Leaf beetle specimens (Chrysomelidae) were collected from Dilek Peninsula Büyük Menderes Delta National Park (Aydın) and they were identified at the species level. As a result of the field studies, a ...total of 262 leaf beetles were collected, and 34 species belonging to 8 subfamilies and 26 genera were identified. Sixteen of these species were previously recorded from Aydın province and 18 species are new records for Aydın province. In addition, the host plants and provincial distributions for each species are provided.L
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate utilization, efficacy, and side effects of flecainide treatment as first-line agent in patients with fetal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT).
Method: ...This retrospective review was conducted on 23 consecutive fetal tachyarrhythmia cases that met inclusion criteria. If the treatment was necessary, then flecainide was used as first-line treatment in all cases.
Result: Among the study group, there were 21 (91.3%) cases of SVT and 2 (8.6%) cases of Atrial Flutter (AF). Sixteen fetuses had persistent SVT and five fetuses had intermittent SVT. We treated 17 fetuses with flecainide monotherapy and 15 of them converted to sinus rhythm and remaining two fetuses were refractory to monotherapy. The median time to conversion to sinus rhythm was 3.8 ± 1.6 days. Only one fetus (20%) among the intermittent SVT cases required anti-arrhythmic treatment.
Conclusion: Our study has demonstrated that flecainide is an effective first-line treatment for fetal SVT with high success rate (88.2%), low side effect profile and relatively easy utilization. Based on the current study and recently published article results, flecainide can be recommended as the drug of first choice for treatment of fetal SVT cases.
Objective: Abnormal localization of the placenta with complete or partial closure of the cervix is called placenta previa. Placenta previa occurs in approximately 0.3-0.5% of pregnancies. In this ...study, we aimed to determine the risk factors and adverse fetal outcomes by comparing the neonatal outcomes of patients who underwent cesarean section for placenta previa with those of patients who underwent cesarean section for other indications. Method: Patients with singleton pregnancies diagnosed with placenta previa were retrospectively analyzed. Placenta previa, risk factors, and adverse neonatal outcomes were estimated using multivariate logistic regression models. Results: A total of 61,110 deliveries were analyzed, and 632 deliveries (288 patients, 344 controls) were included in the study. The prevalence of placenta previa was 0.47%. Advanced maternal age odds ratio (OR)=3.03, multigravida (≥5) (OR=2.31), previous abortion (OR=1.58) and curettage (OR=2.32) were significant risk factors for placenta previa. However, these patients had an increased risk of 1st minute Apgar score <7 (OR=1.59) and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission (OR=2.15). At the same time, the risk of Apgar score <7 at 1 min (OR=5.59) and 5 min (OR=3.94) and NICU admission (OR=28.47) increased in infants of patients with placenta previa <34 weeks. Newborns in the >37 weeks gestational age group with placenta previa were more likely to have a lower birth weight (OR=4.21) and an Apgar score <7 at 5 min (OR=1.89). Conclusion: Pregnancies with a diagnosis of placenta previa were associated with an increased risk of serious fetal outcomes compared with cesarean deliveries for all other indications, regardless of delivery timing.

southern European part included) 441, Azerbaijan 373, Armenia 294, Georgia 273,
Syria 254, Cyprus (whole island) 136, Iraq 120 and Moldova 103. As to number of
endemic taxa, Iran and Turkey keep ahead with 103 and 88 endemics respectively.
The closest country is Greece with 32 endemics and Moldova contains no endemic
taxa. However, when we calculate the rate of endemism, Iran is unmatched with
an endemism ratio of 21.50%, followed by Iraq and Turkey having 10.00% and
9.61% endemism ratios respectively. When we consider all countries (except
Russia, because it is partly included in the current study), there is an
insignificant weak correlation between the number of species and the surface
area of selected countries. Normally, under similar biogeographic conditions, a
larger area should include more species, but all countries here are nor similar
in terms of biogeography. In fact, the known species numbers of a region are
also greatly affected by the quantity and quality of relevant research
conducted in that area. Here, the case of Iran (and perhaps some other
countries) is most likely associated with the low number of research on leaf
beetles. When we exclude Iran, there is a moderate positive correlation between
the species numbers and surface area.

benzer değildir. Gerçekte, bir bölgeden kaydedilen tür sayısı, o bölgede
yapılmış araştırmaların sayısı ve niteliği ile de oldukça ilişkilidir. Bu
çalışmada İran’ın (ve belki diğer bazı ülkelerin) durumu yaprak böcekleri
üzerine yapılan çalışmaların azlığıyla ilişkilidir. İran’ı dahil etmediğimizde,
tür sayısı ile yüzölçümü arasında ortalama pozitif bir korelasyon
görülmektedir.
