Background
Hepatic vein tumour thrombus (HVTT) is a major determinant of survival outcomes for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). An Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital (EHBH)‐HVTT ...model was established to predict the prognosis of patients with HCC and HVTT after liver resection, in order to identify optimal candidates for liver resection.
Methods
Patients with HCC and HVTT from 15 hospitals in China were included. The EHBH‐HVTT model with contour plot was developed using a non‐linear model in the training cohort, and subsequently validated in internal and external cohorts.
Results
Of 850 patients who met the inclusion criteria, there were 292 patients who had liver resection and 198 who did not in the training cohort, and 124 and 236 in the internal and external validation cohorts respectively. Contour plots for the EHBH‐HVTT model were established to predict overall survival (OS) rates of patients visually, based on tumour diameter, number of tumours and portal vein tumour thrombus. This differentiated patients into low‐ and high‐risk groups with distinct long‐term prognoses in the liver resection cohort (median OS 34·7 versus 12·0 months; P < 0·001), internal validation cohort (32·8 versus 10·4 months; P = 0·002) and external validation cohort (15·2 versus 6·5 months; P = 0·006). On subgroup analysis, the model showed the same efficacy in differentiating patients with HVTT in peripheral and major hepatic veins, the inferior vena cava, or in patients with coexisting portal vein tumour thrombus.
Conclusion
The EHBH‐HVTT model was accurate in predicting prognosis in patients with HCC and HVTT after liver resection. It identified optimal candidates for liver resection among patients with HCC and HVTT, including tumour thrombus in the inferior vena cava, or coexisting portal vein tumour thrombus.

La trombosis tumoral de la vena hepática (hepatic vein tumour thrombus, HVTT) es un determinante importante de los resultados de supervivencia en pacientes con carcinoma hepatocelular (hepatocellular carcinoma, HCC). Se desarrolló el modelo llamado Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital (EHBH)‐HVTT para predecir el pronóstico de los pacientes con HCC y HVTT después de la resección hepática (liver resection, LR), con el fin de identificar los candidatos óptimos para LR entre estos pacientes.
Métodos
Se incluyeron pacientes con HCC y HVTT de 15 hospitales en China. El modelo EHBH‐HVTT con gráfico de contorno se desarrolló utilizando un modelo no lineal en la cohorte de entrenamiento, siendo posteriormente validado en cohortes internas y externas.
Resultados
De 850 pacientes que cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión, hubo 292 pacientes en el grupo LR y 198 pacientes en el grupo no LR en la cohorte de entrenamiento, y 124 y 236 en las cohortes de validación interna y externa. Los gráficos de contorno del modelo EHBH‐HVTT se establecieron para predecir visualmente las tasas de supervivencia global (overall survival, OS) de los pacientes, en función del diámetro del tumor, número de tumores y del trombo tumoral de la vena porta (portal vein tumour thrombus, PVTT). Esto diferenciaba a los pacientes en los grupos de alto y bajo riesgo, con distinto pronóstico a largo plazo en las 3 cohortes (34,7 versus 12,0 meses, 32,8 versus 10,4 meses y 15,2 versus 6,5 meses, P < 0,001). En el análisis de subgrupos, el modelo mostró la misma eficacia en la diferenciación de pacientes con HVTT, con trombo tumoral en la vena cava inferior (inferior vena cava tumour thrombus, IVCTT) o en pacientes con PVTT coexistente.
Conclusión
El modelo EHBH‐HVTT fue preciso para la predicción del pronóstico en pacientes con HCC y HVTT después de la LR. Identificó candidatos óptimos para LR en pacientes con HCC y HVTT, incluyendo IVCTT o PVTT coexistente.

Considering the usual Gaussian noise and based on statistical decision theory, the accumulated data of the measured switching current distributions are processed, and the threshold sensitivity of the demonstrated JRTD device is estimated. The minimum detectable IR radiation power of the proposed detector is approximately 0.74 pW, which corresponds to the photon rate of 5.692 × 10
photons/second. Further optimisation of JRTDs to implement the desired binary detection of a single photon is still a subject of argument, at least theoretically.
Elucidating the cellular organization of the cerebral cortex is critical for understanding brain structure and function. Using large-scale single-nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomic ...analysis of 143 macaque cortical regions, we obtained a comprehensive atlas of 264 transcriptome-defined cortical cell types and mapped their spatial distribution across the entire cortex. We characterized the cortical layer and region preferences of glutamatergic, GABAergic, and non-neuronal cell types, as well as regional differences in cell-type composition and neighborhood complexity. Notably, we discovered a relationship between the regional distribution of various cell types and the region’s hierarchical level in the visual and somatosensory systems. Cross-species comparison of transcriptomic data from human, macaque, and mouse cortices further revealed primate-specific cell types that are enriched in layer 4, with their marker genes expressed in a region-dependent manner. Our data provide a cellular and molecular basis for understanding the evolution, development, aging, and pathogenesis of the primate brain.

