We report the measurement of the inclusive cross sections for e^{+}e^{-}→nOCH (where nOCH denotes non-open charm hadrons) with improved precision at center-of-mass (c.m.) energies from 3.645 to ...3.871 GeV. We observe three resonances: R(3760), R(3780), and R(3810) with significances of 8.1σ, 13.7σ, and 8.8σ, respectively. The R(3810) state is observed for the first time, while the R(3760) and R(3780) states are observed for the first time in the nOCH cross sections. Two sets of resonance parameters describe the energy-dependent line shape of the cross sections well. In set I set II, the R(3810) state has mass (3805.7±1.1±2.7) (3805.7±1.1±2.7) MeV/c^{2}, total width (11.6±2.9±1.9) (11.5±2.8±1.9) MeV, and an electronic width multiplied by the nOCH decay branching fraction of (10.9±3.8±2.5) (11.0±3.4±2.5) eV. In addition, we measure the branching fractions BR(3760)→nOCH=(25.2±16.1±30.4)%(6.4±4.8±7.7)% and BR(3780)→nOCH=(12.3±6.6±8.3)%(10.4±4.8±7.0)% for the first time. The R(3760) state can be interpreted as an open-charm (OC) molecular state, but containing a simple four-quark state component. The R(3810) state can be interpreted as a hadrocharmonium state.
Huanglongbing (HLB) is one of the most destructive diseases of citrus worldwide. The three known causal agents of HLB are species of α-proteobacteria: 'Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus', 'Ca. L. ...africanus', and 'Ca. L. americanus'. Previous studies have found distinct variations in temperature sensitivity and tolerance among these species. Here, we describe the use of controlled heat treatments to cure HLB caused by 'Ca. L. asiaticus', the most prevalent and heat-tolerant species. Using temperature-controlled growth chambers, we evaluated the time duration and temperature required to suppress or eliminate the 'Ca. L. asiaticus' bacterium in citrus, using various temperature treatments for time periods ranging from 2 days to 4 months. Results of quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) after treatment illustrate significant decreases in the 'Ca. L. asiaticus' bacterial titer, combined with healthy vigorous growth by all surviving trees. Repeated qPCR testing confirmed that previously infected, heat-treated plants showed no detectable levels of 'Ca. L. asiaticus', while untreated control plants remained highly infected. Continuous thermal exposure to 40 to 42°C for a minimum of 48 h was sufficient to significantly reduce titer or eliminate 'Ca. L. asiaticus' bacteria entirely in HLB-affected citrus seedlings. This method may be useful for the control of 'Ca. Liberibacter'-infected plants in nursery and greenhouse settings.
Abstract As ubiquitous structures in magnetized fusion plasmas, magnetic islands (MIs) would short-circuit adjacent magnetic flux surfaces and result in a reduced pressure gradient and fluctuations ...inside the island; it is widely accepted that due to the stabilizing of drift wave instability, the turbulence intensity inside MIs is much lower for larger islands. Here, we provide the first observations that strong turbulence could be generated inside a large radiation MI, which is probably driven by the electron temperature dip due to strongly localized impurity radiation. Moreover, the flow velocity inside the MI is strongly correlated with the turbulence intensity, and the impurity concentration rate suddenly increases as the flow velocity reaches a threshold value, strongly suggesting that turbulence and flow inside the island play important roles in trapping heavy impurities and sustaining radiative MIs.
Using a data sample collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring, we observe a new neutral state Z_{c}(3900)^{0} with a significance of 10.4σ. The mass and width are ...measured to be 3894.8±2.3±3.2 MeV/c^{2} and 29.6±8.2±8.2 MeV, respectively, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. The Born cross section for e^{+}e^{-}→π^{0}π^{0}J/ψ and the fraction of it attributable to π^{0}Z_{c}(3900)^{0}→π^{0}π^{0}J/ψ in the range E_{c.m.}=4.19-4.42 GeV are also determined. We interpret this state as the neutral partner of the four-quark candidate Z_{c}(3900)^{±}.
•The shear-banding process in a Zr-based MG composite is observed.•The shear band originates from MG matrix at its interface with the dendrites.•The shear band multiplies in the MG matrix between ...dendrites.•Dendrites change propagation direction of shear bands or terminate it within them.
In-situ quasistatic tension experiments inside scanning electron microscope were performed to study shear-banding behaviors of a Zr-based bulk metallic glass composite with the 50% volume fraction of dendritic phases. It was observed that the shear band initiates at the interface of metallic glass matrix and dendrites, and then propagates in the glass matrix. Dendrites change the propagation direction of shear bands or terminate the shear band within them. Both modes facilitate the multiplication of shear bands in the glass matrix between dendrites. Upon further loading, shear bands preferentially develop into cracks in the matrix, but the dendrites significantly improve the crack resistance. This work provides the first-hand information of shear-banding and failure of the Zr-based metallic glass composite with dendrites.
