Uterine leiomyoma with lymphoid infiltration is a rare disease that simulates malignant lymphoma with only nine cases reported to date. We describe the first case of uterine adenomyoma with lymphoid ...infiltration simulating lymphoma.
The specimen resected from a 30-year-old Chinese woman was a well-defined firm nodule measuring 5 × 5.5 × 5.5 cm. The cut surface was similar to that of adenomyoma, which contained dark brown spots and a cyst. Microscopically, the tumor comprised smooth muscle cells intermixed with many lymphocytes. Many lymphoid follicles were present, just locating beside one side of thin-walled blood vessels and protruding into the vessels. Endometrial-type glands and stroma were visible in the tumor.
We describe the first case of uterine adenomyoma with lymphoid infiltration simulating lymphoma.
We report the observation of TeV gamma-rays from the Cygnus region using the ARGO-YBJ data collected from 2007 November to 2011 August. Several TeV sources are located in this region including the ...two bright extended MGRO J2019+37 and MGRO J2031+41. According to the Milagro data set, at 20 TeV MGRO J2019+37 is the most significant source apart from the Crab Nebula. No signal from MGRO J2019+37 is detected by the ARGO-YBJ experiment, and the derived flux upper limits at 90% confidence level for all the events above 600 GeV with medium energy of 3 TeV are lower than the Milagro flux, implying that the source might be variable and hard to be identified as a pulsar wind nebula. The only statistically significant (6.4 standard deviations) gamma-ray signal is found from MGRO J2031+41, with a flux consistent with the measurement by Milagro.
To determine the mechanisms of interactions between different drugs and HERG channels. METHODS:Various antiarrhythmic (dofetilide, quinidine, azimilide, RP58866) and non-antiarrhythmic (terfenadine, ...nicotine)agents were used on HERG channels expressed in Xenopus oocyte. Whole-cell voltage-clamp techniques were used. RESULTS: All drugs produced concentration-dependent block of HERG current. The inhibition was markedly facilitated with voltage protocols favoring channel inactivation (eg, less negative holding potentials). Maneuvers that weakened channel inactivation (eg, elevation of external K~), relieved HERG blockade by all drugs. Moreover, the inhibitory potency was reduced by at least 20-300 fold with varying compounds when rapid C-type inactivation was removed by a mutation located between the transmembrane domains 5 and 6 ($631A). CONCLUSION: The inactivation gating of HERG channels determines the blocking potency of drugs. This mechanism might be common to drugs of various classes.
Due to the large spin-orbital coupling in the layered 5d-transition metal chalcogenides compound, the occurrence of superconductivity in Ir2-xPdxTe2 offers a good chance to search for possible ...topological superconducting states in this system. We did comprehensive studies on the superconducting properties and electronic structures of single crystalline Ir0.95Pd0.05Te2 samples. The superconducting gap size, critical fields and coherence length along different directions were experimentally determined. Macroscopic bulk measurements and microscopic low temperature scanning tunneling spectroscopy results suggest that Ir0.95Pd0.05Te2 possesses a BCS-like s-wave state. No sign of zero bias conductance peak were found in the vortex core at 0.4K.
Additive layer manufacturing (ALM), using gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) as heat source, is a promising technology in producing Inconel 625 components due to significant cost savings, high ...deposition rate and convenience of processing. With the purpose of revealing how microstructure and mechanical properties are affected by the location within the manufactured wall component, the present study has been carried out. The manufactured Inconel 625 consists of cellular grains without secondary dendrites in the near-substrate region, columnar dendrites structure oriented upwards in the layer bands, followed by the transition from directional dendrites to equiaxed grain in the top region. With the increase in deposited height, segregation behavior of alloying elements Nb and Mo constantly strengthens with maximal evolution in the top region. The primary dendrite arm spacing has a well coherence with the content of Laves phase. The microhardness and tensile strength show obvious variation in different regions. The microhardness and tensile strength of near-substrate region are superior to that of layer bands and top region. The results are further explained in detail through the weld pool behavior and temperature field measurement.
