Problem Statement: Being a virtuous citizen, developing communication skills, and becoming a life-long learner are directly proportionate to the individuals' perspectives on life. Provided that an ...education system is able to positively change the individuals' perspectives on life, it may allow individuals to acquire terminal behaviors easier. This is due to the fact that an individual's perspective on life is a significant factor that has an effect on his or her habits and behaviors. Determination of the main characteristics of this perspective on life, referred as lifestyles will definitely make a significant contribution to the understanding of which factors play a role in the behaviors and habits of the individuals. Purpose of the Study: The objective of this paper is to determine whether there is a correlation between the lifestyles adopted by individuals in their social lives and the self-regulated learning skills they use during the learning process. Method: In this paper, correlation research design was used and the data was gathered from a total of 726 student teachers between the ages of 20 and 35, who were still in their final year studying in various departments in the faculty of education or those who receive pedagogical formation (teacher certificate program). Lifestyle Inventory was used to determine the lifestyles of the student teachers and Self-Regulated Learning Strategies Scale was used to determine the self-regulated skills of the students in the study. Correlation analysis was carried out to determine whether there was a correlation between the lifestyles of the student teachers and their self-regulated learning strategies and regression analysis was performed to determine which types of lifestyles were the predictors of self-regulated learning strategies. Findings: The results of the study indicated that there was a positive correlation between self-regulated learning strategies and perfection, appreciation, expectation, control, and self-respect-oriented lifestyles of the students. Perfection-oriented lifestyle had the highest level of positive correlation whereas control-oriented lifestyle had the lowest level of positive correlation with self-regulated learning strategies. The results of the multiple linear regression analysis carried out to determine which lifestyles as a dependent variable had significant contribution to self-regulated learning strategies showed that the variables that made topmost contribution to the model were perfection, appreciation, and expectation-oriented lifestyles, respectively. Conclusion and Recommendations: The results of the study indicate that lifestyles are associated with the learning strategies of the individuals. A review of literature shows that families and teachers have a significant role in shaping the lifestyles adopted by students. Consequently, it is considered important that parents and teachers should be knowledgeable about the factors influential in shaping the lifestyles of the students, and they should be informed about their responsibilities in this respect. The role of lifestyles should be emphasized to parents with regards to the process of raising children, and it should also be included in curriculum for teacher education. If expectation lifestyles students are educated at the school, they might use their self regulated learning strategies more effectively. In this case, teaching and learning process which includes many activities might be designed to improve student academic achievement expectations. This study investigated the relationship between lifestyles and self-regulated learning strategies. On the other hand, the investigation for the effects of the variables likes lifestyles and motivation, well being, and self conception self-regulated learning strategies will contribute its nature.
The aim of this study is to determine life styles of university students and examine if their lifestyles are effective on psychological well-being. The sample group of this study is composed of 570 ...students studying at Ataturk University during the 2010-2011 school years. The sample was constituted by using cluster sampling method on target population. In order to determine university students’ life styles life-style inventory, which was developed by Kern (1982) and adapted to Turkish by Özpolat (2011), was used. So as to determine university students’ psychological well-being The Scales of Psychological Well-Being, which was developed by Ryff (1989) and adapted to Turkish by Cenkseven (2004), was used. SPSS program was used to analyze the data.

Many factors are considered to affect vascular physiology. It is known that one of the reasons for many diseases is a pathology at the microvascular level. Therefore, the relationship between ...endothelial dysfunction and many diseases is currently being investigated. The clinical evaluations of arterial stiffness have made it possible to perform necessary risk assessment regarding cardiovascular diseases. In this way, protective measures can be taken against microvascular pathologies in many organs. In this paper, we present a review of studies investigating the relationship between urological conditions and the cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI), a marker of arterial stiffness. As with erectile dysfunction, some studies have shown that conditions such as lower urinary tract symptoms, overactive bladder, and chronic kidney disease are also associated with an elevated CAVI. The association of erectile dysfunction and chronic kidney disease with vascular pathologies has been clearly demonstrated. In addition, lower urinary tract symptoms may be the first sign of silent vascular dysfunction. Assessing arterial stiffness with CAVI can help prevent future cardiovascular events in these patients.
Aim: Intestinal obstruction due to colorectal cancer should be urgently decompressed due to high morbidity. Its treatment includes palliative
interventions, emergency laparotomy and bridge to ...surgery. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effects of stenting on surgical and oncological
outcomes by comparing it with the emergency surgery.
Method: Patients admitted between January 2019 and February 2020 due to acute malignant left-sided colon obstruction were analyzed. The groups
who underwent emergency laparotomy (group E) and those who underwent elective surgery after stenting (group S) were compared. Demographic
and preoperative basic characteristics, early postoperative outcomes and mortality rates of the patients were examined.
Results: Forty-six patients, 20 in the stenting group (group S) and 26 in the emergency surgery group (group E) were included in the study.
Age, gender, tumor location, ASA status and N stage of the groups were similar. The T stages were significantly higher in the group E (p<0.01).
While technical success was achieved in 17 patients (85.0%) and clinical success in 14 patients (70.0%) in the group S, emergency laparotomy was
performed in 6 patients. In 7 patients (35.0%) in group S, the surgery was completed laparoscopically. The groups were similar in terms of permanent
stoma, length of stay, and 30-day mortality rates, while significantly lower complications were observed in the stenting group (15% vs 50%, p=0.013).
Conclusion: Elective laparoscopic colectomy after stent decompression may be possible with less severe morbidity and lower 30 day mortality in the
management of acute left-sided colon obstruction.
Purpose
The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented conditions for overall health care systems by restricting resources for non-COVID-19 patients. As the burden of the disease escalates, routine ...elective surgeries are being cancelled. The aim of this paper was to provide a guideline for management of endocrine surgical disorders during a pandemic.
Methods
We used Delphi method with a nine-scale Likert scale on two rounds of voting involving 64 experienced eminent surgeons and endocrinologists who had the necessary experience to provide insight on endocrine disorder management. All voting was done by email using a standard questionnaire.
Results
Overall, 37 recommendations were voted on. In two rounds, all recommendations reached an agreement and were either endorsed or rejected. Endorsed statements include dietary change in primary hyperparathyroidism, Cinacalcet treatment in secondary hyperparathyroidism, alpha-blocker administration for pheochromocytoma, methimazole ± β-blocker combination for Graves’ disease, and follow-up for fine-needle aspiration results of thyroid nodules indicated as Bethesda 3–4 cytological results and papillary microcarcinoma.
Conclusion
This survey summarizes expert opinion for the management of endocrine surgical conditions during unprecedented times when access to surgical treatment is severely disrupted. The statements are not applicable in circumstances in which surgical treatment is possible.
