Abstract
We have developed an automated quick data analysis system for data quality assurance (QA) for Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC). The system was commissioned in 2012–2014, and has been offered for ...general observations, including the HSC Subaru Strategic Program, since 2014 March. The system provides observers with data quality information, such as seeing, sky background level, and sky transparency, based on quick analysis as data are acquired. Quick-look images and validation of image focus are also provided through an interactive web application. The system is responsible for the automatic extraction of QA information from acquired raw data into a database, to assist with observation planning, assess progress of all observing programs, and monitor long-term efficiency variations of the instrument and telescope. Enhancements of the system are being planned to facilitate final data analysis, to improve the HSC archive, and to provide legacy products for astronomical communities.

Abstract
We describe five broad-band filters and a narrow-band one for the Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) at the prime focus of the Subaru Telescope. Since the HSC is a practical successor to the ...Suprime-Cam (SC), our broad-band filter set follows the SC's SDSS g΄, r΄, i΄, z΄ filters, and Y filter, and the Hα filter is adopted as our first narrow-band filter. Filters for the HSC are quite large; therefore, they are constructed only by interference coatings. Based on a draft specification guided by that of SC's filters, we made prototype filters which were evaluated at a laboratory, and eventually used them in the actual HSC commissioning observation. Through this process, we learned that transmission measurement with a fine spatial sampling was crucial for reliable understanding of the filter characteristics, and this motivated us to develop an efficient measurement system. Since this measurement system is placed in the summit facility and functions semi-automatically, long-term monitoring of the performance of HSC filters will be achieved. We present in this paper the specifications that the HSC filter should meet, problems and solutions in filter implementation, issues found through the commissioning observing run, the new filter measurement system at the summit facility, and transmission curves and tables of the filters.
Abstract
We present the results of detailed analysis of an optical imaging survey conducted using the Subaru/Hyper Suprime-Cam (HSC) that aimed to identify an optical counterpart to the gravitational ...wave event GW151226. In half a night, the i- and z-band imaging survey by HSC covered 63.5 deg2 of the error region, which contains about 7% of the LIGO localization probability, and the same field was observed in three different epochs. The detectable magnitude of the candidates in a differenced image is evaluated as i ∼ 23.2 mag for the requirement of at least two 5 σ detections, and 1744 candidates are discovered. Assuming a kilonova as an optical counterpart, we compare the optical properties of the candidates with model predictions. A red and rapidly declining light curve condition enables the discrimination of a kilonova from other transients, and a small number of candidates satisfy this condition. The presence of stellar-like counterparts in the reference frame suggests that the surviving candidates are likely to be flare stars. The fact that most of those candidates are in the galactic plane, |b| < 5°, supports this interpretation. We also check whether the candidates are associated with the nearby GLADE galaxies, which reduces the number of contaminants even with a looser color cut. When a better probability map (with localization accuracy of ∼50 deg2) is available, kilonova searches of up to approximately 200 Mpc will become feasible by conducting immediate follow-up observations with an interval of 3–6 d.
ABSTRACT
A double source plane (DSP) system is a precious probe for the density profile of distant galaxies and cosmological parameters. However, these measurements could be affected by the ...surrounding environment of the lens galaxy. Thus, it is important to evaluate the cluster-scale mass for detailed mass modelling. We observed the Eye of Horus, a DSP system discovered by the Hyper Suprime-Cam Subaru Strategic Survey (HSC–SSP), with XMM–Newton. We detected two X-ray extended emissions, originating from two clusters, one centred at the Eye of Horus, and the other located ∼100 arcsec north-east to the Eye of Horus. We determined the dynamical mass assuming hydrostatic equilibrium, and evaluated their contributions to the lens mass interior of the Einstein radius. The contribution of the former cluster is $1.1^{+1.2}_{-0.5}\times 10^{12}\, \mathrm{M}_{\odot }$, which is $21\!-\!76{{\ \rm per\ cent}}$ of the total mass within the Einstein radius. The discrepancy is likely due to the complex gravitational structure along the line of sight. On the other hand, the contribution of the latter cluster is only $\sim 2{{\ \rm per\ cent}}$ on the Eye of Horus. Therefore, the influence associated with this cluster can be ignored.
The 4-m International Liquid Mirror Telescope (ILMT) is presently (March-June 2017) being erected on the ARIES site in Devasthal (Uttarakhand). We describe and illustrate in the present paper its ...different components. The ILMT will be used in the Time Delayed Integration (TDI) mode to carry out a deep survey and high S/N photometric and astrometric observations of solar system, galactic and extra-galactic objects within a narrow (24’) strip of sky. In principle, the ILMT should detect and regularly monitor more than 50 multiply imaged quasars. It will also detect numerous supernovae (see Kumar et al., these proceedings) as well as space debris (see Pradhan et al., also in these proceedings).
In HIV-infected patients, acute respiratory failure is usually due to infectious pneumonia. In this report, we describe two cases of acute respiratory failure in HIV patients with clinical ...presentation suggesting infectious pneumonia. In both cases, the clinical condition deteriorated and death occurred after several days despite therapy. In both cases bronchial biopsies confirmed bronchogenic carcinoma responsible for carcinomatous lymphangitis.

Primary intrapericardial thymoma is an unusual localization. We report a case of a patient with an isolated and primary pericardial thymoma. This 72-year-old woman presented with dyspnea, dysphony ...and myalgia. The radiological evaluation revealed an intrapericardial mass. Surgical exploration showed a hemorrhagic and infiltrative tumor in the pericardial sac, while the mediastinum was free of tumor. Surgical biopsies and, later, an ablation of pericardial mass were done. The tumor was a thymoma, composed of large epithelial cells and immature T lymphocytes and was classified B2 according to the World Health Organization classification (1999). Clinically, a myasthenia gravis was revealed. We discuss the few cases reported in the literature.

We present high-precision photometry of five consecutive transits of WASP-18, an extrasolar planetary system with one of the shortest orbital periods known. Through the use of telescope defocusing we ...achieve a photometric precision of 0.47-0.83 mmag per observation over complete transit events. The data are analyzed using the JKTEBOP code and three different sets of stellar evolutionary models. We find the mass and radius of the planet to be M b = 10.43 +/- 0.30 +/- 0.24 M Jup and R b = 1.165 +/- 0.055 +/- 0.014 R Jup (statistical and systematic errors), respectively. The systematic errors in the orbital separation and the stellar and planetary masses, arising from the use of theoretical predictions, are of a similar size to the statistical errors and set a limit on our understanding of the WASP-18 system. We point out that seven of the nine known massive transiting planets (M b > 3 M Jup) have eccentric orbits, whereas significant orbital eccentricity has been detected for only four of the 46 less-massive planets. This may indicate that there are two different populations of transiting planets, but could also be explained by observational biases. Further radial velocity observations of low-mass planets will make it possible to choose between these two scenarios.
