The high mechanical performance of common structural materials (e.g., metals, alloys, and ceramics) originates from strong primary bonds (i.e., metallic, covalent, ionic) between ...constituent atoms. However, the large formation energy of primary bonds requires high temperatures in order to process these materials, resulting in significant manufacturing costs and a substantial environmental footprint. Herein, we report a strategy to leverage secondary bonds (e.g., hydrogen bonds) to produce a high-performance and low-cost material that outperforms most existing structural compounds. By dispersing graphite flakes and nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) in water at room temperature to form a stable and homogeneous solution with a high solid concentration (20 wt%), we demonstrate this slurry can be scalably printed to manufacture a graphite-NFC composite that exhibits a high tensile strength (up to 1.0 GPa) and toughness (up to 30.0 MJ/m3). The low density of graphite and cellulose leads to a specific strength of the composite (794 MPa/(g cm−3)) that is significantly greater than most engineering materials (e.g., steels, aluminum, and titanium alloys). We demonstrate how hydrogen bonds between the graphite flakes and NFC play a pivotal role in the superb mechanical performance of the composite, also enabling this low-cost material to be recyclable for an environmentally sustainable solution to high performance structural materials.
The new normal learning process remains extremely difficult to implement due to changing one's mentality. Educators are not agents of knowledge dissemination. Nonetheless, it must fundamentally ...transform into motivators, inspirations, and collaborators in the process of developing the capacity to ask critical questions about the information contained in cyberspace and the general dearth of universities. It can organize online higher education programs properly is still a small number and coupled with students' lack of comprehension of the material provided by the lecturer online, which is significantly different from the face-to-face learning method. This research was conducted descriptively by employing a quantitative approach. This research aims to ascertain the capabilities of universities and their impact on the results achieved by universities in terms of competitiveness. The study's findings indicate that the university's unique capability significantly impacts its competitiveness.
Currently, the tourism sector is a central issue in the growth of a country. Researchers have proven the critical role of the tourism sector in increasing state revenues through tourist visits, both ...domestic and foreign tourists. Several previous studies have shown the part of the destination image in increasing the revisit rates. However, multiple research models have differed variations in explaining the influence of the destination image on the tourists' loyalty to revisit shopping destinations. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of destination image on tourist revisit intention towards shopping tours in Bandung. The survey approach is used to answer the research objectives. The results prove there is an influence of the destination image on the tourists' revisit intention to shopping tours with 179 samples carried out simultaneously on several shopping tourist destinations in Bandung. Thus, the proper advice to improve the revisit intention is providing facilities and infrastructure as well as exciting experiences for the tourists.
Nowadays, the issue of teachers’ psychological well-being causes serious concern, especially in Malaysia. Many studies related to psychological well-being have focused on students rather than on the ...health and well-being of teachers. Thus, the current study investigated the determinants of psychological well-being (depression, anxiety and stress) from the psychosocial work environment (job control, job demands and social support), and examined the moderating role of job control and social support in the relationship between job demands and psychological well-being among teachers. The design of this study was quantitative research through a survey questionnaire. The sample consisted of 335 high school teachers (23.3%—male; 76.7%—female) who responded to measuring scales of job demands, job control, social support, depression, anxiety and stress, and socio-demographic profile. The data were analyzed using two statistical methods, namely descriptive and inferential statistics. The hierarchical linear regression model was used to analyze the data by assisting the statistical software, i.e., SPSS-23. The results showed that job demands, job control and social support significantly predicted teachers’ psychological well-being. Furthermore, the effect of job demands on teachers’ depression and anxiety was partially moderated by job control and social support. In conclusion, this study has successfully identified the significant predictors of teachers’ psychological well-being and the role of job control and social support as a moderating variable to teachers’ psychological well-being in Malaysia. The result provides insights and contributes to the literature of teachers’ psychological well-being determinants and involves Malaysian respondents with a collectivistic eastern culture.
Terrorism is a very dangerous thing and has become a threat both on a national and international scale. Understanding terrorism seeks to instill the seeds of hostility towards a group, government ...agencies and even the state. Before entering the 21st century terror attacks are blatant in the business sector by sabotaging and damaging public facilities and vital objects. These physical attacks can be prevented by recording personal identities or conducting regular security patrols and placing a large number of security personnel in places of business and places that are considered strategic. However, this is still not optimal where the level of security and the number of personnel are limited in monitoring the place for a long time and are sustainable. The terrorist attacks in the 21st century are different and require different handling. Attacks can be physical or non-physical. On non-physical objects attacks are usually carried out by hacking networks that can damage internet network connections in one area and even one country. Ways to prevent attacks that are physical in nature by utilizing computer vision technology capabilities that are used to record all civil society. An additional feature in this technology lies in the face recognition and pattern matching techniques where a person's face will be searched for unique features. Then from these data will be biometric data, namely data that will not change and disappear. Computer vision algorithms can detect a person's face or object even though it has been modified or changed in physical and color conditions. The advantages of these algorithms are effectively used to record visitor identities and are optimal in recognizing an object with an accuracy of up to 90%. This system is able to help and improve a security feature of a business and tourist area.
As embodied in Malaysia's Vision 2020, Malaysia aims to become a cashless country. Therefore, the existing statistical data indicated that the e-wallet adoption rate remains at a low percentage. It ...has been a barrier for Malaysia in achieving the aims to become a cashless country. The use of e-wallet was also expected to rise amidst the Covid-19 pandemic; to optimize an intervention for the Covid-19 outbreak. Thus, the current study investigates the factors that correlate with the intention to use e-wallet during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study is designed using a quantitative approach through cross-sectional data. A total of 160 Malaysian youths participated and collected by using an online survey. Further, the Task-Technology Fit (TTF) model and Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) were integrated into this study with an extended variable, namely, perceived credibility. The analysis results showed that Individual-Technology Fit, Task-Technology Fit, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use and Perceived Credibility were significantly correlated to Covid19 intra-period e-wallet adoption. In conclusion, a considerable theoretical contribution was demonstrated by integrating TTF-TAM and Perceived Credibility in a single integrated model. The constructs in the TTF model (i.e., Individual-technology fit and task-technology fit) has positively related to the constructs in the TAM model (i.e., perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use). This study is useful to stakeholders and provides enhanced directions to meet market needs by understanding and predicting e-wallet user's post-pandemic behavior, thereby helping service providers attract new users and retain their existing users.