The quantum entangled J/ψ→Σ^{+}Σover ¯^{-} pairs from (1.0087±0.0044)×10^{10} J/ψ events taken by the BESIII detector are used to study the nonleptonic two-body weak decays Σ^{+}→nπ^{+} and Σover ...¯^{-}→nover ¯π^{-}. The CP-odd weak decay parameters of the decays Σ^{+}→nπ^{+} (α_{+}) and Σover ¯^{-}→nover ¯π^{-} (αover ¯_{-}) are determined to be 0.0481±0.0031_{stat}±0.0019_{syst} and -0.0565±0.0047_{stat}±0.0022_{syst}, respectively. The decay parameter αover ¯_{-} is measured for the first time, and the accuracy of α_{+} is improved by a factor of 4 compared to the previous results. The simultaneously determined decay parameters allow the first precision CP symmetry test for any hyperon decay with a neutron in the final state with the measurement of A_{CP}=(α_{+}+αover ¯_{-})/(α_{+}-αover ¯_{-})=-0.080±0.052_{stat}±0.028_{syst}. Assuming CP conservation, the average decay parameter is determined as ⟨α_{+}⟩=(α_{+}-αover ¯_{-})/2=-0.0506±0.0026_{stat}±0.0019_{syst}, while the ratios α_{+}/α_{0} and αover ¯_{-}/αover ¯_{0} are -0.0490±0.0032_{stat}±0.0021_{syst} and -0.0571±0.0053_{stat}±0.0032_{syst}, where α_{0} and αover ¯_{0} are the decay parameters of the decays Σ^{+}→pπ^{0} and Σover ¯^{-}→pover ¯π^{0}, respectively.
Using (10087±44)×10^{6} J/ψ events collected with the BESIII detector, numerous Ξ^{-} and Λ decay asymmetry parameters are simultaneously determined from the process J/ψ→Ξ^{-}Ξover ...¯^{+}→Λ(pπ^{-})π^{-}Λover ¯(nover ¯π^{0})π^{+} and its charge-conjugate channel. The precisions of α_{Λ0} for Λ→nπ^{0} and αover ¯_{Λ0} for Λover ¯→nover ¯π^{0} compared to world averages are improved by factors of 4 and 1.7, respectively. The ratio of decay asymmetry parameters of Λ→nπ^{0} to that of Λ→pπ^{-}, ⟨α_{Λ0}⟩/⟨α_{Λ-}⟩, is determined to be 0.873±0.012_{-0.010}^{+0.011}, where the first and the second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. The ratio is smaller than unity more than 5σ, which signifies the existence of the ΔI=3/2 transition in Λ for the first time. Besides, we test for CP symmetry in Ξ^{-}→Λπ^{-} and in Λ→nπ^{0} with the best precision to date.
Face-sketch synthesis is important for gaining a clear portrait photo of suspects when solving crimes. Recent research has made a great process in self-attention generative adversarial networks. We ...propose a method of unsupervised learning in the synthesis of face sketch-to-photo using a new attention module. The method of processing on a small reference set of photo-sketch pairs adds to the attention module, a focus on the regions distinguishing photos from sketches on the basis of the feature maps obtained by the auxiliary classifier. Unlike previous attention-based methods, which cannot handle the geometric changes between domains, our model can translate images requiring holistic changes. At the same time, we reduce the layers of the discriminator according to different residual layers to optimize our network. With the proposed approach, we can train our networks using a small reference set of photo-sketch pairs together with a large number of face-photo datasets and more distinguishing facial-feature regions in the self-attention model. Experiments have shown the superiority of the proposed method to existing face sketch-to-photo synthesis models using fixed network architectures and hyper-parameters.
•Unsupervised self-attention lightweight photo-to-sketch synthesis method with Feature Maps is presented.•The self-attention module is added to the generative adversarial network to capture facial textures.•Leading accuracy rates and high average speed are achieved on multiple databases based on proposed method.
Based on data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, the process e^{+}e^{-}→Σ^{+}Σover ¯^{-} is studied at center-of-mass energies sqrts=2.3960, 2.6454, and 2.9000 GeV. ...Using a fully differential angular description of the final state particles, both the relative magnitude and phase information of the Σ^{+} electromagnetic form factors in the timelike region are extracted. The relative phase between the electric and magnetic form factors is determined to be sinΔΦ=-0.67±0.29(stat)±0.18(syst) at sqrts=2.3960 GeV, ΔΦ=55°±19°(stat)±14°(syst) at sqrts=2.6454 GeV, and 78°±22°(stat)±9°(syst) at sqrts=2.9000 GeV. For the first time, the phase of the hyperon electromagnetic form factors is explored in a wide range of four-momentum transfer. The evolution of the phase along with four-momentum transfer is an important input for understanding its asymptotic behavior and the dynamics of baryons.
Since the last Fusion Energy Conference, significant progress has been made in the following areas. The first high coupling efficiency low-hybrid current drive (LHCD) with a passive-active ...multi-junction (PAM) antenna was successfully demonstrated in the H-mode on the HL-2A tokamak. Double critical impurity gradients of electromagnetic turbulence were observed in H-mode plasmas. Various ELM mitigation techniques have been investigated, including supersonic molecular beam injection (SMBI), impurity seeding, resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) and low-hybrid wave (LHW). The ion internal transport barrier was observed in neutral beam injection (NBI) heated plasmas. Neoclassical tearing modes (NTMs) driven by the transient perturbation of local electron temperature during non-local thermal transport events have been observed, and a new type of non-local transport triggered by the ion fishbone was found. A long-lasting runaway electron plateau was achieved after argon injection and the runaway current was successfully suppressed by SMBI. It was found that low-n Alfvénic ion temperature gradient (AITG) modes can be destabilized in ohmic plasmas, even with weak magnetic shear and low-pressure gradients. For the first time, the synchronization of geodesic acoustic mode (GAM) and magnetic fluctuations was observed in edge plasmas, revealing frequency entrainment and phase lock. The spatiotemporal features of zonal flows were also studied using multi-channel correlation Doppler reflectometers.
