This study was conducted as part of the project Art of Happiness: Positive Thinking in Preschool and Subjective Well-Being Project, a preventive psycho-educational project. The research was planned ...as an action study, structured with four interrelated studies. The first study was conducted qualitatively with 15 teachers. First, the data regarding the expectations and requirements of teachers were obtained, the evaluation process was conducted, and positive thinking training was tailored for teachers. In the second study, the teacher training process, having been designed in line with the first study was implemented and tested. The study was conducted with a sample group comprising 50 experimental and 50 control groups, while a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed. The third study refers to the planning and designing of the education intended for children in schools for positive thinking and well-being practices. In this context, a focus group discussion was held through the involvement of eight teachers. In the fourth study, the implementation process in schools was evaluated. This study included 80 children aged 5, 40 of whom were in the experimental group and 40 in the control group. The effect of positive thinking education delivered to children was evaluated through the pretest-posttest control group design. Also, the process evaluations of the teachers who educated the children in the experimental group were obtained through interviews. Educational programs for teachers and children were developed and implemented within the scope of the study, and significant findings were obtained for both preschool teachers and children. Besides positive thinking training, research findings indicated that planning the process through the active participation of teachers and their embracing the project contributed significantly to the meaningful learning outcomes.

This study was conducted within the scope of the Positive Schools Project to shed light on teachers' perspectives on reflecting positive thinking in their own branches and practices in the teaching ...environment. Twenty-four teachers who received training within the scope of the project and agreed to participate in the study voluntarily were included in the study. Phenomenology was used as the research design. The content analysis was used to analyze the data obtained through interviews during the research process. Based on the results of the analyses performed, tables describing the themes, sub-themes, and codes were created, and explanations representing the views of the teachers were provided. The findings of the study revealed that teachers from all levels of education, from pre-school to upper secondary school, think that there is a need for activities on positive thinking and that they can transfer the understanding of positive thinking to their branches. When the views of teachers on the need for activities to be developed within the scope of positive thinking for their students were examined, the themes of difficulties in adaptation to school, the trauma process, and the need for effective communication-interaction emerged. Teachers suggested activities for self-awareness, unity awareness, and awareness of contribution within the scope of positive thinking in schools. In addition to the views of teachers on positive thinking, the study points to some negative situations that teachers have observed in their students. These negative situations include dysfunctional self-confidence, dissatisfaction with possessions, non-functional goals or goals for saving the day, and difficulties in purposeful planning.

Background
Although controversial, paradoxical embolism via patent foramen ovale (PFO) may account for some of the migraine attacks in a subset of migraine with aura (MA) patients. Induction of MA ...attacks with air bubble injection during transcranial Doppler ultrasound in MA patients with PFO supports this view. It is likely that cerebral embolism in patients with right‐to‐left shunt induces bioelectrical abnormalities to initiate MA under some conditions.
Methods and Results
We investigated changes in cerebral bioelectrical activity after intravenous microbubble injection in 10 MA patients with large PFO and right‐to‐left cardiac shunt. Eight PFO patients without migraine but with large right‐to‐left shunt and 12 MA patients without PFO served as controls. Four MA patients with PFO were reexamined with sham injections of saline without microbubbles. Bioelectrical activity was evaluated using spectral electroencephalography and, passage of microbubbles through cerebral arteries was monitored with transcranial Doppler ultrasound. Microbubble embolism caused significant electroencephalographic power increase in MA+PFO patients but not in control groups including the sham‐injected MA+PFO patients. Headache developed in 2 MA with PFO patients after microbubble injection.
Conclusions
These findings demonstrate that air microembolism through large PFOs may cause cerebral bioelectrical disturbances and, occasionally, headache in MA patients, which may reflect an increased reactivity of their brain to transient subclinical hypoxia–ischemia, and suggest that paradoxical embolism is not a common cause of migraine but may induce headache in the presence of a large PFO and facilitating conditions.
Postoperative healing after rhinoplasty can have a negative impact on patient quality of life.
In our study, we aimed to reduce postoperative edema and ecchymosis by applying a minidrain system. We ...evaluated this intervention's benefit on postoperative morbidity by observing the patient with left and right sides, intervention side and control side respectively.
