Tests of the T, CP and CPT symmetries in the neutral kaon system are performed by the direct comparison of the probabilities of a kaon transition process to its symmetry-conjugate. The exchange of in ...and out states required for a genuine test involving an antiunitary transformation implied by time-reversal is implemented exploiting the entanglement of K0K‾0 pairs produced at a ϕ-factory.
A data sample collected by the KLOE experiment at DAΦNE corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 1.7 fb−1 is analysed to study the Δt distributions of the ϕ→KSKL→π+π−π±e∓ν and ϕ→KSKL→π±e∓ν3π0 processes, with Δt the difference of the kaon decay times. A comparison of the measured Δt distributions in the asymptotic region Δt≫τS allows to test for the first time T and CPT symmetries in kaon transitions with a precision of few percent, and to observe CP violation with this novel method.

The KLOE-2 experiment started its data taking campaign in November 2014 with an upgraded tracking system including an Inner Tracker built with the cylindrical GEM technology, to operate together with ...the Drift Chamber improving the apparatus tracking performance. The Inner Tracker is composed of four cylindrical triple-GEM, each provided with an X–V strips-pads stereo readout and equipped with the GASTONE ASIC developed inside the KLOE-2 collaboration. Although GEM detectors are already used in high energy physics experiment, this device is considered a frontier detector due to its cylindrical geometry: KLOE-2 is the first experiment to use this novel solution. The results of the detector commissioning, detection efficiency evaluation, calibration studies and alignment, both with dedicated cosmic-ray muon and Bhabha scattering events, will be reported.
The performance of the muon identification in LHCb is extracted from data using muons and hadrons produced in J/psi arrow right mu super(+) mu super(-) , Lambda super(0) arrow right ppi super(-) and ...D* super(+) arrow right pi super(+)D super(0)(K super(-)pi super(+)) decays. The muon identification procedure is based on the pattern of hits in the muon chambers. A momentum dependent binary requirement is used to reduce the probability of hadrons to be misidentified as muons to the level of 1%, keeping the muon efficiency in the range of 95-98%. As further refinement, a likelihood is built for the muon and non-muon hypotheses. Adding a requirement on this likelihood that provides a total muon efficiency at the level of 93%, the hadron misidentification probabilities are below 0.6%.
Personnel Safety System for particle accelerator facility involves different devices to monitor gates, shielding doors, dosimetry stations, search and emergency buttons. In order to achieve the ...proper reliability, fail-safe and fail-proof capabilities, these systems are developed compliant with safety standards (like the IEC-61508 on "Functional Safety", ANSI N43.1 "Radiation Safety for the design and operation of Particle Accelerator" and NCRP report 88) involving stable technologies like electro-mechanical relays and, recently, PLC. As part of the Singularity project at Frascati National Laboratories of INFN, this work will report benchmark of a new FPGA-based system from the design to the validation phase of the prototype currently operating as personnel safety system at the Beam Test Facility (BTF) of Dafne facility. This novel instrument is capable of: devices monitoring in real-time at 1 kHz, dual modular redundancy, fail-safe and fail-proof, multi-node distributed solution on optical link, radiation damage resistance and compliant with IEC-61508, ANSI N43.1 and NCRP report 88. The aim of this FPGA-based system is to illustrate the feasibility of FPGA technology in the field of personnel safety for particle accelerator in order to take advantage of a fully digital system integrated with facility control system, evaluate the related reliability and availability and realize a standard, scalable and exible hardware solution also for other fields with similar requirements like machine protection systems.
Abstract
The light yield, the time resolution and the efficiency of
different types of scintillating tiles with direct Silicon
Photomultiplier readout and instrumented with a customised front-end
...electronics have been measured at the Beam Test Facility of
Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati and several test stands. The
results obtained on minimum ionising particles with different
detector configurations are presented. A time resolution of the
order of 300 ps, a light yield of more than 230 photo-electrons, and
an efficiency better than 99.8% are obtained with
∼ 225 cm

large area tiles. This technology is suitable
for a wide range of applications in high-energy physics, in
particular for large area muon and timing detectors.

The upgrade of the DaΦne machine layout requires a modification of the size and position of the inner focusing quadrupoles of KLOE-2, thus asking for the realization of two new calorimeters, named ...QCALT, covering this area. To improve the reconstruction of KL→2π0 events with photons hitting the quadrupoles, a calorimeter with high efficiency to low energy photons (20–300MeV), time resolution of less than 1ns and space resolution of few cm, is needed. To match these requirements we are now constructing a scintillator tile calorimeter where each single tile is readout by mean of SiPM for a total granularity of 1760 channels. We show the design of the different calorimeter components and the present status of the construction.
