To report CT features of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) in patients with various disease severity.
The CT manifestations and clinical data of 73 patients with COVID-19 were retrospectively collected in 6 hospitals from Jan 21 to Feb 3, 2020. We analyzed the initial and follow-up CT features of patients with disease severity, according to the Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of New Coronavirus Pneumonia.
Six patients (8%) were diagnosed as mild type pneumonia; these patients had no obvious abnormal CT findings or manifested mild changes of lung infection. All 43 patients (59 %) with common type presented unique or multiple ground-glass opacities (GGO) in the periphery of the lungs, with or without interlobular septal thickening. In the 21 patients (29 %) with severe type, extensive GGO and pulmonary consolidation were found in 16 cases (16/21, 76 %) and 5 cases (24 %), respectively. An extensive "white lung", with atelectasis and pleural effusion were found in critical type patients (3, 4%). On the resolutive phase of the disease, CT abnormalities showed complete resolution, or demonstrated residual linear opacities.
Different CT features are seen according to disease severity, which can help COVID-19 stratification.
We discuss the phase structure of QCD for Nf = 2 and Nf = 2 + 1 dynamical quark flavors at finite temperature and baryon chemical potential. It emerges dynamically from the underlying fundamental ...interactions between quarks and gluons in our work. To this end, starting from the perturbative high-energy regime, we systematically integrate out quantum fluctuations toward low energies by using the functional renormalization group. By dynamically hadronizing the dominant interaction channels responsible for the formation of light mesons and quark condensates, we are able to extract the phase diagram for μB/T ≲ 6. We find a critical endpoint at (TCEP, μBCEP) = (107, 635) MeV. The curvature of the phase boundary at small chemical potential is κ = 0.0142 (2), computed from the renormalized light chiral condensate Δl,R. Furthermore, we find indications for an inhomogeneous regime in the vicinity and above the chiral transition for μB≳ 417 MeV. Where applicable, our results are in very good agreement with the most recent lattice results. We also compare to results from other functional methods and phenomenological freeze-out data. This indicates that a consistent picture of the phase structure at finite baryon chemical potential is beginning to emerge. The systematic uncertainty of our results grows large in the density regime around the critical endpoint and we discuss necessary improvements of our current approximation toward a quantitatively precise determination of QCD phase diagram.
Circular RNAs are a class of regulatory RNA transcripts, which are ubiquitously expressed in eukaryotes. In the current study, we evaluate the function of a novel circRNA derived from the β-catenin ...gene locus, circβ-catenin.
Circβ-catenin is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and displays resistance to RNase-R treatment. We find that circβ-catenin is highly expressed in liver cancer tissues when compared to adjacent normal tissues. Silencing of circβ-catenin significantly suppresses malignant phenotypes in vitro and in vivo, and knockdown of this circRNA reduces the protein level of β-catenin without affecting its mRNA level. We show that circβ-catenin affects a wide spectrum of Wnt pathway-related genes, and furthermore, circβ-catenin produces a novel 370-amino acid β-catenin isoform that uses the start codon as the linear β-catenin mRNA transcript and translation is terminated at a new stop codon created by circularization. We find that this novel isoform can stabilize full-length β-catenin by antagonizing GSK3β-induced β-catenin phosphorylation and degradation, leading to activation of the Wnt pathway.
Our findings illustrate a non-canonical function of circRNA in modulating liver cancer cell growth through the Wnt pathway, which can provide novel mechanistic insights into the underlying mechanisms of hepatocellular carcinoma.

The cells were pretreated with geraniin for 24h and exposed to hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for 4h. Intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels, mitochondrial membrane potential and apoptosis were measured. We also investigated intracellular glutathione (GSH) levels and changes in nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)-mediated signaling cascade in cells treated with geraniin.
