Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT), also known as inflammatory pseudotumor, plasma cell granuloma or inflammatory myofibroblastoma, is characterized histopathologically by myofibroblastic ...spindle cells with inflammatory cell infiltrates ( plasma cell, lymphocytes and eosinophils). Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is tipically seen in children or young adults and is most commonly localized in the lung, but it can occur anywhere in the body.
We present a case in a young woman with severe acute G.I. bleeding, an uncommon presentation of IMT in adults. The patient was admitted to the emergency department for melena. MRI showed a distal jejunum hypervascular mass. Other exams were negative. Surgical excision was recommended, so the patient underwent surgery with complete removal of the tumoral mass. No adjuvant therapy was employed and the patient is asymptomatic after 6 months of follow-up.
IMT is an rare lesion that mimics malignancy and is accompanied by various clinical manifestations. The treatment of choice is believed to be complete surgical excision and long term follow up.

To define the indications, technical limitations and diagnostic yeld of small bowel transbuccal enema in the follow-up of surgical jejunoileal shunting in patients with complicated severe essential ...obesity.
Three patients were submitted to surgical diversion: two of them underwent an intestinal bypass after Payne-De Wind (isoperistaltic end-to-side jejunoileostomy) and the other after Scott (end-to-end jejunoileostomy). The latter refers to intestinal recanalization and antiperistaltic lower end-to-side gastroenteric restoration.
Radiologic studies are the only means to depict the surgical small bowel. Radiographic follow-up needs barium sulfate administration and therefore cannot be performed any sooner than 30 days postoperatively. In the last three years the classic transbuccal enema has been performed with a Rollandi tube (with a terminal opening and a balloon). Both the anastomosis and the blind loop are difficult to demonstrate.
Jejunoileal bypass can be used to treat severe obsity uncontrollable otherwise, to reduce food absorption. Different severe complications may result and small bowel studies may permit to show late local complications. Small bowel enema is also indispensable in bypass reversal. There are no alternatives to this radiologic examination which is however very difficult to perform, because of the changes made by previous operation(s), and to interpret because the anastomosis, the sutured loop and wall changes are often poorly demonstrated.
Customized network-oriented communication architectures have recently become a must to support high bandwidth SoCs. To this end, a corresponding communication design flow is necessary to support the ...design space exploration of complex SoCs with tight design constraints. In order to exploit the benefits introduced by the NoC approach for the on-chip communication, the paper presents a Pareto Simulated Annealing (PSA) approach for the customization of the network topology. The proposed PSA approach has been applied to STNoC, the Network on-Chip developed by STMicroelectronics. Starting from the ring topology, the proposed application-specific design flow tries to find a set of customized topologies (optimized in terms of performance and area/energy overhead) by adding custom links up to the spidergon topology.
Application-specific network-oriented communication architectures have recently become an effective solution to support high bandwidth Systems on-Chip. The Network on-Chip architectures considered so ...far range from regular to fully customized topologies for application-specific designs requiring high-level bandwidth. To this end, a network-centric design flow is necessary to support the design space exploration of complex SoCs with tight design constraints. This paper introduces four different approaches based on the orthogonalization of core mapping and topology customization applied to STNoC, the Network on-Chip developed by STMicroelecronics. The four methods are derived from the combination of the initial mappings to two standard topologies (ring and spidergon) with two types of topology customization based on the insertion of cross-links to reduce the network distance of standard topologies.
