Adopting a relational perspective, this article investigates whether organizational relationship-building routines and relational coordination influence organizational knowledge management capability ...and ultimately innovation in professional service firms (PSFs). Using data collected from 120 accounting firms in Ireland, support is found for an inter-mediation model where both relational coordination and knowledge management capability intervene in the relationship between relational routines and innovation. Thus, a linkage model is supported whereby relational routines facilitate relational coordination, which enhances knowledge management capability, leading to innovation. This article provides evidence of the importance of relational routines and relational coordination in promoting a firm’s knowledge management capability and in fostering innovation. Results highlight the value of relational resources in PSFs and suggest a novel and easy-to-implement approach for knowledge and innovation management.
Reversible post-translational modifications represent a mechanism to control tumor metabolism. Here we show that mitochondrial Sirtuin5 (SIRT5), which mediates lysine desuccinylation, ...deglutarylation, and demalonylation, plays a role in colorectal cancer (CRC) glutamine metabolic rewiring. Metabolic profiling identifies that deletion of SIRT5 causes a marked decrease in
C-glutamine incorporation into tricarboxylic-acid (TCA) cycle intermediates and glutamine-derived non-essential amino acids. This reduces the building blocks required for rapid growth. Mechanistically, the direct interaction between SIRT5 and glutamate dehydrogenase 1 (GLUD1) causes deglutarylation and functional activation of GLUD1, a critical regulator of cellular glutaminolysis. Consistently, GLUD1 knockdown diminishes SIRT5-induced proliferation, both in vivo and in vitro. Clinically, overexpression of SIRT5 is significantly correlated with poor prognosis in CRC. Thus, SIRT5 supports the anaplerotic entry of glutamine into the TCA cycle in malignant phenotypes of CRC via activating GLUD1.
Fresh products have a strong dependence on time and a large loss rate in the circulation process. Applying RFID technology to the supply chain of fresh products, through the real-time tracking ...technology, can not only reduce the products’ time dependence but also realize the second order within the whole sales period. This paper takes a two-echelon fresh supply chain of a single fresh retailer as the research object, constructs a two-stage Newsvendor model with or without RFID technology, compares the difference in profits, and provides decision-making reference for fresh retailers whether to invest in RFID or not.
Human resource management (HRM) research has broadened its focus beyond the intended HRM designed by executives to include the actual HRM line managers implement. In this study of a global ...professional services firm, we investigate the content and process of HRM implementation. HRM content refers to the degree or extent to which line managers implement HRM practices. The process of HRM implementation entails two seemingly contradictory dimensions of those practices: consistency (treating team members uniformly) and individual responsiveness (considering individual differences in contributions). Studying 171 employees and their line managers in 60 consulting project teams, we jointly address the effects of consistency and individual responsiveness in line manager HRM implementation. Results indicate that the degree and consistency of HRM implementation by line managers is positively related to individual job performance. In addition, consistency is found to moderate the link between the individual responsiveness of line manager HRM implementation and individual job performance such that the link is stronger when consistency is high. However, no impact is found for team viability. Implications for research and practice are discussed.
Protein kinases play a critical role in regulating virtually all cellular processes. Here, we developed a novel one-step method based on a wild-type aerolysin nanopore, which enables kinase activity ...detection without labeling/modification, immobilization, cooperative enzymes and complicated procedures. By virtual of the positively charged confinement of the aerolysin nanopore, the kinase-induced phosphopeptides are specially captured while the positively charged substrate peptides might move away from the pore by the electric field. Combining with internal standard method, the event frequency of the phosphopeptides exhibited a dose-dependent response with kinases. The detection limit of 0.005 U/μL has been achieved with protein kinase A as a model target. This method also allowed kinase inhibitor screening, kinase activity sensing in cell lysates and the real-time monitoring of kinase-catalyzed phosphorylation at singe molecule level, which could further benefit fundamental biochemical research, clinical diagnosis and kinase-targeted drug discovery. Moreover, this nanopore sensor shows strong capacity for the other enzymes that altered substrate charge (e.g., sulfonation, carboxylation, or amidation).
