Gastroenteritic salmonellosis is still the second cause diagnosed of infectious diarrhea, most of these clinical pictures are mild and self-limited and therefore the use of antibiotics is limited to ...few cases. The aim of the study was to describe the episodes of diarrhea caused by Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica, assessing the suitability of the request and the use of antibiotics according to the criteria included in the methodology.
A retrospective, descriptive, observational study was conducted, collecting data from the clinical history.
A total of 122 episodes were included. The reason for consultation was diarrhea, which generated a greater demand in the Hospital Emergency Services (42.6%). The most frequent serotypes isolated were Enteritidis (53.3%), and Typhimurium (40.2%). The adequate request of the stool was 90.2%. Antibiotic was prescribed in 64.6% (79) of the episodes, most patients under 65 years (58 episodes), the average age was 48.43 years. They were treated mainly with ciprofloxacin and azithromycin, in 57 and 14 episodes, respectively. The average duration of antibiotic treatment was 6 days. There was an adequate use of antibiotics in 49.1% of episodes. When the origin of the request was the Hospital Emergency Service, it was inadequate in 63.5% (33) of them. It was inadequate in 60.0% (39) of episodes when ser. Enteritidis was isolated. Almost half, 48.85% (42) of the 58 episodes in which antibiotics were prescribed among those under 65 (86), were treated without being indicated.
Training actions should be implemented focused on optimizing the management of antibiotics in this entity.
The Pyrenees, located in the transition zone of Atlantic and Mediterranean climates, constitute a paradigmatic example of mountains undergoing rapid changes in environmental conditions, with ...potential impact on the availability of water resources, mainly for downstream populations. High-resolution probabilistic climate change projections for precipitation
and temperature are a crucial element for stakeholders to make well-informed decisions on adaptation to new climate conditions. In this line, we have generated high–resolution climate projections for 21st century by applying two statistical downscaling methods (regression for max and min temperatures, and analogue for precipitation) over the Pyrenees region in the frame of the CLIMPY project over a new high-resolution (5 km × 5 km) observational grid using 24 climate models from CMIP5. The application of statistical downscaling to such a high resolution observational grid instead of station data partially circumvent the problems associated to the non-uniform distribution of observational in situ data. This new high resolution projections database based on statistical algorithms complements the widely used EUROCORDEX data based on dynamical downscaling and allows to identify features that are dependent on the particular downscaling method. In our analysis, we not only focus on maximum and minimum temperatures and
precipitation changes but also on changes in some relevant extreme indexes,
being 1986–2005 the reference period. Although climate models predict a
general increase in temperature extremes for the end of the 21st century,
the exact spatial distribution of changes in temperature and much more in
precipitation remains uncertain as they are strongly model dependent. Besides, for precipitation, the uncertainty associated to models can mask
– depending on the zones- the signal of change. However, the large number
of downscaled models and the high resolution of the used grid allow us to
provide differential information at least at massif level. The impact of the RCP becomes significant for the second half of the 21st century, with
changes – differentiated by massifs – of extreme temperatures and analysed associated extreme indexes for RCP8.5 at the end of the century.
The aim of the present study was to analyse the effects of playing two badminton matches on the same day on the shoulder profile (i.e., range of motion (ROM) and strength) of young badminton players.
...Cross-sectional study.
Indoor sports facility.
Thirty-one elite junior badminton players (age 16.6 ± 1.0 years, body mass 63.9 ± 6.1 kg, height 174.8 ± 6.1 cm), including 19 boys and 12 girls.
Shoulder passive internal rotation (IR) and external rotation (ER) ROM as well as shoulder IR/ER maximal isometric strength were measured before and after a competition including two competitive matches.
Significant decreases (p < 0.05) were found in the shoulder ROM (i.e., dominant and non-dominant ER ROMs as well as in the dominant and non-dominant total arc of motion TAM) in boys, while in girls, significant increases (p < 0.05) were found in the non-dominant ER absolute strength, with significant decreases were found in the non-dominant ER ROM and the non-dominant TAM.
Playing two badminton matches on the same day led to gender-specific changes on the shoulder profile (i.e., ROM and strength) of young elite badminton players, with more impact on the shoulder profile of boys compared to girls.
•Playing two badminton matches on the same day led to gender-specific changes on the shoulder profile (i.e., ROM and strength) of badminton players.•Monitoring changes in the shoulder profile is recommended in order to avoid possible injuries.•While players are in competition, they are encouraged to restore their normal shoulder ROMs and strength levels with proper recovery techniques.

