Nowadays, transportation is one of the main air pollution sources and has a significant impact on human health and environmental quality. The electric vehicle is a zero emission vehicle powered by an ...electric motor with power from an electricity source, usually a battery or super-capacitor. However, monitoring and managing the recharging of electric vehicles represents a challenge. The purpose of this paper is to present a new concept of telemonitoring the battery charging process. The paper presents a general overview of existing techniques and solutions for powering electric vehicles and evaluates different sensors for tele-monitoring the battery. Furthermore, we evaluate the feasibility of the novel concept to monitor redox flow batteries.
Modulation detection, one of the most important functions of a receiver in a communication system, is an intermediary step between its signal detection and demodulation. In this paper, we present the ...use of the recurrence plot analysis method (RPA) used for the detection of the modulation technique used for a wireless sensor network (WSN). We show a technique for the RPA method to detect ASK, FSK, even PSK signals using recurrence matrix or distance matrix 1. We also show the potential to detect OFDM modulations using this method. Simulation results confirm the importance of the RPA method.

The present paper is analysing the occupancy of the radio spectrum for some typical CDMA communications systems. The paper presents also an analysis of how the available channel are used by the ...communications system and especially of how other available channels could be detected. As example, the paper presents also how the IMT-2000 uplink bands can be better loaded.

Ultra-wide band (UWB) systems with the multi-band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing techniques (ODFM) represent a promising technology for future high-speed networks. The paper describes a ...line of sight channel propagation model compatible with the one purpose by IEEE 802.15.3a standardization group and a modality to simulate it. The simulated channel was proposed for multi-band OFDM based UWB systems, highlighting a number of multipath channel parameters: RMS delay spread, power decade profile and number of paths (defined as the number of arrived signals that have a level with maximum 10 dB below the level of the strongest arrived signal).
This ultra wideband (UWB) communication system proved to be a new and reliable system for wireless communications due to its capacity to provide low power, short range high date rate, fade free, ...relatively shadow-free communications in a device multipath environment. We analyze these performances for three different UWB block waveforms communication systems.
The paper describes a library and a technique used for implementing a mobile communication protocol, starting from the layer 2 DECT specification. The defining feature of this software library is ...support for SDL-88 semantics. This library can be used to develop protocols software on Unix platforms with a system V and POSIX.1b heritage. The protocol implemented can then be run in user space Unix, and/or deployed on an embedded target with support for POSIX.1b.
This paper presents the performances of a combined coding scheme that uses VL (VL)-runlength limited (RLL) codes (used for timing recovery purposes in many communication media) and RS (RS) block ...codes (in order to minimize the overall error probability of the system.) In the first part of the paper four VL code structures ar presented, and the error propagation behavior is evaluated for each of them. In the second part extended Monte Carlo simulations have been used in order to evaluate the error probability of the overall system as function of the channel error probability. Based on those results, in the final part a number of conclusions are highlighted.

This paper presents three multiuser detectors structures: the conventional detector, the optimum detector and the MMSE detector. The error probability performances are evaluated and compared one ...another, as functions of signal to noise ratio, of number of users and the correlation coefficients between them. Finally, several conclusions are highlighted, with respect to the level of performance achieved and implementation complexity.
This paper addresses the gray scale image interpolation by means of mathematical morphology. The new image interpolation method, called skeleton interpolation is based on morphological 3D binary ...skeleton. This article will present the theoretical background of the morphological image interpolation, deduce the new representation and show some application examples. Computer simulations illustrate results.
This paper presents a simulation method for UMTS radio link in the presence of the Rayleigh fading, for different user equipment speeds. The propagation channel simulation method is described in ...detail. Finally, as an application of the presented radio link simulation, some results are highlighted for different user equipment speeds and a number of interesting conclusions are highlighted.
