We provided a meditation training program for psychiatric hospital inpatient clients with alcohol use disorder and tested its efficacy as a treatment modality for mood dysregulation. Participants ...were 31 men who were assigned to experimental or control groups. Those who participated
in the meditation training program for 8 weeks reported a significant decrease in psychosocial stress and negative mood states and an increase in positive mood states compared to the control group participants. The results demonstrated that meditation training was beneficial in decreasing
stress and negative mood states and increasing positive mood states in people with alcohol use disorder. More meditation training programs for clients with alcohol use disorder are needed to control their mood dysregulation, which is one of the most important elements of managing negative
mood states.

Stretchable sound-in-displays, which can generate synchronous sound and light directly from the display without a separate speaker, allow immersive audio and visual perception even on curved ...surfaces. In stretchable sound-in-displays, alternating current electroluminescent (ACEL) devices have been used as light-emitting sources owing to their high brightness and stability. However, stretchable ACEL devices that use low dielectric constant (κ) materials require a high operating voltage for generating light and sound. Herein, we demonstrate a stretchable ACEL loudspeaker with a low operating voltage using stretchable high-κ dielectrics and strain-insensitive electrodes. Our device exhibits 87.7 cd/m2 of luminance and 79.70 dB of sound pressure level at an operating voltage of 120 V and 10 kHz. As the next platform of wearable devices, the suggested ACEL loudspeaker exhibits high-quality synchronous light and sound generation performance even under various types of mechanical deformation, such as finger flexion and wrist bending.
Ovarian cancer has a clear predilection for metastasis to the omentum, but the underlying mechanisms involved in ovarian cancer spread are not well understood. Here, we used a parabiosis model that ...demonstrates preferential hematogenous metastasis of ovarian cancer to the omentum. Our studies revealed that the ErbB3-neuregulin 1 (NRG1) axis is a dominant pathway responsible for hematogenous omental metastasis. Elevated levels of ErbB3 in ovarian cancer cells and NRG1 in the omentum allowed for tumor cell localization and growth in the omentum. Depletion of ErbB3 in ovarian cancer impaired omental metastasis. Our results highlight hematogenous metastasis as an important mode of ovarian cancer metastasis. These findings have implications for designing alternative strategies aimed at preventing and treating ovarian cancer metastasis.

