with low potentials (ca. 1.35 V
), but the catalyst's durability is insufficient. Here we show that Na doping enhances both activity and durability in acid media. DFT reveals that whereas SrRuO
binds reaction intermediates too strongly, Na doping of ~0.125 leads to nearly optimal OER activity. Na doping increases the oxidation state of Ru, thereby displacing positively O p-band and Ru d-band centers, weakening Ru-adsorbate bonds. The enhanced durability of Na-doped perovskites is concomitant with the stabilization of Ru centers with slightly higher oxidation states, higher dissolution potentials, lower surface energy and less distorted RuO
octahedra. These results illustrate how high OER activity and durability can be simultaneously engineered by chemical doping of perovskites.
Abstract

To identify regulatory regions in the parasite genome, we performed genome-wide profiling of chromatin accessibility in two culture-adapted isogenic subclones at four developmental stages during the intraerythrocytic cycle by using the Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin by sequencing (ATAC-seq). Tn5 transposase hypersensitivity sites (THSSs) localize preferentially at transcriptional start sites (TSSs). Chromatin accessibility by ATAC-seq is predictive of active transcription and of the levels of histone marks H3K9ac and H3K4me3. Our assay allows the identification of novel regulatory regions including TSS and enhancer-like elements. We show that the dynamics in the accessible chromatin profile matches temporal transcription during development. Motif analysis of stage-specific ATAC-seq sites predicts the in vivo binding sites and function of multiple ApiAP2 transcription factors. At last, the alternative expression states of some clonally variant genes (CVGs), including eba, phist, var and clag genes, associate with a differential ATAC-seq signal at their promoters. Altogether, this study identifies genome-wide regulatory regions likely to play an essential function in the developmental transitions and in CVG expression in P. falciparum.
Purpose
Pulmonary vein (PV) isolation (PVI) by point-by-point radiofrequency application (PPRF) results in longer procedures than that achieved by single-shot ablation techniques. In addition, it is ...associated with significant risk of oesophageal injury. The POWER-FAST pilot study evaluated the feasibility and safety of PVI by high-power short-duration (HPSD) PPRF.
Methods
HPSD PPRF around the PVs was done in 48 consecutive patients with atrial fibrillation. Fifty watts was delivered until a predefined lesion index value was reached (LSI ≥ 5 or Abl-I ≥ 350) and 60 W during 7–10 s in the first 18 and last 30 patients, respectively. A control group of 47 consecutive patients who had undergone PVI before the HPSD group with conventional PPRF (30 W for 30 s) was included for reference. Echocardiography and oesophageal endoscopy was performed shortly after ablation in all patients.
Results
PVI of all targeted veins was achieved in 98% and 100% of patients of the conventional and HPSD groups, respectively (

= 0.59). Total radiofrequency time was 34 ± 11, 24 ± 8, and 15 ± 5 min in groups 30 W, 50 W, and 60 W (
p
< 0.001). Audible steam pops occurred in 4 out of 48 (8%) patients in the HPSD group, accounting for 4 (0.08%) out of 5 269 HPSD radiofrequency applications. No patient in the HPSD group developed pericardial effusion. The incidence of oesophageal lesions was 28%, 22%, and 0% in groups 30 W, 50 W, and 60 W, respectively (

