The ability to manage effectively the development process for new financial services is becoming increasingly more important as change continues to rule the external environment in which institutions ...must compete. Three analytical approaches are profiled for assessing the criteria that contribute to successful product development practices for financial services. The approaches yielding the most information were factor/discriminant analysis and CART. The Logit approach, while providing strong results, tended to be limited in the information it provided. It is therefore more effective as a supportive technique in this research.
The Mars Orbiter cameras (MOC) on Mars Global Surveyor observed the south polar cap of Mars during its spring recession in 1997. The images acquired by the wide angle cameras reveal a pattern of ...recession that is qualitatively similar to that observed by
Viking in 1977 but that does differ in at least two respects. The 1977 recession in the 0° to 120° longitude sector was accelerated relative to the 1997 observations after
L
S = 240°; the Mountains of Mitchel also detached from the main cap earlier in 1997. Comparison of the MOC images with Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter data shows that the Mountains of Mitchel feature is controlled by local topography. Relatively dark, low albedo regions well within the boundaries of the seasonal cap were observed to have red-to-violet ratios that characterize them as frost units rather than unfrosted or partially frosted ground; this suggests the possibility of regions covered by CO
2 frost having different grain sizes.
Mars Science Laboratory has made measurements that contribute to our assessment of habitability potential at Gale Crater. Campaign organization into a consistent set of measurable parameters allows ...us to rank the relative habitability potential of sites we study, ultimately laying a foundation for a global context inclusive of past and future Mars mission observations. Chemical, physical, geological and geographic attributes shape environments. Isolated measurements of these factors may be insufficient to deem an environment habitable, but the sum of measurements can help predict locations with greater or lesser habitability potential. Metrics for habitability assessment based on field work at sites sharing features analogous to Mars have previously been suggested. Grouping these metrics helps us to develop an index for their application to habitability assessment. The index is comprised of the weighted values for four groups of parameters, the habitability threshold for each is to be determined.

Changes in myocardial oxygen supply were evaluated in 19 patients following coronary by-pass surgery (CBS) for angina pectoris (AP). A symptom limited maximal functional graded exercise test (GXT) ...was performed before and 2-19 (X 7.5) months following CBS. After surgery the patients were urged to resume full activity and were individually managed in a 10-week "at home" exercise program. Increases were demonstrated for predicted oxygen uptake and work load (p less than .002), and rate pressure product (p less than .02) following CBS, suggesting increased myocardial blood flow. Terminal heart rate showed no significant increase. Of 16 patients exhibiting ST segment depression ( greater than or equal to .1 mV) with AP during GXT before surgery, 10 cases experienced total relief of both of these signs after surgery. A correlation between the pre-operative number of occluded coronary arteries (greater than 50%) and the degree of exercise induced ST segment depression revealed no significant trend. Additionally, no significant relationship was found between post-operative GXT results and the number of by-pass grafts performed on each patient. This study supports the premise that the effectiveness of CBS, in improving functional capacity, can be objectively evaluated by a non-invasive functional GXT.
Extraformational sediment recycling (old sedimentary rock to new sedimentary rock) is a fundamental aspect of Earth's geological record; tectonism exposes sedimentary rock, whereupon it is weathered ...and eroded to form new sediment that later becomes lithified. On Mars, tectonism has been minor, but two decades of orbiter instrument-based studies show that some sedimentary rocks previously buried to depths of kilometers have been exposed, by erosion, at the surface. Four locations in Gale crater, explored using the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Curiosity rover, exhibit sedimentary lithoclasts in sedimentary rock: At Marias Pass, they are mudstone fragments in sandstone derived from strata below an erosional unconformity; at Bimbe, they are pebble-sized sandstone and, possibly, laminated, intraclast-bearing, chemical (calcium sulfate) sediment fragments in conglomerates; at Cooperstown, they are pebble-sized fragments of sandstone within coarse sandstone; at Dingo Gap, they are cobble-sized, stratified sandstone fragments in conglomerate derived from an immediately underlying sandstone. Mars orbiter images show lithified sediment fans at the termini of canyons that incise sedimentary rock in Gale crater; these, too, consist of recycled, extraformational sediment. The recycled sediments in Gale crater are compositionally immature, indicating the dominance of physical weathering processes during the second known cycle. The observations at Marias Pass indicate that sediment eroded and removed from craters such as Gale crater during the Martian Hesperian Period could have been recycled to form new rock elsewhere. Our results permit prediction that lithified deltaic sediments at the Perseverance (landing in 2021) and Rosalind Franklin (landing in 2023) rover field sites could contain extraformational recycled sediment.
In brief: The authors examined the effects of variations in lead selection and time of monitoring during recovery on the predictive value and sensitivity of exercise testing. Eighty-six patients ...received a standard Bruce protocol exercise test and follow-up angiography. The results showed that 12-lead monitoring for at least six minutes of recovery had more sensitivity for diagnosing coronary artery disease, and the greater the ST-segment depression, the greater the predictive value of the test.
