No source code? No problem. With IDA Pro, the interactive disassembler, you live in a source code-optional world. IDA can automatically analyze the millions of opcodes that make up an executable and ...present you with a disassembly. But at that point, your work is just beginning. With The IDA Pro Book, you'll learn how to turn that mountain of mnemonics into something you can actually use. Hailed by the creator of IDA Pro as 'profound, comprehensive, and accurate,' the second edition of The IDA Pro Book covers everything from the very first steps to advanced automation techniques. You'll find complete coverage of IDA's new Qt-based user interface, as well as increased coverage of the IDA debugger, the Bochs debugger, and IDA scripting (especially using IDAPython). But because humans are still smarter than computers, you'll even learn how to use IDA's latest interactive and scriptable interfaces to your advantage. Save time and effort as you learn to: Navigate, comment, and modify disas
Dysfluencies is the first comprehensive study of how speech disorders are portrayed in modern literature. Tracing the roots of this interaction between literary practice and speech pathology back to ...the rise of aphasiology in the 1860s, Dysfluencies examines portrayals of disordered speech by writers like Zola, Proust, Joyce, Melville, and Mishima, as well as contemporary writers like Philip Roth, Gail Jones, and Jonathan Lethem. Dysfluencies thus speaks directly to the growing interest at present, both in popular culture and the Humanities, regarding the status of the Self in relation to speech pathology. The need for this type of study is clear considering the number of prominent writers whose works foreground disorders of speech: Melville, Zola, Kesey, Mishima, Roth, et al. Moreover, thinkers like Freud, Bergson, and Jakobson were similarly concerned with the implications of language breakdown. This volume shows this concern began with the rise of neurology and aphasiology, which challenged spiritual conceptions of language and replaced them with a view of language as a material process rooted in the brain. Dysfluencies traces the history of this interaction between literary practice and speech pathology, arguing that works of literature have responded differently to the issue of language breakdown as the dominant views on the issue have shifted from neurological (circa 1860s to 1920s) to psychological (circa 1920s to 1980s), and back to neurological during the so-called “decade of the Brain“ (the 1990s).
IDA Pro is a commercial disassembler and debugger used by reverse engineers to dissect compiled computer programs, and is the industry standard tool for analysis of hostile code. The IDA Pro Book ...provides a comprehensive, top-down overview of IDA Pro and its use for reverse engineering software. Author Chris Eagle, a recognized expert in the field, takes readers from the basics of disassembly theory to the complexities of using IDA Pro in real-world situations. Topics are introduced in the order most frequently encountered, allowing experienced users to easily jump in at the most appropriate point. Eagle covers a variety of real-world reverse engineering challenges and offers strategies to deal with them, such as disassembly manipulation, graphing, and effective use of cross references. This second edition of The IDA Pro Book has been completely updated and revised to cover the new features and cross-platform interface of IDA Pro 6.0. Other additions include expanded coverage of the IDA Pro Debugger, IDAPython, and the IDA Pro SDK.
Deep in a remote basin of the Grand Canyon, the Havasupai Indian Reservation is one of the most isolated and poorest areas in all of North America. It also contains some of the most beautiful ...waterfalls in the world. With no access road in or out, its 500 residents are still supplied almost entirely by packhorses. This essay chronicles a visit I made there in December 2015, and the serious health and cultural crises I observed during conversations with local tribe members. All the Havasu wanted to learn from me about life “up top” – whether Donald Trump was really running for President, or if that was just “a show.” Back in 1947, the novelist Wallace Stegner visited this very same reservation, and he wrote an article for The Atlantic detailing his impressions titled “Packhorse Paradise.” My own essay “Packhorse Purgatory,” as the title suggests, is partly a response to and an updating of Stegner’s largely outdated and paternalistic impressions.

This article explores factors that influence decision-making by physician leaders, particularly at the executive level. Most physician leaders maintain their clinical practices and some may also have ...active academic careers, resulting in multiple accountabilities. Managing these accountabilities requires expenditure of time and energy. Other members of the executive team may also bear multiple accountabilities, but physicians are unique in the complexity of their work environment. This article is not intended to be an academic treatise but rather a summary of experiences observed and lived by the author over 25 years as a physician leader.

In this paper, an industrial testbed is proposed utilizing commercial-off-the-shelf equipment, and it is used to study the weakness of industrial Ethernet, i.e., PROFINET. The investigation is based ...on observation of the principles of operation of PROFINET and the functionality of industrial control systems.
Evaluation of problem-based learning tutorials with 70 medical students found that, when tutors had expertise in the clinical cases studied, student groups generated twice as many learning issues, ...and issues were three times more congruent with the case objectives. Additionally, groups with expert tutors spent more time overcoming identified learning deficiencies. (Author/DB)
We introduce the notion of relative topological principality for a family \(\{H_\alpha\}\) of open subgroupoids of a Hausdorff étale groupoid \(G\). The C*-algebras \(C^*_r(H_\alpha)\) of the ...groupoids \(H_\alpha\) embed in \( C^*_r(G)\) and we show that if \(G\) is topologically principal relative to \(\{H_\alpha\}\) then a representation of \(C^*_r(G)\) is faithful if and only if its restriction to each of the subalgebras \(C^*_r(H_\alpha)\) is faithful. This variant of the ideal intersection property potentially involves several subalgebras, and gives a new method of verifying injectivity of representations of reduced groupoid C*-algebras. As applications we prove a uniqueness theorem for Toeplitz C*-algebras of left cancellative small categories that generalizes a recent result of Laca and Sehnem for Toeplitz algebras of group-embeddable monoids, and we also discuss and compare concrete examples arising from integer arithmetic.
