carried out to describe the experience of using HNFT in patients with SARF due to NCOVID-19. The primary outcome was the frequency of successful weaning from HFNT and in-hospital mortality (IHM). Two hundred ninety-nine patients were analyzed; 120 (40.1%) were successfully withdrawn from HFNT. This failed in 59.8% (179), 44.1% (132) required invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), and 15.7% (47) was not candidates for intubation. A ROX index = 5 at 6 h after initiation was associated with the success of HFNT (OR 0.26 IC 95% 0.15-0.46 p < 0.0001). The general IHM was 48.5% (145/299), 70.4% (93/132) in patients with IMV, 4.2% (5/120) died after successful weaning from HFNT and 100% (47/47) in the group not candidates for intubation. Patients with TNAFO had a statistically significant decrease in MIH and days of hospitalization. TNAFO in general wards achieved a decrease in the use of IMV, with a reduction in mortality and days of stay in hospitalized for NCOVID-19 with SARF.

Este ...estudio realiza un análisis bibliométrico de la producción científica sobre redes sociales en bibliotecas en Iberoamérica que se encuentra indexada en la base de datos Scopus durante el período 2007-2021. Se analizan 76 publicaciones mediante indicadores de producción, colaboración, impacto y de análisis estructural temático. Los resultados muestran que la producción científica sobre redes sociales en bibliotecas ha tenido un crecimiento irregular durante este período; los autores y revistas españolas presentan una mayor productividad; las publicaciones en revistas de EE. UU. o Reino Unido mejor posicionadas tienen mayor impacto; y existe un bajo nivel de colaboración científica. Además, predominan los estudios enfocados a bibliotecas universitarias o académicas, aunque aparecen también aplicados a todo tipo de bibliotecas.
Resumo Fundamento Não existem estudos randomizados comparando a manutenção do ritmo sinusal após ablação por cateter (AC) em relação ao tratamento com fármacos antiarrítmicos (AA) em pacientes idosos ...portadores fibrilação atrial (FA) paroxística. Objetivos Comparar os resultados clínicos do isolamento das veias pulmonares (VPs) com o cateter PVAC Gold de segunda geração com o uso de AA em idosos com FA paroxística sintomática, recorrente, apesar do uso de fármacos AA. Métodos Sessenta pacientes com FA paroxística ≥ 65 anos e sem cardiopatias estruturais foram randomizados para duas formas de tratamento: grupo 1: AC e grupo 2: AA. O desfecho primário foi a taxa livre de recorrência de FA após pelo menos um ano de seguimento. Os desfechos secundários foram: progressão para formas persistentes de FA, impacto na qualidade de vida (QVFA) e complicações. O nível de significância adotado na análise estatística foi de 5% (p<0,05). Resultados A taxa livre de recorrência de FA foi de 80% (10% com amiodarona) no grupo AC, após 1,3 procedimentos por paciente e de 65% no grupo AA (60% com amiodarona), (p = 0,119) num seguimento médio de 719 dias (Q1: 566; Q3: 730). A taxa livre de FA persistente foi de 83,4% no grupo AC e de 67,7% no grupo AA (p = 0,073). Ambas as estratégias apresentaram melhora no escore de QVFA durante o seguimento (p < 0,001), sem diferença entre os grupos. Embora sem repercussão clínica ou impacto no teste de avaliação intelectual, 25% dos pacientes do grupo PVAC apresentou sinais de embolização cerebral na RNM cerebral. Conclusões Ambas as estratégias para manutenção do ritmo sinusal promoveram melhora na qualidade de vida de pacientes idosos com FA sintomática, sem diferença estatística nos desfechos clínicos preconizados. Estudos adicionais usando tecnologias com melhor perfil de segurança são necessários para avaliar os benefícios da AC em pacientes idosos com FA.

Although graphitic materials are considered indispensable across many industries, practitioners and researchers have shown that graphene is still in development and its industrial implementation in ...mass production may save many organizations millions of dollars a year. This paper presents a comprehensive and systematic literature review of graphene synthesis methods. In our research, we noticed an increasing trend in publications for research under diverse scenarios (e.g., engineering, entrepreneurship, academy, etc.), which limits the generalizing of the findings due to the nature of graphene’s synthesis. Most of these studies were conducted about electrical and mechanical properties for possible sector applications due to its structure. We found that less effort has been made to analyse the development and synthesis of methods that allow graphene manufacturing in industrial quantities. We classified the five most important synthesis methods of graphene, categorizing chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and adhesive tape exfoliation as the most implemented methods, with the latter getting better quality and greater quantity of graphene. We also identified needs for research on graphene that goes beyond its known properties, by focusing on models that encompass the innovation needed for manufacturers of materials in areas, such as electronics and energy.
Several rare or orphan diseases have been characterized that singly affect low numbers of people, but cumulatively reach ∼6%-10% of the population in Europe and in the United States. Human genetics ...has shown to be broadly effective when evaluating subjacent genetic defects such as orphan genetic diseases, but on the other hand, a modest progress has been achieved toward comprehending the molecular pathologies and designing new therapies. Chemical genetics, placed at the interface of chemistry and genetics, could be employed to understand the molecular mechanisms of subjacent illnesses and for the discovery of new remediation processes. This review debates current progress in chemical genetics, and how a variety of compounds and reaction mechanisms can be used to study and ultimately treat rare genetic diseases. We focus here on a study involving Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) and Familial Amyloid Polyneuropathy (FAP), approaching different treatment methods and the reaction mechanisms of several compounds, trying to elucidate new routes capable of assisting in the treatment profile.
