To investigate protective effect and possible mechanisms of erythropoitin (EPO) on cortical neuron against damage induced by glutamate(Glu).
Cortical neurons were removed from 1-day-old newborn rat ...and then cultured in vitro. The model of damage induced by Glu was established. The experiment was designed as: control group, Glu treatment group, the group of pretreatment with EPO, pyrrolidine dithiocarbamates(PDTC) treatment group. The changes of morphology were observed under inverted microscopy; the cell viability was detected by MTT assay; and the apoptosis rate of neuron was measured by flow cytometry.
After exposure to Glu, neurons were obviously damaged. Neurons morph of EPO pretreatment group was similar to that of blank group. However, in PDTC treatment group, cells were obviously damaged, and morph of cells was similar to that of Glu treatment group. Compared with control group, survival of neurons of Glu treatment group significantly decreased, while the neurons apoptotis of Glu treatment group was sig
Effects of Mg on the chemical component and size distribution of Ti-bearing inclusions favored grain refinement of the welding induced coarse-grained heat affected zone (CGHAZ), with enhanced impact ...toughness in Ti-killed steels, which were examined based on experimental observations and thermodynamic calculations. The results indicated that the chemical constituents of the inclusions gradually varied from the Ti-O+Ti-Mg-O compound oxide to the Ti-Mg-O+MgO compound oxide and the single-phase MgO, as the Mg content increased from 0.002 3M to 0.006%. A trace addition of Mg (approximately 0. 002%) led to the refinement of Ti-bearing inclusions by creating the Ti-Mg-O compound oxide and provided favorable size distribution of the inclusions for acicular ferrite transformation with a high nucleation rate in the CGHAZ, and a high volume fraction of acicular ferrite was obtained in the CGHAZ with enhanced impact toughness. Otherwise, a high content of Mg (approximately 0. 006%) produced a single-phase MgO, which was impotent to nucleate an acicular ferrite, and a microstructure comprised of a ferrite side plate and a grain boundary ferrite developed in the CGHAZ. The experimental results were confirmed by thermodynamic calculations.
Yb/P/Al codoped silica glass preforms are fabricated by MCVD process combined with the solution doping technique. Highly and homogeneously doping of Yb(3+) is realized by optimization of the core ...composition and fabrication process. The Yb(2)O(3) concentration in preform core is up to ~4 wt.% and Yb(3+) fluorescence lifetime at 1080nm reaches 1780 mu s. Double-clad fibers with octagonal inner cladding are successfully drawn from the preform, the fiber core diameter is 7.5 mu m and the clad absorption coefficicent is up to ~5 dB/m76 nm. The operation of the cladding pumped all-fiber laser is demonstrated using Yb-doped double-clad fibers. Fiber lasers with output power of 5.15 W and slope efficiency of 76% are obtained.
To investigate the relationship between TNF-alpha and renal tubular cell injury caused by anoxia/reoxygenation.
Human renal proximal tubular cell line HK-2 was used as model. Anoxia/reoxygenation ...were produced by covering/de-covering the cell culture with liquid paraffin wax. The level of TNF-alpha and the activity of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) in the culture medium was determined by radioimmunoassay(RIA) and biochemical methods, respectively. Trypan blue exclusion was used to measure cell viability.
Anoxia/reoxygenation could increase TNF-alpha level and LDH activity, but decrease viability of HK-2 cells. TNF-alpha level was positively correlated with LDH activity (r=0.89, P<0.05) and negatively with the cell viability (r=-0.91, P<0.05).
TNF-alpha induced by anoxia/reoxygenation may participate in the process of renal tubular cell injury.
S6; Extraction and characterization of antioxidative compositions from the extracts of fermented Xisha Noni(Morinda citrifolia L.)juice were studied. The antioxidative constituents of 184.6g ...freeze-dried extracts of naturally fermented Xisha Noni juice were isolated successfully by petroleum ether,EtOAc and n-BuOH solvents, and the antioxidative effects were measured according to scavenging activity against hydroxyl generated in Fenton reaction system and superoxide anion radicals in pyrogallol autoxidation system. The EtOAc extract exhibited most significantly higher(P<0.01)antioxidative activity than mannitol or vitamin C,while the petroleum ether and n-BuOH extracts showed lower activities compared to were isolated from the EtOAc extract by several chromatography techniques for the first time. The results suggest that several compounds,in particular, the phenolic compounds, contribute separately or synergistically to the antioxidative activity of fermented Noni fruit juice.