The current situation regarding the system of methodological work motivated the researchers to carry out the investigation as an approach to increase the preparation of novel professors for the universalization of Dentistry Studies. A survey was applied as an empirical method to 21 professors, all them having the teaching rank of instructors, representing the 9th municipal venues where the formative process is carried out in municipalities. Among the results obtained it was emphasized that half of those polled considered they have knowledge about the main functions of the academic group, conduct, and subject. A high percent of those polled did not participate in the collective of year or group. A larger group participated in the collective of conduct and subject. The totality did not participate in the scientific methodological conference in their university venues. It was observed a lesser degree of professors participating in the methodological scientific conference. Researchers concluded that: current methodological system of work for Dentistry Studies, as a process to increase the training of novel teaching personnel, was insufficient considering the new contexts of universalization.
This chapter provides an overview of Moroccan Sufism, focusing mainly in modern times. It also provides an overview of the most important Sufi rituals that exist today, including an analysis of the ...widespread practice of trance and a discussion of the modern adaptations of traditional practices. Overall, the chapter provides an overview of the most important elements that have characterised Moroccan Sufism, past and present. In ritual terms, one can also perceive that the participation in the ritual universe of Moroccan Sufism is by no means circumscribed to the adherents of Sufi turuq or of cognate religious organisations. In fact, it is common for “lay” people not to merely assist to these gatherings but to get a fully participatory role on them. The Sufi gift economy has enormously diversified over the last two decades, not only enriching the leaders of certain orders and groups but also favouring the professionalisation of certain Sufi “practices” undertaken by average citizens.
HTT ist ein Protein, das durch seine Verbindung mit mehreren Interaktionspartnern an einer Vielzahl von zellulären Prozessen beteiligt ist. Darüber hinaus verursacht eine Mutation im HTT-Gen eine ...Krankheit, die als Huntington-Krankheit (HD) bezeichnet wird.;
Aufgrund der gerüstbildenden Eigenschaften von HTT wurde eine Vielzahl von Studien durchgeführt, um potenzielle therapeutische Ziele zu identifizieren. Die auf dem Resonanzenergietransfer (RET) basierenden Ansätze sind jedoch im Bereich der Huntington-Krankheit noch nicht vollständig genutzt worden. Daher habe ich versucht, solche Ansätze in Interaktionsstudien mit dem HTT-Exon 1 (HTTexon1) und dem Protein in voller Länge zu bewerten.;
Ich habe eine Benchmarking-Studie mit einem zuvor beschriebenen Huntingtin-interagierenden Protein (HIP) und HTTex1 (Wildtyp und mutiert) unter Verwendung eines BRET-Ansatzes durchgeführt. Meine Studien bestätigten die binäre Interaktion zwischen HTTex1 und sieben Proteinen. Ich habe auch drei Interaktionen mit der mutierten Version von HTTex1 bestätigt. Zusätzlich bewertete ich die Interaktionen durch FRET-Messungen mit Hilfe der Durchflusszytometrie.;
Der zweite Teil dieser Arbeit zielte darauf ab, ein Hochdurchsatz-Screening für den Nachweis von Protein-Protein-Interaktionen (PPIs) mit HTT in voller Länge (FL) unter Verwendung von Biolumineszenz-Resonanz-Energie-Transfer zu etablieren. Auf diese Weise konnte ich die Wechselwirkung zwischen FL HTT und einer Bibliothek von 580 Proteinkinasen bewerten. Schließlich analysierte ich die Spezifität der entdeckten Wechselwirkungen, indem ich die unspezifische Bindung durch Donor-Sättigungstests bewertete.;
HTT is a protein involved in a plethora of cellular processes through its association with several interaction partners. Furthermore, a mutation in the HTT gene, causes a disease denominated Huntington’s disease (HD).;
Due to the scaffolding properties of HTT, a large variety of studies have been performed to identify potential therapeutical targets. However, resonance energy transfer-based (RET) approaches have not been fully exploited in the HD field. Therefore, I aimed to evaluate such approaches in interaction studies using the HTT exon 1 (HTTexon1) as well as the full-length protein.;
I performed a benchmarking study with a previously described huntingtin interacting protein (HIP) and HTTex1 (wild type and mutated) using a BRET approach. My studies confirmed the binary interaction between HTTex1 and seven proteins. I also confirmed three interactions with the mutated version of HTTex1. Additionally, I also evaluated the interactions by measuring FRET using flow cytometry.;
The second part of this work aimed to stablish a high-throughput screening for the detection of protein-protein interactions (PPIs) with full-length (FL) HTT using bioluminescence resonance energy transfer. With this, I was able to evaluate the interaction between FL HTT and a library composed by 580 protein kinases. Finally, I analysed the specificity of the detected interactions by assessing unspecific binding through donor saturation assays.;
In summary my results provide evidence of the potential use of resonance energy transfer approaches to validate HTT interactions. Additionally, a new screening tool is presented to contribute to identify and verify HTT interactors.