All surgeries were performed using a piezo device with an open technique septorhinoplasty. We only used a left-sided minidrain system through the osteotomy lines just in front of the piriform aperture for all patients with no other intervention on the right side of the same patient.
Use of a drain on the left side was associated with a statistically significant decrease in ecchymosis at postoperative day 7 (P<0.05).
We found that using a minidrain system through internal osteotomy lines was effective in reducing the amount of ecchymosis by day seven after surgery.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the effects of nasal functions for the integrity of grafts after myringoplasty. Methods: In our study 78 patients who underwent myringoplasty operation between ...2011-2013 were included. Group I was defined as the group with an intact tympanic membrane following surgery. Group II was defined as the group with a tympanic membrane perforation following surgery. Group I consisted of 44 and Group II consisted of 34 patients. Subjective and objective measurements of nasal functions, Eustachian tube function (ETF), and allergic status were performed using nasal obstruction symptom evaluation (NOSE) scale, visual analog scale (VAS), and the score for allergic rhinitis (SFAR) questionnaires and acoustic rhinometry and saccharin test. It was investigated whether there was any difference between these two groups in terms of these parameters. Results: There was statistically no significant difference between groups according to the age, sex and the presence of tubal dysfunction and allergic rhinitis (p>0.05). In the group of intact tympanic membranes, the likelihood of right ear being the operated one was significantly higher compared to the group of myringoplasty failures (p=0.037). The VAS and NOSE scales did not show any significant difference between groups in terms of successful outcome of myringoplasty (p>0.05). The nasal congestion index (NCI) and the mucociliary clearance (MCC) did not show any significant difference between groups in terms of successful outcome of myringoplasty (p>0.05). Conclusion: This study has shown that nasal functions measured by objective and subjective methods had no effects on the success of myringoplasty. Abstract This study aims to investigate the effect of the Positive Thinking Program with Multidimensional Perspectives on the learning behavior of preschool children (5 years old) and the teachers' ...evaluation of the program. The approaches of Positive Psychology and Philosophy for Children (P4C) were used as a basis in the development of the Positive Thinking Education activities with multidimensional perspectives. Practices of positive thinking with multidimensional perspectives are easily applied to pre-schoolers in the context of activities in science and nature, mathematics, art, music, stories, etc. Five preschool teachers and 160 children were involved in the research group (80 in the experimental group and 80 in the control group). The explanatory sequential design, one of the mixed research designs, was used as a method in the study. The quantitative data study was conducted as a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group. On the other hand, qualitative data were collected at the end of the educational process through face-to-face interviews with teachers about their evaluation. As a result of the study, it was found that the program had significant effects on the learning behavior. The teachers' assessments of the program were discussed in detail. Prakse pozitivnoga razmišljanja s višedimenzionalnim perspektivama lako se primjenjuju u radu s djecom predškolske dobi u kontekstu aktivnosti u prirodi i u području znanosti, matematike, umjetnosti, glazbe, u pričama itd. Background
Edema and ecchymosis are common complications of rhinoplasty. Modifications to osteotomy may reduce edema and ecchymosis and ameliorate postoperative discomfort in patients who undergo ...rhinoplasty.
Objectives
The authors performed osteotomy with conventional instruments or with an ultrasonic device and compared these methods with respect to the severities of ecchymosis and edema in the early postoperative period.
Methods
Fifty-six patients who underwent primary rhinoplasty with medial oblique, low-to-high internal osteotomy performed conventionally or with an ultrasonic device were evaluated in a prospective study. Photographs of the patients on postoperative days 3 and 7 were scored for ecchymosis and edema by 2 physicians who did not perform the operations and were blinded to the osteotomy procedure.
Results
Ecchymosis scores on postoperative days 3 and 7 and edema scores on postoperative day 3 were significantly higher for the 22 patients who underwent conventional osteotomy than for the 34 patients who underwent ultrasonic osteotomy, as scored by both examiners. Edema scores on postoperative day 7 were significantly higher for conventional than for ultrasonic osteotomy as assessed by 1 examiner but were not significantly different as determined by the other examiner.
Conclusions
The results of this comparative study suggest that rhinoplasty with ultrasonic osteotomy is associated with less edema and ecchymosis in the early postoperative period than is rhinoplasty with conventional osteotomy.