Two kinds of ultra-high strength cold rolled dual phase steels have been developed by designing C-Si-Mn-Cr and C-Si-Mn-Cr-Mo alloy systems. Tensile strength and elongation of both steels exceed 1100 ...MPa and 10%,respectively. The microstructures of both steels consist of massive martensite and ferrite. And the massive martensite of Mo-free steel disperses in the ferrite with volume fraction of 64%. However, the massive martensite of Mo-containing steel is connected or closed by small martensite islands each other, and martensite volume fraction is 69%. As to Mo-free steel, the yield strength, yield ratio, and work hardening exponent n are 548 MPa,0.49,and 0.26,respectively. As for Mo-containing one,the yield strength, yield ratio, and n value are 746 MPa,0.66,and 0.33,respectively. Besides, the ferrite of Mo-free steel is deformed at the initial stage of plastic deformation. However, for Mo-containing one,Mo solution strengthened ferrite and small overaged martensite islands are deformed preferentially at small strain, which causes the yield strength to reach approximately 200 MPa higher than that of Mo-free steel.
A novel pre-cyclone jet singlet oxygen generator (PJSOG) has been the focus of research for recent years. In this paper, the high liquid-gas ratio separation performances of PJSOG have been studied ...by means of theoretical and experimental analysis. The liquid excess of the critical mass concentration portion can be easily captured due to initial BHP particles swirling momentum for a specific designed structure. At high flow speeds, the vacuum mixed Cl2/He with a weak entrainment capability insures high separation efficiency. Large quantities of experiments have verified that the new PJSOG do have the excellent operation performances of high separation efficiency, high O2 (1Δ) output coefficient, high utilization coefficient of Cl2 and excellent operating flexibility and stability. All the results show that the new PJSOG is a feasible and promising technology in singlet oxygen generation cases.
Background and purpose: High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), which is involved in the process of DNA replication, transcription and translation, is closely related to the occurrence, development, ...invasion and metastasis of malignant tumors. In addition, HMGB1 is involved in the regulation of various signaling pathways of inflammation, immunity, proliferation, metastasis and autophagy. This research aimed to explore the correlation between HMGB1 and clinicopathological characteristics, immune function and neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer. Methods: We enrolled a total of 120 breast cancer patients admitted to the Third Hospital of Nanchang from May 2019 to October 2020. The level of HMGB1 in sample of the core needle biopsy was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). IL-10 and TGF-β as the indicators of regulatory T cell (Treg) were measured. The percentages of CD3 + , CD4 + , CD8 + T lymphocytes and natural killer (NK) cells were detected by flow cytometry. The contents of immunoglobulin IgG, IgA, IgM and complement C3, C4 were determined by rate-scattering turbidimetry. The study subjects were divided into the high level group (HMGB1 > 22.98 ng/mL) and the low level group (HMGB1≤22.98 ng/mL) according to the lower limit level of the 95% CI. After neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the pathological effect was evaluatedaccording to the Miller-Payne pathological response grading standard. We analyzed the relationship between HMGB1 level and pathological efficacy. Results: HMGB1 levels were associated with breast cancer stage and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). The level of HMGB1 was significantly correlated with Treg related IL-10 and TGF-β (r=0.734, P < 0.001; r=0.686, P < 0.001). CD4 + T cells/CD3 + T cells in the HMGB1 high level group were lower than in the low level group, and CD8 + T cells/CD3 + T cells were higher in the high level group than in the low level group (P < 0.05). Patients with high-level HMGB1 had worse postoperative effects. Conclusion: The level of HMGB1 is related to breast cancer stage, lymph node metastasis and cellular immune function, and helps predict the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

The weldability of a low-carbon copper-bearing age hardening steel was evaluated using cracking suscepti- bility calculation, HAZ maximum hardness measurement, and Y-groove cracking evaluation test. ...The results show that the hardenability characteristics and cold cracking susceptibility of the steel are very low. The results also indicate that a crack-free weldment can be obtained during the welding of this type of steel even at an ambient temperature as low as -5 ℃ as well as in an absolute humidity lower than 4 000 Pa without any preheat treatment. A slight preheat treatment can prevent the joint from cracking when welding is carried out at lower ambient temperature or higher absolute humidity.