We investigated the protective effects of geraniin against H2O2-induced apoptosis in HepG2 cells. Geraniin significantly reduced H2O2-induced oxidative damage in a dose dependent manner. Further, geraniin induced the expression of heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase-1 (NQO1) and level of glutathione (GSH) in a concentration- and time-dependent manner, and increased Nrf2 nuclear translocation. The Nrf2-related cytoprotective effects of geraniin were PI3K/AKT and extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase1/2 (ERK1/2) pathway-dependent. However, inhibitors of PI3K/AKT and ERK1/2 (LY294002 or U0126) not only suppressed geraniin-induced nuclear translocation of Nrf2 but also abolished the expression of HO-1, NQO1 and GSH.
These results demonstrated that geraniin induced Nrf2-mediated expression of antioxidant enzymes HO-1 and NQO1, presumably via PI3K/AKT and ERK1/2 signaling pathways, thereby protecting cells from H2O2-induced oxidative cell death.
Geraniin, at least in part, offers an antioxidant defense capacity to protect cells from the oxidative stress-related diseases.

Abstract
In order to clarify the role of mining on the surrounding rock failure and water inrush of the karst collapse column in the working face floor, the concealed karst collapse column in the ...floor of Geting Coal Mine is taken as the research object, and the FLAC3D numerical simulation software is used to analyze the mining process. The stress field in the vertical direction, the plastic failure zone and the displacement change in the vertical direction are analyzed and studied, and the water inrush process of the hidden floor karst collapse column under different advancing distances is analyzed. The research results show that with the continuous increase of the advancing distance, the plastic failure range of the karst collapse column continues to increase, and the vertical displacement of the floor continues to increase. When the plastic failure zone of the coal floor and the plastic failure zone of the karst collapse column are connected, Water inrush accidents from the karst collapse column of the floor are prone to occur.
Activated macrophages switch from oxidative phosphorylation to aerobic glycolysis, similar to the Warburg effect, presenting a potential therapeutic target in inflammatory disease. The endogenous ...metabolite itaconate has been reported to regulate macrophage function, but its precise mechanism is not clear. Here, we show that 4-octyl itaconate (4-OI, a cell-permeable itaconate derivative) directly alkylates cysteine residue 22 on the glycolytic enzyme GAPDH and decreases its enzyme activity. Glycolytic flux analysis by U
C glucose tracing provides evidence that 4-OI blocks glycolytic flux at GAPDH. 4-OI thereby downregulates aerobic glycolysis in activated macrophages, which is required for its anti-inflammatory effects. The anti-inflammatory effects of 4-OI are replicated by heptelidic acid, 2-DG and reversed by increasing wild-type (but not C22A mutant) GAPDH expression. 4-OI protects against lipopolysaccharide-induced lethality in vivo and inhibits cytokine release. These findings show that 4-OI has anti-inflammatory effects by targeting GAPDH to decrease aerobic glycolysis in macrophages.
There is limited evidence of work-related transmission in the emerging coronaviral pandemic. We aimed to identify high-risk occupations for early coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) local ...transmission.
In this observational study, we extracted confirmed COVID-19 cases from governmental investigation reports in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. We followed each country/area for 40 days after its first locally transmitted case, and excluded all imported cases. We defined a possible work-related case as a worker with evidence of close contact with another confirmed case due to work, or an unknown contact history but likely to be infected in the working environment (e.g. an airport taxi driver). We calculated the case number for each occupation, and illustrated the temporal distribution of all possible work-related cases and healthcare worker (HCW) cases. The temporal distribution was further defined as early outbreak (the earliest 10 days of the following period) and late outbreak (11th to 40th days of the following period).
We identified 103 possible work-related cases (14.9%) among a total of 690 local transmissions. The five occupation groups with the most cases were healthcare workers (HCWs) (22%), drivers and transport workers (18%), services and sales workers (18%), cleaning and domestic workers (9%) and public safety workers (7%). Possible work-related transmission played a substantial role in early outbreak (47.7% of early cases). Occupations at risk varied from early outbreak (predominantly services and sales workers, drivers, construction laborers, and religious professionals) to late outbreak (predominantly HCWs, drivers, cleaning and domestic workers, police officers, and religious professionals).
Work-related transmission is considerable in early COVID-19 outbreaks, and the elevated risk of infection was not limited to HCW. Implementing preventive/surveillance strategies for high-risk working populations is warranted.
