During its four years of photometric observations, the Kepler space telescope detected thousands of exoplanets and exoplanet candidates. One of Kepler's greatest heritages has been the confirmation ...and characterization of hundreds of multi-planet systems via Transit Timing Variations (TTVs). However, there are many interesting candidate systems displaying TTVs on such long time scales that the existing Kepler observations are of insufficient length to confirm and characterize them by means of this technique. To continue with Kepler's unique work we have organized the "Kepler Object of Interest Network" (KOINet). The goals of KOINet are, among others, to complete the TTV curves of systems where Kepler did not cover the interaction timescales well. KOINet has been operational since March, 2014. Here we show some promising first results obtained from analyzing seven primary transits of KOI-0410.01, KOI-0525.01, KOI-0760.01, and KOI-0902.01 in addition to Kepler data, acquired during the first and second observing seasons of KOINet. While carefully choosing the targets we set demanding constraints about timing precision (at least 1 minute) and photometric precision (as good as 1 part per thousand) that were achieved by means of our observing strategies and data analysis techniques. For KOI-0410.01, new transit data revealed a turn-over of its TTVs. We carried out an in-depth study of the system, that is identified in the NASA's Data Validation Report as false positive. Among others, we investigated a gravitationally-bound hierarchical triple star system, and a planet-star system. While the simultaneous transit fitting of ground and space-based data allowed for a planet solution, we could not fully reject the three-star scenario. New data, already scheduled in the upcoming 2018 observing season, will set tighter constraints on the nature of the system.
We perform a comprehensive study of the total mass distribution of the galaxy cluster RXCJ2248 (\(z=0.348\)) with a set of high-precision strong lensing models, which take advantage of extensive ...spectroscopic information on many multiply lensed systems. In the effort to understand and quantify inherent systematics in parametric strong lensing modelling, we explore a collection of 22 models where we use different samples of multiple image families, parametrizations of the mass distribution and cosmological parameters. As input information for the strong lensing models, we use the CLASH HST imaging data and spectroscopic follow-up observations, carried out with the VIMOS and MUSE spectrographs, to identify bona-fide multiple images. A total of 16 background sources, over the redshift range \(1.0-6.1\), are multiply lensed into 47 images, 24 of which are spectroscopically confirmed and belong to 10 individual sources. The cluster total mass distribution and underlying cosmology in the models are optimized by matching the observed positions of the multiple images on the lens plane. We show that with a careful selection of a sample of spectroscopically confirmed multiple images, the best-fit model reproduces their observed positions with a rms of \(0.3\) in a fixed flat \(\Lambda\)CDM cosmology, whereas the lack of spectroscopic information lead to biases in the values of the model parameters. Allowing cosmological parameters to vary together with the cluster parameters, we find (at \(68\%\) confidence level) \(\Omega_m=0.25^{+0.13}_{-0.16}\) and \(w=-1.07^{+0.16}_{-0.42}\) for a flat \(\Lambda\)CDM model, and \(\Omega_m=0.31^{+0.12}_{-0.13}\) and \(\Omega_\Lambda=0.38^{+0.38}_{-0.27}\) for a universe with \(w=-1\) and free curvature. Using toy models mimicking the overall configuration of RXCJ2248, we estimate the impact of the line of sight mass structure on the positional rms to be \(0.3\pm 0.1\).(ABRIDGED)
Objetivo Los desordenes musculo esqueleticos y especialmente el sindrome del conducto carpiano es uno de los problemas de salud publica mas importantes de los ultimos anos. Es la mayor causa de ...morbilidad profesional en Colombia, y uno de los ambitos laborales con mayor incidencia es el sector floricultor. El estudio se propuso establecer si la fuerza de aprehension en el corte de flores se ve afectada por la altura del corte y la postura del brazo. Metodo Participaron 12 operarias y se utilizo un arreglo factorial 2x2 con la altura de corte y postura en pronacion o supinacion del antebrazo como los factores que influyen en la fuerza de aprehension. Resultados El analisis estadistico muestra que no existe interaccion entre los factores, pero si efectos importantes sobre la fuerza de aprehension. La variacion de la flexion del brazo tiene un mayor efecto en comparacion con el cambio de la postura del antebrazo (pronacion o supinacion). Conclusiones La postura ideal para realizar la tarea de corte es la pronacion debido a que el esfuerzo necesario para realizar dicha tarea es menor. Se propone que las investigaciones futuras deben estudiar los efectos de las desviaciones de la muneca en el sector floricultor. It is the leading cause of occupational morbidity in Colombia, the flower industry being one of the areas of work having the highest incidence. This study was thus aimed at ascertaining whether flower-cutters' strength of apprehension has been affected by cutting height and arm posture. Method The study involved 12 operating personnel; a 22 factorial arrangement was used and the effect of cutting height and posture on forearm pronation or supination ans the factors influencing the strength of apprehension. Results Statistical analysis showed no interaction between the factors; however, it did reveal a significant effect on the strength of apprehension. Varying how the arm bent had a greater effect than changing the position of the forearm (pronation or supination). Conclusions Pronation was the ideal flower-cutting posture because it involved less effort to perform such task. Aiming to find a measurement technique that allows studying the seated posture, we conducted the following
systematic review. The search was made in specialized databases in the study area. The key ...words of the search included terms
such as low back pain, sitting posture, pelvic tilt, among others. 2383 items were selected according to the review question
proposed and these 228 from established inclusion criteria. They were found 17 items that allow you to identify the appropriate
techniques for the stance study. The revision allowed proposing a guide for selecting a tool to evaluate the seated posture based on
the benefits offered by the instrument to comply with the objectives of the study that you want to perform.