Conclusions
PVI can be achieved with HPSD PPRF in most patients. This approach appears safe and associated with low risk of esophageal damage.
The objective of this paper is to analyse how the job‐related diversity in academic research teams influences their scientific performance. To achieve that objective, an empirical study of a ...university's research teams was carried out during the years 2006–2009. The results reflect a non‐significant effect of functional diversity on research teams' performance, whereas status diversity affects in a positive and significant way. However, educational diversity has a significant negative impact when a certain threshold is exceeded. The effect of institutional diversity presents an inverted U‐shaped relation with the number of published articles by the research teams. The results reveal that the relationship between diversity and research performance may not be a simple and direct one because its effect could depend on the organisational context and the type of diversity attributes.
This paper focuses on the effect of the drill geometry on the drilling of woven Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer composite (CFRPs). Although different geometrical effects can be considered in drilling ...CFRPs, the present work focuses on the influence of point angle and wear because they are the important factors influencing hole quality and machining forces. Surface quality was evaluated in terms of delamination and superficial defects. Three different point angles were tested representative of the geometries commonly used in the industry. Two wear modes were considered, being representative of the wear patterns commonly observed when drilling CFRPs: flank wear and honed cutting edge. It was found that the crossed influence of the point angle and wear were significant to the thrust force. Delamination at the hole entry and exit showed opposite trends with the change of geometry. Also, cutting parameters were checked showing the feed's dominant influence on surface damage.
After the first wave of COVID-19, the Spanish Society of Thoracic Surgeons (SECT) surveyed its members to assess the impact of the pandemic on thoracic oncology surgery in Spain. In May 2020, all ...SECT members were invited to complete an online, 40-item, multiple choice questionnaire. The questionnaire was developed by the SECT Scientific Committee and sent via email. The overall response rate was 19.2%. The respondents answered at least 91.5% of the items, with only one exception (a question about residents). Most respondents (89.3%) worked in public hospitals. The reported impact of the pandemic on routine clinical activity was considered extreme or severe by 75.5% of respondents (25.5% and 50%, respectively). Multidisciplinary tumour boards were held either with fewer members attending or through electronic platforms (44.6% and 35.9%, respectively). Surgical activity decreased by 95.7%, with 41.5% of centers performing surgery only on oncological patients and 11.7% only in emergencies. Nearly 60% of respondents reported modifying standard protocols for early-stage cancer and in the preoperative workup. Most centers (≈80%) reported using full personal protective equipment when operating on COVID-19 positive patients. The COVID-19 pandemic severely affected thoracic oncology surgery in Spain. The lack of common protocols led to a variable care delivery to lung cancer patients.
Crystalline molecular sieves with large pores and high adsorption capacities have many potential applications. Of these materials, zeolites are of particular interest owing to their stability in a ...wide range of experimental conditions. An aluminophosphate with very large circular channels5 containing 18 oxygen atoms (18-ring channels) has been synthesized, but in the search for large-pore zeolites, most of the materials which have been synthesized up to now contain only 14-ring channels; the synthesis of zeolites with larger ring structures has been believed to be hindered by the low Si-O-Si bond angles available. A silicogaloaluminate (ECR-34) with unidirectional 18-ring channels was recently reported, but exhibited low micropore volume, thus rendering the material less attractive for catalytic applications. Here we report the structure and catalytic activity of the silicogermanate zeolite ITQ-33; this material exhibits straight large pore channels with circular openings of 18-rings along the c axis interconnected by a bidirectional system of 10-ring channels, yielding a structure with very large micropore volume. The conditions for synthesis are easily accessible, but are not typical, and were identified using high-throughput techniques.

This study explores the operational implications and safety considerations of using non-primary fuels—AVGAS, MOGAS, and F76 Dieso—in military transport aircraft, against the backdrop of standard ...aviation fuels. Through an analysis of fuel properties such as vapor pressure, density, viscosity, freeze temperature, water solubility, and thermal conductivity, this work outlines the operational envelopes for the mentioned non-primary fuels, highlighting the temperature and altitude limitations inherent to their use. The evaluation underscores the necessity of relevant testing, certification, and adherence to operational guidelines and constrains to ensure aircraft safety and reliability when standard fuels are unavailable, and hence, non-primary fuels may be required in special missions under emergency. Key findings include the specific altitude and temperature limitations for AVGAS and MOGAS to prevent fuel freezing and boiling, as well as the operational challenges posed by F76 Dieso due to its higher density and viscosity. The study also addresses the importance of managing water content in the fuel system, the flammability range of the non-primary fuels, and the considerations for fuel mixing to maintain aircraft performance and safety standards. This analysis aims to enhance the understanding of non-primary fuel usage in military transport aircraft, providing insights for system design, performance assessment, and the development of operational procedures to support military aviation in diverse operational scenarios.