To comprehensively evaluate the effect of accelerated rehabilitation surgical care on perioperative wound infections and complications in patients undergoing lung cancer surgery. A comprehensive ...computerised search for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of accelerated rehabilitative surgical care applied to patients undergoing lung cancer surgery was conducted using the Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, Wanfang and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases from inception to September 2023. The literature was screened and evaluated by two investigators, and data were extracted from the final included literature. Stata software (version 17.0) was used for data analysis. Overall, 21 RCTs involving 2187 patients were included, including 1093 cases in the accelerated rehabilitation surgical care group and 1094 cases in the conventional care group. The analyses revealed that patients with lung cancer surgery who implemented accelerated rehabilitation surgical care were significantly less likely to develop postoperative wound infections (odds ratio OR = 0.29, 95% confidence interval CI: 0.17–0.49, p < 0.001) and postoperative complications (OR = 0.26, 95% CI: 0.20–0.34, p < 0.001) and shortened the hospital length of stay (standardised mean differences SMD = −1.93, 95% CI: −2.32 to −1.53, and p < 0.001) compared with conventional care. The effect of accelerated rehabilitation surgical care intervention in the perioperative period of lung cancer surgery patients is remarkable, as it can effectively reduce the incidence of wound infection and complications, shorten hospitalisation time and promote patient recovery.
Objective: The aim was to update the genetic and clinical advances of congenital muscular dystrophy (CMD), based on a systematic review of the literature from 1991 to 2017. Data Sources: Articles in ...English published in PubMed from 1991 to 2017 English were searched. The terms used in the literature searches were CMD. Study Selection: The task force initially identified citations for 98 published articles. Of the 98 articles, 52 studies were selected after further detailed review. Three articles, which were not written in English, were excluded from the study. This study referred to all the important and English literature in full. Results: CMD is a group of early-onset disorders encompassing great clinical and genetic heterogeneity. Patients present with muscle weakness typically from birth to early infancy, delay or arrest of gross motor development, and joint and/or spinal rigidity. The diagnosis of CMD relies on clinical findings, brain and muscle imaging, muscle biopsy histology, muscle and/or skin immunohistochemical staining, and molecular genetic testing. Conclusions: Advances in next-generation sequencing and histopathological techniques have enabled the recognition of distinct CMD subtypes supported by specific gene identification. Genetic counseling and multidisciplinary management of CMD play an important role in help patients and their family. Further elucidation of the significant clinical and genetic heterogeneity, therapeutic targets, and the clinical care for patients remains our challenge for the future.
In this study, we describe composited perovskite films based on the doping of lead cesium triiodide (CsPbI3) quantum dots (QDs) into methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3). CsPbI3 QDs and MAPbI3 were ...prepared by ligand-assisted re-precipitation and solution mixing, respectively. These films were optimized by oxygen plasma treatment, and the effect of powers from 0 to 80 W on the structural properties of the composited perovskite films is discussed. The experimental results showed that the light-harvesting ability of the films was enhanced at 20 W. The formation of the metastable state (lead(II) oxide and lead tetroxide) was demonstrated by peak differentiation-imitating. A low power enhanced the quality of the films due to the removal of organic impurities, whereas a high power caused surface damage in the films owing to the severe degradation of MAPbI3.
Zinc‐ion batteries (ZIBs) have been extensively investigated and discussed as promising energy storage devices in recent years owing to their low cost, high energy density, inherent safety, and low ...environmental impact. Nevertheless, several challenges remain that need to be prioritized before realizing the widespread application of ZIBs. In particular, the development of zinc anodes has been hindered by many challenges, such as inevitable zinc dendrites, corrosion passivation, and the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), which have severely limited the practical application of high‐performance ZIBs. This review starts with a systematic discussion of the origins of zinc dendrites, corrosion passivation, and the HER, as well as their effects on battery performance. Subsequently, we discuss solutions to the above problems to protect the zinc anode, including the improvement of zinc anode materials, modification of the anode–electrolyte interface, and optimization of the electrolyte. In particular, this review emphasizes design strategies to protect zinc anodes from an integrated perspective with broad interest rather than a view with limited focus. In the final section, comments and perspectives are provided for the future design of high‐performance zinc anodes.
A systematic and detailed summary of the research progress on zinc ion battery anodes is presented, including the causes of zinc dendrites, corrosion passivation and hydrogen evolution reaction on zinc anodes along with the existing strategies. Perspectives are provided for the future design of high‐performance zinc anodes.
A highly efficient atom‐economic method for the preparation of chiral 3,3′‐bis(indolyl)methanes (3,3′‐BIMs) was developed. A chiral phosphoric acid (1 mol %) was found to promote the formation of ...structurally divers BIMs with quaternary stereogenic carbon centers in excellent yields with excellent enantioselectivities. Control experiments indicated that the simultaneous formation of two hydrogen bonds between the catalyst and the substrate was the key factor to obtain a good stereoselective outcome.
Dol‐ing out: The chiral Brønsted acid catalyzed Friedel–Crafts reaction of 3‐vinylindole with substituted indoles is an efficient method to build chiral 3,3′‐bis(indolyl)methanes (BIMs). Structurally divers BIMs with quaternary stereogenic carbon centers are produced in excellent yields with excellent enantioselectivities.
