The article analyzes the emerging ecclesiology of Pope Francis that revives the teaching of the Vatican Council II and opens a new phase in the reception of Vatican II’s vision of the Church. The ...introductory part briefly outlines the kerygmatic feature of Pope Francis’s theology, which is in the background of his speech about the Church. The starting point of the second and central part of the article is the phrase “the Church that goes forth”, which represents the hermeneutic key of the Pope’s understanding of the Church. We highlight his reflections about the essence and mission of the Church, such as the missionary transformation of the Church, synodality and polycentric understanding of the Church, Church as a mother and healer, Church and the world. Finally, in the spirit of the Church that goes forth, we elaborate on a ‘Samaritan Church’, a Church as a ‘filed hospital’, characterized by charity, a commitment to the poor, a sense for the periphery and human brotherhood, promoting a culture of encounter and dialogue. The third part of the article focuses on the Pope’s call to holiness and to the realization of Christian spirituality, which internally revives and encourages the missionary transformation of the Church.
Research has shown that Pope Francis aims to restore today’s Church in the spirit of the Second Vatican Council. The doctrinal part of his teaching about the Church comes to life in pastoral practice. Pope Francis advocates the Church as a strong moral authority in society and the world. It is a parricidal Church that decisively bears witness, speaks freely and boldly, opens spaces for encounter and authentic dialogue, and knows how to listen and accept criticism.

In this paper, we start from the statement that today's philosophical discussions on the image of man (anthropology) are strongly influenced by scientific thinking. In recent decades, physicalism prevails in the philosophy of the spirit, which relies on the successes of the modern natural sciences. From this then follows the view that it is necessary to reject some essential aspects of the image of man, especially those concerning man's relation to transcendence, as well as his capacity for ethical action. In today's cultural and scientific context, every trace of what we have called the "soul" for centuries in cultural history, in the history of religions, in philosophy and theology, has been lost. The term "soul" is no longer the subject of study, it is only a rhetorical or poetic figure, a word that is given a mere symbolic value in the list of common pious expressions of religious language.
In the first part of the paper, entitled "The Fate of the Soul in the Age of Science", we will follow the progressive disappearance of the concept of the human soul in philosophy, psychology and neuroscience. Modern sciences prefer to use terms such as: me, consciousness, subjectivity, mind, psyche, brain, spirit, and very rarely "soul". In the second and main part of the paper, entitled "Rethinking the Soul in a Culture Imbued with Scientific Spirit", we will try to point out the need to re-actualize the concept of the soul, in order to overcome the scientific vision of reality and anthropological reductionism. We will first consider the biblical meaning of the word "soul," as well as its function in theological discourse. After that, we will present some current theological attempts to talk about the human soul in the context of today's scientific and philosophical discussions.
The purpose of this contribution consists in one, as far as possible, concise account of the actuality of the forgotten concept of the human soul, as well as an attempt to make this concept understandable to modern man in the context of the natural-scientific picture of the world. The concept of the human soul can still be a "transmitter" of a complete and meaningful vision of the Christian image of man.

U trećem i završnom dijelu rada, polazeći od relacijskog razumijevanja zahtjeva jedinstvenosti i univerzalnosti kršćanske objave, autor donosi neka zapažanja o naravi misijskog naloga Crkve u ozračju religijskog pluralizma i dijaloga.

Nakana nam je prikazati problem ekologije u novoj religioznosti u razmišljanju sociologa religije Željka Mardešića. Polazeći od fenomenološke i antropološke analize svetoga u postmodernitetu, ...Mardešić analizira pojavu nove religioznosti i njezine društvene učinke. U
tom kontekstu panoramski i sintetički obrađuje pojavu ekoloških tema u novim religijskim pokretima: od adventista i apokaliptičkih zajednica, preko skupina Eko života, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesha, Hare Krišna, Sai Babe do francuskih aumista Mandaron i velike duhovne struje New Agea. Mardešić zaključuje kako svako bavljenje društvenim učincima religije mora uključiti i religijsko otkriće ekologije u posmodernitetu.