•Epithelial ovarian cancer metastasizes to the omentum hematogenously•Elevated levels of NRG1 in the omentum promote the homing of ovarian cancer cells•ErbB3-expressing CTCs foster hematogenous metastases•ErbB3 knockdown inhibits ovarian cancer metastasis
Using a parabiosis model, Pradeep et al. find that ovarian cancer cells metastasize to the omentum most often via the blood. They show that hematogenous metastasis is dependent on an activated neuregulin 1-ErbB3 pathway, which supports localization to and growth in the omentum, suggesting ErbB3 as a therapeutic target.
The objective of our study was to compare the sensitivity of a deep learning (DL) algorithm with the assessments by radiologists in diagnosing osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) using digital ...radiography.
We performed a two-center, retrospective, noninferiority study of consecutive patients (≥ 16 years old) with a diagnosis of ONFH based on MR images. We investigated the following four datasets of unilaterally cropped hip anteroposterior radiographs: training (
= 1346), internal validation (
= 148), temporal external test (
= 148), and geographic external test (
= 250). Diagnostic performance was measured for a DL algorithm, a less experienced radiologist, and an experienced radiologist. Noninferiority analyses for sensitivity were performed for the DL algorithm and both radiologists. Subgroup analysis for precollapse and postcollapse ONFH was done.
Overall, 1892 hips (1037 diseased and 855 normal) were included. Sensitivity and specificity for the temporal external test set were 84.8% and 91.3% for the DL algorithm, 77.6% and 100.0% for the less experienced radiologist, and 82.4% and 100.0% for the experienced radiologist. Sensitivity and specificity for the geographic external test set were 75.2% and 97.2% for the DL algorithm, 77.6% and 75.0% for the less experienced radiologist, and 78.0% and 86.1% for the experienced radiologist. The sensitivity of the DL algorithm was noninferior to that of the assessments by both radiologists. The DL algorithm was more sensitive for precollapse ONFH than the assessment by the less experienced radiologist in the temporal external test set (75.9% vs 57.4%; 95% CI of the difference, 4.5-32.8%).
The sensitivity of the DL algorithm for diagnosing ONFH using digital radiography was noninferior to that of both less experienced and experienced radiologist assessments.
Mealtime changes in pregnant mice revealed impaired neurobehavioral development in mouse offspring. This study is the basis for investigating diseases associated with neurobehavioral development of ...adult offspring of pregnant shift-working women.
Most organisms on Earth have a biological clock, and their physiological processes are regulated by a 1-day cycle. In modern society, several factors can disturb these biological clocks in humans; in particular, individuals working in shifts are exposed to stark environmental changes that interfere with their biological clock. They have a high risk of various diseases. However, there are scarce experimental approaches to address the reproductive and health consequences of shift work in the offspring of exposed individuals. In this study, considering the fact that shift workers usually have their meals during their adjusted working time, we aimed to examine the effects of a 12-h shift with usual mealtime as a plausible night work model on the neurobehavioral development of adult mouse offspring. In these offspring, early exposure to this mealtime shift differentially affected circadian rhythmic variables and total locomotor activity depending on the timing and duration of restrictive feeding. Moreover, neurobehavioral alterations such as declined short-term memory and depressive-like behavior were observed in adulthood. These results have implications for the health concerns of shift-working women and their children.
The prevalence of periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) has increased with the increasing incidence of arthroplasty surgery. Considering identification of causative microorganisms is crucial for ...treatment of PJI, culture-negative (CN) PJI is a significant clinical issue. The purpose of the present study is to describe epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of CN PJI based on review of the literature to help prevent delayed diagnosis and improve clinical outcomes of CN PJI.
MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Scopus databases were searched for articles on CN PJI. Only clinical studies written in English were included. Basic science studies, letters to the editor, case reports and review articles on PJI were excluded.
Seven studies were included in this study. The prevalence of CN PJI ranged from 0% to 42.1%. The major risk factors for CN PJI were prior antibiotic use and presence of postoperative wound drainage. Vancomycin and cephalosporins were the most commonly used antibiotics for CN PJI. Two-stage revision arthroplasty followed by 6 weeks of antibiotic therapy produced the most successful treatment outcomes.
In most clinical studies on CN PJI, a definite diagnostic method for identifying causative microorganisms or optimal treatment strategy for CN PJI were not clearly described. Therefore, further studies are needed to establish standard diagnostic methods for identifying infecting organisms and treatment strategies for CN PJI.
The perovskite cesium lead bromide (CsPbBr 3 ) has emerged as an attractive thermally and chemically robust alternative to hybrid lead perovskite halides and analogues of this material show excellent ...tunability of exciton binding energies, high absorption cross-sections, and intense photoluminescence. Dimensional reduction, particularly in proximity of the Böhr exciton radius, allows for substantial tunability of the photophysical properties of this material as a result of quantum confinement. The use of surface passivating ligands, particularly alkylammonium cations, has been developed as a means of inducing directional growth and facilitates dimensional confinement of the obtained perovskite nanocrystals. Here, we demonstrate that the crystalline order of the ligand-shell assembly, as dictated by the length of the alkyl chains, the degree of branching, the reaction temperature, and ligand concentration, strongly influences the extent of dimensional confinement attainable for the perovskite nanoplatelets. The spatial extent of the ligand shell and the degree of ordering of ligand molecules greatly impact the diffusion and addition of monomeric species. The interplay between enthalpic stabilization from crystalline packing and entropic loss from loss of configurational degrees of freedom provides substantial opportunity to tune the parameter space as a function of ligand structure and reaction variables. Mechanistic understanding of thermodynamic and kinetic regimes provides a means to rationally optimize synthetic parameters to obtained desired dimensionality and thus allows for control over nanocrystal thickness in precise increments.
The hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) activity of PdRu bimetallic catalysts in acidic media is first investigated by preparing PdRu nanoparticles of various compositions (Pd:Ru atomic ratios of 1:0, ...9:1, 3:1, 1:1, 1:9, 1:20 and 0:1) supported on carbon supports. Pd is under compressive strain when Pd and Ru atoms are alloyed, and PdRu(1:1) forms phase-separated nanoparticles. The crystallite size of PdRu/C can be reduced to ∼4 nm depending on the PdRu composition. While Ru/C shows a slightly faster HOR kinetics than Pd/C, the introduction of Ru to Pd improves the HOR kinetics leading to the highest kinetic current on PdRu9/C. The kinetic current and single-cell performance of PdRu9/C is comparable to those of commercial PtRu/C. First-principle calculations based on density functional theory indicate that the most stable position of the Pd atom is the 1st layer of the surface, which represents the possibility of surface segregation of Pd atoms. The theoretical calculations clearly unravel that the presence of strong electronic effect owing to Ru alloying with Pd, which would correspond to an optimum composition of PdRu9/C in the experiments, demonstrates a superior hydrogen oxidation activity to the other PdRu compositions.

This study aimed to examine the mediating effects of parenting style on the relationship between parental stress and behavioral problems of girls with precocious puberty.
This cross-sectional study ...analyzed a convenience sample of 200 mothers of girls with precocious puberty at a university hospital located in a metropolitan area. The Parental Stress measurement, Parents as Social Context Questionnaire, and Korean version Child Behavior Checklist (K-CBCL) 6-18 were measured via self-report questionnaires. Descriptive, t-test, Pearson correlation, and bootstrapping analyses were used to analyze the data.
Negative parenting styles had a full mediating effect on the relationship between parental stress and internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems.
Care plans for parents of girls with precocious puberty should be designed and applied in health care settings to reduce internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems by decreasing negative parenting styles.
Kyphoplasty (KP) is a surgery used to reduce pain and increase stability by injecting medical bone cement into broken vertebrae. The purpose of this study was to determine the ideal amount of cement ...and injection site by analyzing forces with the finite element method.
We modeled the anatomical structure of the vertebra and injected the cement at T12. By increasing the amount of cement from 1 cc to 22 cc, stress applied to T11 and L1 cortical was calculated. In addition, stress applied to the adjacent KP level was calculated with different injection sites (medial, anterosuperior, posterosuperior, anteroinferior, and posteroinferior). After 5 cc cement was inserted, adjacent end plate stress was analyzed.
In this study, break point adjacent bone stress according to the capacity of cement was bimodal. Flexion/extension and lateral bending conditions showed similar break points (11.5–11.7 cc and 18.5–18.6 cc, respectively). When cement injection was changed, front under and back under had the highest stress values among various parts, whereas the center position showed the lowest stress value.
With increasing amount of bone cement, stress on the upper and lower end plates of the cemented segment increased significantly. Thus, increasing cement amount to be more than 11.5 cc has a potential risk of adjacent fracture. Centrally injected bone cement can lower the risk of adjacent fracture after percutaneous KP.