The diversities in crystal structures and ways of doping result in extremely diversified phase diagrams for iron-based superconductors. With angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), we have ...systematically studied the effects of chemical substitution on the electronic structure of various series of iron-based superconductors. In addition to the control of Fermi surface topology by heterovalent doping, we found two more extraordinary effects of doping: 1. the site and band dependencies of quasiparticle scattering; and more importantly 2. the ubiquitous and significant bandwidth-control by both isovalent and heterovalent dopants in the iron-anion layer. Moreover, we found that the bandwidth-control could be achieved by either applying the chemical pressure or doping electrons, but not by doping holes. Together with other findings provided here, these results complete the microscopic picture of the electronic effects of dopants, which facilitates a unified understanding of the diversified phase diagrams and resolutions to many open issues of various iron-based superconductors.
Here, we reported a conformation-constrained peptide library, that was constructed based on the scaffold of a 29 amino acids peptide derived from insect defensin A. The peptide scaffold was designed ...utilizing the I
nsightII molecular modeling software and then displayed on M13 filamentous bacteriophage by fusion with coat protein III. The library was constructed by randomization of seven positions located within the two loops of the peptide scaffold generating approximately 8.3×10
8 transformants. Sequences from 14 randomly selected phage clones indicated that the distribution of nucleotides and amino acids paralleled with the expected frequency. Screening against the target proteins: tumor necrosis factor α, TNF receptor 1, TNF receptor 2 and monoclonal antibody against BMP-2 showed significant enrichment in all cases. The results presented here show that the reconstructed insect defensin A domain will be a promising non-antibody protein scaffold for the presentation of a phage-displayed constrained peptide library.
Objective
This pilot clinical study was undertaken to investigate the role of T cell vaccination in the induction of regulatory immune responses in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Methods
...Autologous synovial T cells were selected for pathologic relevance, rendered inactive by irradiation, and used for vaccination. Fifteen patients received T cell vaccination via 6 subcutaneous inoculations over a period of 12 months.
Results
T cell vaccination led to induction of CD4+ Tregs and CD8+ cytotoxic T cells specific for T cell vaccine. There was selective expansion of CD4+,Vβ2+ Tregs that produced interleukin‐10 (IL‐10) and expressed a high level of transcription factor Foxp3, which coincided with depletion of overexpressed BV14+ T cells in treated patients. CD4+ IL‐10–secreting Tregs induced by T cell vaccination were found to react specifically with peptides derived from IL‐2 receptor α‐chain. The expression level of Foxp3 in CD4+ T cells and increased inhibitory activity of CD4+,CD25+ Tregs were significantly elevated following T cell vaccination. The observed regulatory immune responses collectively correlated with clinical improvement in treated patients. In an intent‐to‐treat analysis, a substantial response, defined as meeting the American College of Rheumatology 50% improvement criteria, was shown in 10 of the 15 patients (66.7%) and was accompanied by a marked improvement in RA‐related laboratory parameters.
Conclusion
These findings suggest that T cell vaccination induces regulatory immune responses that are associated with improved clinical and laboratory variables in RA patients.
The precise measurement of the spectrum of protons, the most abundant component of the cosmic radiation, is necessary to understand the source and acceleration of cosmic rays in the Milky Way. This ...work reports the measurement of the cosmic ray proton fluxes with kinetic energies from 40 GeV to 100 TeV, with two and a half years of data recorded by the DArk Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE). This is the first time an experiment directly measures the cosmic ray protons up to ~100 TeV with a high statistics. The measured spectrum confirms the spectral hardening found by previous experiments and reveals a softening at ~13.6 TeV, with the spectral index changing from ~2.60 to ~2.85. Our result suggests the existence of a new spectral feature of cosmic rays at energies lower than the so-called knee, and sheds new light on the origin of Galactic cosmic rays.