The article focuses on what might be in the current situation recognized as the task entrusted by God to the Church to carry it out. The topic will be approached in the following way: Starting from the title of the Theological Pastoral Week, The Church in the World of Crises and Human Suffering, which contains the syntagm »in the world of crises« (plural), the first part of the article, titled – ’The Church in the Times of Crises’– analyses some aspects of the crisis of the Western civilization that the Church and Christians encounter today. This part also discusses the Church in terms of its crisis of fundamental meaning/mission and the crisis of practical faith (orthopraxis). The central part of the article, which also somewhat encompasses the second part of the title of the Theological Pastoral Week that refers to »human suffering«, thematizes’Humanity That Is Wounded and in Need of Redemption. The mission and task of the Church is, therefore, discussed in the light of the theological truth that the human being is a being in need of redemption. The category of redemption signifies personal, social‑political, and global salvation. The Church is the universal sacrament of salvation/redemption, not only for Catholics and Christians but for the whole world. In view of the ecclesiology of Pope Francis, the Church is the »Church of exodus«, going forth like a »field hospital« to the periphery of wounded humanity and human existence. The third, final part of the article, titled ’Crisis is an Opportunity for What?’, reflects on ways in which the Church can be a sign and means of God’s salvation in today’s world of crises and human suffering.
poslanje Crkve u suvremenom svijetu. U prvom dijelu rada želimo produbiti biblijsku i kristološku dimenziju shvaćanja siromaštva. Stoga analiziramo evanđeosko
siromaštvo iz perspektive Isusova navještaja kraljevstva Božjega i prakse prve Crkve. U drugome dijelu, u svjetlu koncilske vizije Crkve i katoličkoga socijalnog nauka, nastojimo istaknuti strukturalni značaj ‘opcije za siromašne’ u poslanju Crkve.
The life and mission of the Church in the modern world are guided by the evangelical principle of poverty. In order to faithfully witness Jesus ’message of humane, merciful adjust God, she is called to practice the spirit of poverty and to be the Church of the poor and disempowered.
The first part of the paper clarifies the biblical and Christological dimension of the concept of poverty. Thus, the evangelical poverty is analysed in the context of Jesus ’ proclamation of the kingdom of God, and the practice of the first Church. The second part of the paper highlights the structural significance of ‘option for the poor’, in the mission of the Church, in the light of the Council ’s vision of the Church, and the Catholic social teaching. The basic form of Christian witnessing in this world can be expressed through the Church ’s solidarity with the poor, socially vulnerable, and with all those who are in any way disempowered in the age of globalization and neoliberal capitalism.
U ovom članku analiziramo kratki spis “O smislu potištenosti”
velikog teologa i filozofa Romana Guardinija. Fenomen potištenosti
razotkriva temeljnu čovjekovu životnu situaciju u odnosu prema
...Vječnome i kako ono susreće čovjeka u njegovom konkretnom
postojanju. Naš autor najprije fenomenološki opisuje stanje
potištenosti, a zatim svoje razmišljanje o smislu potištenosti
povezuje uz antropologiju i teologiju.
života i vlastite egzistencije. Spis pokazuje kako je čovjekova
stvorenost razlog potištenosti, ali ujedno i utjeha u potištenosti.
Guardinijeva razmišljanja o potištenosti potvrđuju svevremensku
vrijednost i spasonosnu aktualnost. Njegove riječi o potištenosti
pružaju i danas veliku utjehu i nadu ljudima koji trpe zbog nje.
Autori u radu donose pregled sastavljanja propovijedi prema
homiletici Davida Buttricka. Rad je podijeljen na tri dijela. Prvi
dio opisuje kontekst u kojem djeluje David Buttrick. Njegova
potez. Treći dio donosi kratki sadržaj propovijedi o rasipnom sinu
te deskriptivnu analizu.
How to conceive a fruitful dialogue between Christian theology and psychology? The author is
trying to answer the question from theological point of view. The history of relationship between
theology ...and psychology is evident in a wider context of centuries-old dispute on the relations
between faith and science and on the method of scientific and theological cognition. The work consists of three parts. In the first part the author presents two in principle different possibilities of determining the relationship between theology and psychology, and these are: “the model of exclusiveness”, and “the model of identification”. In the second part of the work the relation between theology and psychology is viewed from the perspective of integral anthropology in which man is observed as a physical-psychicalsocial-spiritual being. The theological anthropology, as different from philosophical, medical or biological anthropology, deals with definite. In the final part, the author counts some challenges of interdisciplinary dialogue between theology and psychology for pastoral work, where each of the two disciplines brings its own praxis into mutual exchange – spiritual charge, i. e. psychotherapy.