The leaf beetle fauna of Turkey is reviewed and a complete checklist with provincial distributions is presented for the first time. Seven hundred and seventy-six species are catalogued in total. This ...represents approximately 22% of the known Palaearctic leaf beetle fauna. The Turkish leaf beetle fauna is characterized by 81 endemic species. Distributions of the species in Turkey are given based on available literature records. Some new materials from new localities are also examined. Taxa in the list are arranged systematically under family, subfamily, genus, subgenus (when recognized) and species. The subspecies are not included in the list but mentioned in the notes given for certain species. The species whose occurrences in Turkey need conformation are not included in the list but are given separately. Additionally, two new synonymies are stated: Psylliodes diversicolor Nadein 2006 = P . kasnakensis Gök et Aslan, 2007 syn.nov.; Phyllotreta maculicornis Pic, 1906 = Ph. ispartaensis Gök, 2005 syn.nov.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of one abnormal fetus in a twin pregnancy, to compare impact of chorionicity and clinical outcome of intervention and expectant management. ...Thirty-seven dichorionic (DC) twins and 18 monochorionic (MC) twins complicated with one malformed fetus were evaluated for gestational age, birthweight and perinatal outcome. Six hundred and forty-two twin pregnancies were evaluated in the database. The control groups consisted of 429 DC and 86 MC twins without anomalous fetus. Mean birthweight and gestational age at birth for DC control group were (n = 429; 2137g and 34.71 weeks), DC study group, n = 37; 2117g (p = .338) and 33.97 weeks (p = .311), and DC study group with major malformations, n = 30; 2019g (p = .289) and 33.3 weeks (p = .01), and showed only significance for gestational age. There was no statistical significance between MC control group, n = 86; 2097g and 34.93 weeks, and MC study group, n = 18; 2237g (p = .338), and 34.42 weeks (p = .502). Because of limited data, the preliminary evaluation for expectant management and intervention, and survival of at least one normal fetus showed no impact. We conclude that, although, all DC twin pregnancies have a risk for preterm delivery, DC twins complicated with major malformation of one twin, have a lower mean gestational age at birth. Preliminary results for intervention does not improve fetal outcome for DC and MC twins and needs further evaluation with greater studies of impact or review.
Epidermolysis bullosa with pyloric atresia (EB-PA) is a rare autosomal recessive disease that is characterized by fragility of the skin and mucous membranes. The course of EB-PA is usually severe and ...often lethal in the neonatal period. In most cases, prenatal diagnosis of this syndrome is considered in pregnancies at risk for recurrence. EB-PA can be described during pregnancy with sonographic signs such as polyhydramnios with a dilated stomach, the “snowflake sign”, which are echogenic particles in the amniotic fluid, and several other anomalies. In this report, we present three cases of EB-PA suggested by the results of prenatal sonography, and describe a new ultrasonographic sign, i.e., complete chorioamniotic membrane separation, which can be helpful for the diagnosis. The prenatal diagnoses were confirmed postnatally. Two of the three cases had no family history, and one of these two cases was the product of a non-consanguineous couple.
Abstract Objective To evaluate the frequency of dysplasia and other cervical conditions in a population at normal risk, and compare demographic characteristics of the women with normal and abnormal ...results. Methods Characteristics such as gravidity, parity, age at marriage, and smoking status were obtained from a questionnaire completed from January 2004 through July 2005 at Denizli State Hospital, Denizli, Turkey, by the 19 639 participants before they were screened. The results were analyzed. Results The dysplasias detected in 107 smears (0.54%) included ASCUS (0.31%), LSIL (0.15%), and HSIL (0.07%); there were also 1 case of AGUS and 1 of squamous cell carcinoma. Age, age at marriage, number of pregnancies, number of deliveries, and smoking habit were similar for participants with and without dysplasia ( P > 0.05). Bacterial vaginosis was seen in 1633 smears (8.3%), candidiasis in 1346 (6.9%), Actinomyces sp. in 648 (3.3%), and Trichomonas vaginalis in 143 (0.7%). Conclusion Cytologic abnormalities in a cervical smear can point to precancerous or cancerous processes or to other conditions. The prevalence of dysplasia was lower for our participants than in Western populations, which could be explained by a conservative lifestyle and a lower prevalence of HPV in Turkey.
Right atrial appendage aneurysm is a very rare condition which can be asymptomatic or can cause arrhythmia or life-threatening thromboembolism. We report a case of newborn with right atrial appendage ...aneurysm who was diagnosed with fetal echocardiography. Anticoagulant therapy was applied to prevent thromboembolism and he is still going on follow-up without any complaint.
