Potassium ion batteries (KIBs) are promising energy storage systems for large-scale applications. However, owing to the large diameter of K+, these batteries show limited electrochemical performance, particularly in terms of cycling stability. Thus, it is essential to design novel electrode materials for practical applications of KIBs. In this study, novel N-doped porous carbon nanofibers embedded with ultrafine ZnSe nanocrystals were successfully prepared as an advanced anode material for KIBs via electrospinning of a Zn-based zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) and subsequent thermal treatment. Numerous mesopores were generated within the nanofibers by the transformation of ZIF-8 nanoparticles into a hollow carbon frame during thermal treatment. The unique 1D structure provided sufficient active sites for K+ storage, shortened the diffusion path for ions, and enhanced the structural robustness of the electrode. The N-doped carbon matrix also effectively alleviated the mechanical stress in the ZnSe nanocrystals and improved the electrical conductivity. Consequently, the 1D porous nanostructured electrodes exhibited excellent long-term cycling stability for 1000 cycles when tested as anodes for KIBs, with a reversible capacity of 270 mA h g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 and a high-rate capacity of 139 mA h g−1 at 2.0 A g−1.
This study was carried out to balance the production and consumption of assimilates according to crop conditions as a basis to reduce the waste of assimilation through leaf and fruit control. There ...were four treatments: one fruit and two leaves (F1L2); two fruits and two leaves (F2L2); two fruits and three leaves (F2L3); and two fruits and four leaves (F2L4). This study showed that, as the number of leaves increased in Periods 1 and 2, the stem diameter and average weight decreased, with F1L2 having the highest stem diameter and average weight, although its numbers of leaves and fruits were the fewest. In the summer, Period 3, F1L2 production was the lowest due to increased rates of flower drop and fruit drop. In Period 4, when ambient temperature and light levels were decreased, the number of fruits was increased. However, the production was decreased. F1L2 and F2L4 showed significant decreases in production. Although F1L2 showed the highest average weight, it had a low production due to a decrease in the number of fruits. F2L4 showed weak generative growth due to an imbalance in growth over the summer. After reaching the last stage of development, the number of leaves showed the highest average weight and production in F2L4.
Prurigo pigmentosa is a rare inflammatory skin disease characterized by an unexpected onset of diffuse erythematous papules and macules usually on the chest, neck, and back. These generally resolve, ...leaving reticular hyperpigmentation. Rarely, vesicular or bullous forms have been reported. We present a case of exfoliative vesiculobullous prurigo pigmentosa in a 13-year-old boy. He presented with symmetrical eruption of papules and vesicles on his back, neck, and chest in the last 10 days, causing pruritis and prickling sensation. Within a few days, the bullous lesions and all affected areas of the skin showed exfoliation. Histological study and clinical findings indicated the condition to be vesiculobullous prurigo pigmentosa with exfoliation. Treatment with doxycycline 200 mg/day and topical tacrolimus ointment showed a good response. The lesions resolved, leaving a light-brown reticulated hyperpigmentation. In conclusion, this was a case of exfoliative vesiculobullous prurigo pigmentosa in an adolescent man successfully treated with doxycycline and topical tacrolimus as an effective and safe treatment option.
As pilomatricoma is a common adnexal skin tumor often occurring in exposed areas, dermatologists focus on minimizing postsurgical scarring.
This retrospective study included patients aged < 19 years ...who underwent surgical treatment for pilomatricoma at a single university hospital from 2015 to 2021. Patient demographics, tumor characteristics, and surgical outcomes were analyzed according to the surgical methods including punch incision and elliptical excision.
Overall, 75 patients and 79 lesions were included in the study. The mean age of the patients was 8.4 years, and 48 patients (64.0%) were females. The face was the most common site of pilomatricoma (51.9%), and within the face, the cheeks were the most common sites. No recurrence was observed in the elliptical excision group, while one case of recurrence (4.5%) was observed in the punch incision group. The mean length of the wound was 2.00 cm in the elliptical excision group, which was longer than that in the punch incision group (0.49 cm;
< .001).
Considering that surgery is the gold standard treatment for pilomatricoma, punch incision may be useful as an alternative surgical option for pilomatricoma in children.

In Korea, there is a high dependency on oriental medicine and folk remedies (Korean J Asthma Allergy Clin Immunol, 25, 2005, 110). In addition, inaccurate information available through the Internet ...is increasing (Korean J Dermatol, 44, 2006, 137). So, there is always a possibility that patients may have difficulty obtaining accurate information about atopic dermatitis (AD). The aim was to determine the awareness, treatment behavior and treatment satisfaction of patients with AD and their caregivers. In October 2017, patients diagnosed with AD at nine hospitals were enrolled in this study. A questionnaire was completed by each patient. A total of 371 subjects were surveyed. In response to the question asking about knowledge of AD, the correct answer rate was 55.4%. Bathing using soap, body scrub and moisturizer showed favorable outcomes. A total of 54.9% patients responded that they were reluctant to use steroid ointment. When asked about their previous treatment, 39.6% reported using oriental medicine and 26.5% had tried folk remedies. The hospital treatment satisfaction score was 6.6. Patients usually applied their knowledge in their daily lives. However, there was a lot of inaccurate knowledge. Therefore, it is important for patients to understand the characteristics of this disease and obtain correct information.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, inflammatory cutaneous disease that is characterized by complex immune dysregulation and skin barrier dysfunction with a wide variety of clinical phenotypes. ...Until recently, conventional therapeutic modalities for AD remained rather non-specific despite AD's complex etiology. Failing to take into account the underlying inflammatory pathways led to treatments with inadequate efficacy or unacceptable long-term toxicities. We are currently in the midst of a therapeutic renaissance in AD. Recent progress in molecular medicine provides us a better understanding of the AD pathogenesis, suggesting a dominant helper T cell (Th) 2/Th22 response with a varying degree of Th1/Th17 overexpression. Targeted therapeutic agents including biologics and small molecule inhibitors in development hold promises for more effective and safer therapeutic approaches for AD. A better understanding of individual differences amongst AD patients will allow for a more tailored approach in the future. This review aims to cover the most promising emerging therapies in the field of atopic dermatitis utilizing recently published manuscripts and up-to-date conference abstracts and presentations.