Recently, the +2 formal oxidation state in soluble molecular complexes for lanthanides (La-Nd, Sm-Lu) and actinides (Th and U) has been discovered W. J. Evans, et al., J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2011, 133, ...15914; J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2012, 134, 8420; J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2013, 135, 13310; Chem. Sci., 2015, 6, 517. To explore the nature of the bonding and stabilities of the low-valent actinide complexes, a series of divalent actinide species, AnCp'3(-) (Andouble bond, length as m-dashTh-Am, Cp' = η(5)-C5H4(SiMe3)(-)) have been investigated in THF solution using scalar relativistic density functional theory. The electronic structures and electron affinity properties were systematically studied to identify the interactions between the +2 actinide ions and Cp' ligands. The ground state electron configurations for the AnCp'3(-) species are ThCp'3(-) 6d(2), PaCp'3(-) 5f(2)6d(1), UCp'3(-) 5f(3)6d(1), NpCp'3(-) 5f(5), PuCp'3(-) 5f(6), and AmCp'3(-) 5f(7), respectively, according to the MO analysis. The total bonding energy decreases from the Th- to the Am-complex and the electrostatic interactions mainly dominate the bonding between the actinide atom and ligands. The electron affinity analysis suggests that the reduction reaction of AnCp'3→ AnCp'3(-) should become increasingly facile across the actinide series from Th to Am, in accord with the known An(iii/ii) reduction potentials. This work expands the knowledge on the low oxidation state chemistry of actinides, and further motivates and guides the synthesis of related low oxidation state compounds of 5f elements.

The surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) was used to successfully prepare the aminated cotton and polyacrylic acid sodium (P(AA-Na))-grafted cotton for the efficient removal of Cu(II) and Pb(II) from aqueous solution in this study. The modified cotton surfaces were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The grafted long polymers with high density of amine and carboxyl groups on the cotton surfaces were responsible for the enhanced adsorption of heavy metals. The sorption behaviors including sorption kinetics, isotherms and pH effect were investigated. The sorption equilibrium of Cu(II) and Pb(II) was achieved within 1
h on the P(AA-Na)-grafted cotton, much faster than 8
h on the aminated cotton. According to the Langmuir fitting, the maximum sorption capacities of Cu(II) and Pb(II) on the P(AA-Na)-grafted cotton were 2.45 and 2.44
mmol/g, respectively, higher than many adsorbents reported in the literature. The P(AA-Na)-grafted cotton had better adsorption behaviors for Cu(II) and Pb(II) than the aminated cotton.
Background
An increasing number of studies have shown an association between migraine and cardiovascular disease, in particular cardio- and cerebro-vascular events.
Methods
Three electronic databases ...(PubMed, Embase and Scopus) were searched from inception to May 22, 2021 for prospective cohort studies evaluating the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke and cardiovascular mortality in migraine patients. A random effects meta-analysis model was used to summarize the included studies.
Results
A total of 18 prospective cohort studies were included consisting of 370,050 migraine patients and 1,387,539 controls. Migraine was associated with myocardial infarction (hazard ratio, 1.36; 95% CI, 1.23–1.51;
p
= < 0.001), unspecified stroke (hazard ratio, 1.30; 95% CI, 1.07–1.60;
p
= 0.01), ischemic stroke (hazard ratio, 1.35; 95% CI, 1.03–1.78;
p
= 0.03) and hemorrhagic stroke (hazard ratio, 1.43; 95% CI, 1.07–1.92;
p
= 0.02). Subgroup analysis of migraine with aura found a further increase in risk of myocardial infarction and both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, as well as improved substantial statistical heterogeneity. Migraine with aura was also associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular mortality (hazard ratio, 1.27; 95% CI, 1.14–1.42;

= < 0.001).
Conclusion
Migraine, especially migraine with aura, is associated with myocardial infarction and stroke. Migraine with aura increases the risk of overall cardiovascular mortality.
Abstract This study was designed to investigate whether delta opioid receptor (DOR) is involved in the neuroprotective effect induced by hypoxic preconditioning (HPC) in the asphyxial cardiac arrest ...(CA) rat model. Twenty-four hours after the end of 7-day HPC, the rats were subjected to 8-min asphyxiation and resuscitated with a standardized method. In the asphyxial CA rat model, HPC improved the neurological deficit score (NDS), inhibited neuronal apoptosis, and increased the number of viable hippocampal CA1 neurons at 24 h, 72 h, or 7 days after restoration of spontaneous circulation (ROSC); however, the above-mentioned neuroprotection of HPC was attenuated by naltrindole (a selective DOR antagonist). The expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) and DOR, and the content of leucine enkephalin (L-ENK) in the brain were also investigated after the end of 7-day HPC. HPC upregulated the neuronal expression of HIF-1α and DOR, and synchronously elevated the content of L-ENK in the rat brain. HIF-1α siRNA was used to further elucidate the relationship between HIF-1α and DOR in the HPC-treated brain. Knockdown of HIF-1α by siRNA markedly abrogated the HPC induced upregulation of HIF-1α and DOR. The present study demonstrates that the expression of DOR in the rat brain is upregulated by HIF-1α following exposure to 7-day HPC, at the same time, HPC also increases the production of endogenous DOR ligand L-ENK in the brain. DOR activation after HPC results in prolonged neuroprotection against subsequent global cerebral ischemic injury, suggesting a new mechanism of HPC-induced neuroprotection on global cerebral ischemia following CA and resuscitation.

The Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL) is a multi-disciplinary research facility that provides heavy ion beams for physical, biomedical and material sciences. It is a major academic ...facility of China and one of the world's important centers in nuclear physics and accelerators. The facility was built step by step at Institute of Modern Physics (IMP) over a half century. The first cyclotron was built with great assistance from the former Soviet Union in 1960s, and the newest linear accelerator was tested successfully in 2019. The HIRFL accelerator can provide beams from proton to Uranium with energies of hundreds MeV/u, and hence diverse fundamental sciences and applied researches were carried out at IMP. In this paper, an introduction of the HIRFL accelerator complex was presented. Details of the HIRFL components including ion sources, cyclotrons, synchrotrons, linac and experimental terminals were described. The current operation status and upgrade plans were reported.
